RE: BOMB It will be discussed tonight but its up to the community.
Eth have it set so that by the time January 2017 comes, mining will no longer be profitable., EVER again.  This is not the route etc wants to go.

Wow, there is so much in that document.  We landed on our feet with this Charles guy.
He has a good understanding of Business, Computing, Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Game Theory and, the thing that tie them all together, Mathematics.  I bet he can play a good hand at poker and play a couple of musical instruments too.

I will need to do some in-depth analysis of this expose' but on the face of it, this bloke knows where it's at.

In his proposal he mentioned that the difficulty bomb is an issue that should be talked about. My speculation is ETC will be the first one to do a fork to remove the difficulty bomb and it will also give ETC the opportunity to fix the replay attack issue also. After that it would be good for both chains now that they are truly separated and diverging in their own paths.

If that is the case, then the miners will support it and the price could rise above the ETH in the future. It will be good.

Devs are working hard https://trello.com/b/ZuTNRTsW/etc-bomb-disposal
It may be possible to code out the bomb with no HF needed, it is not clear yet.
Remember, that bomb was put there for a reason.  To make miners quit and go to PoS.  Maybe we just worsen its effect so it does not increase exponentially, but on a linear vector, therefore: it takes effect over years rather than months.
Eth still has 4 more forks in its roadmap.  I wish them luck in not producing more ethereum clones.
As for the replay attack issue, if you use the new Classic wallets you are protected.

This has just been posted on Slack

Quote:-

As you all know tomorrow is the first ETC Kickoff Meet Up, and it will be a big one. Thank you to all the people here who have contributed to making this happen. The format of the event is as follows:

Location: Eversheds LLP, Headoffice, 1 Wood Street, St Pauls, EC2V 7WS  LONDON

7:00 - 7:30pm, Presentation: Ethereum Classic, Past, Present and Future,

7:30 - 8:30pm, Panel Event: Discussion on The Future of Blockchain and Smart Contracts in Light of The DAO Hack and the Hard Fork.

Overview of discussion:
1. Views on DAO's for automating business and legal processes
2. Philosophical question about human intervention after a smart contract is deployed
3. The DAO hard fork, what are panel's thoughts?
4. What are the standard procedures to re-appropriate stolen money in a traditional financial services scenario?
5. Could a similar legal approach have been used to stop the DAO hacker accessing/using assets?
6. "Ethics" of immutability and its limitations with centralised interests.
7. On the ETC chain the funds are still in the hands of the hacker and RHG/Polo, could a similar legal approach discussed earlier be used here now?
8. What important controls could be put in place to help manage risks of hackings on future DAOs?
9. Considering how the legal and regulatory framework copes with financial crime, what are panel views on whether or not existing framework can be adapted for an immutable blockchain or whether or not a new framework needs to be created, because immutable its is the future?
10. Closing comments

8:30 - 9pm, Drinks and Networking Panel of senior finance, legal, regulatory and tech specialists will be ok the panel.

We will release details for streaming. Also we can have interactivity with slack channel here, So if anyone has questions they can post live to the panel.
End Quote

For people wanting to join slack i will find more info,  However, i will be posting questions and am open to ideas of what to ask

Just hold ur coins to long term guys.

Etc hás a great future coming

Only word's hold them will not change down trend.

Tell me why i should hold them? Im holding them since the price was 3,20 dollars. And dont worry i didnt invest more then i can lose. Soo now i need something better then only HOLD THEM because of great future. Give me some facts or even what will change in next mounths or years that you know about? What will change to hold them? Give me a reason to hold them.

You are right. There are not many developers supporting the ETC at the moment. And the development will cost a lot of money.

Lol, not many dev, but, they Delivery good things, and what a good dev for u?

Hardforkers like vitalik or in the next week devs like Sasha?

If ure unhappy, sell ur coins and keep walking

Your coins? Are you kidding me  Grin Im just asking what will change in next months with this coin? What is the plan, options..? And this is your anwser? If you are not happy (sell and keep walking)? =)   We are all here with same reason. We believe in ETC and most important we all looking for some PROFIT. Meybe  you are the only one who is preapered to trow his money away (nothing wrong with that), but for me im looking for some kind of profit short term or long term doesnt metter. All we want to know is what is going on around here now. Nobody say nothing lataly.. So, i will ask again? Is there any real option to get support or even good investors? We have HS growing, but believe me minners will stop minning if the price will be so low as now.. Soo yeah still holdiing ETC's and waiting for some good news.

For you is meybe time to get serious here, and stop telling people to sell their coins. Meybe will be better to start informing them, why they should by them.

You are not here for info, you want to squable.  I answered your questions on the last post i made, yet you engauge with someone who gives you a throwaway comment?  Who are you?

This coin has an immutable blockchain.  It is secure.  It has all the function of ETH but without the centralized governance.  It is controlled by 700GH/s of mining, 700 slack members, 100 volunteer coders and 12  developers employed currently by Charles (but eventualy by the network via smart contract). See progress here https://trello.com/etcdev
Just think people, this tech will have the ability to employ people.  It will always be mined and is very secure.  Its popular in Russia, China, Korea, USA, UK.

I'm sure the devs could knock something up quick to keep the traders happy but NO.  Stuff will come out when it has been proven to work.

We have wallets with replay protection, a node that is unforked chain only & no flags
and an explorer, all in less than a month

Huge DUMP..
What goes up must come down.
These are the markets of fringe science.
This is an experimental project.

Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.
Do not trade on emotions.
Have a more scientific/mathmatical appraoch with your trading.
This coin can swing +/-10 to 20% in price each day.
Do not trade with a loaded gun in the room.

Trade Gold or forex if you want quick profit.
There are no get rich quck schemes here.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Foundation was basically caught trading stolen coins in exchanges on: August 17, 2016, 02:21:49 PM
I don't think there will be any funds left if etc price is low and the lawyers eat it all up with legal fees.  That might be good for etc though.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 17, 2016, 02:15:21 PM
My last post was deleted. As i see this thread is a joke then. Just to let you all know..
On Poloniex someone just invest this 31788.70536736 ETC's and 34000 ETC's one minute after. If aynone have any news about who is supporting ETC and who is behind this (trying to control the value) let us know. Like i said i can sell them now and take big loss before i lose everything.

Another 42000 ETC's BUY.. Interesting

This is crypto,  I am buying but im also keeping my cards close to  my chest  Wink   If i get any info, i will post what i know

Charles Hoskinson is on this weeks "Epicenter Botcoin" podcast

So what did you think of the podcast?
I like Charles 's idea of security as the driving force.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Foundation was basically caught trading stolen coins in exchanges on: August 17, 2016, 01:51:54 PM
I don't understand how Poloniex can decide to freeze funds that were 'stolen'?
They chose to allow ETC, which is a similar situation, surely if they are being laissez-faire, they shouldn't freeze anything!

Do they now sit on these coins, or return then?

I agree with that PoV.

I think Poloniex do not want to be convicted of knowingly handling stolen funds.  They are bound by KYC (Know Your Customer) regulations.  If they had stolen funds previously, they could argue "plausible deniability" because the story wasn't out.
It is in the hands of lawyers now so there will be an investigation.  It could take years to resolve and get those funds back to their rightful owners.

and then there is the question about the power in africa if there is money to get there is always a bunch that collects it and the masses wont get any (see the roses biz)
how will you aviod that ?

True, let em go without then.

You know, where i am in Cornwall, we have loads of wind farms shut down.  We make a surplice of power but there is just no demand for it.  Also there is no way of getting that power up to London where it is needed.  English Heritage would never give permission for pylons and transmission lines to  clutter the beautiful countryside.  It would be cool if we could offer free power to attract new businesses but that would be against EU law.  Everyone has to pay the same prices across Europe, just to make it far.  Renewable s are just a ponzi.  The power companies just don't want to buy up  the power.

Moreover: if you have enough roof space to make good power, you are so rich electric does not matter to you.  People will pay £50k in my road for land only just big enough to park a small car on (a car that cost £15k new on land measuring just 20ft by 8ft), and use it for nothing more than just that. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2239855/Parking-St-Ives-Trio-Cornish-spaces-sell-160-000-costing-house.html
You cannot buy a car unless you have somewhere to put it, its just that the space costs 3 time more than the cost of the car.

yes right thats what i ment
the power cartel i refuse to sell my power to them i rather have an heater/cooler run for my dog then spend it into the cartel grit.

but back to your idea:
its really a great one.

how could a smart contract make sure its for the masses. and not the 1%?

question
i was thinking of getting a pc or what ever and try to mine
i do have 5 kilowatthours  left every day could i run a miner on that ?

Ethereum Classic mining rule of thumb.  $1000 cost = 100MH/s mining = $100 per month

$1000 usd to get a a rig to do ~100MH/s
24hours mining classic @~100MH/s to a pool = 3.6 Etc per 24 hours at current diff ($100 per month)
that will pull ~1kw per hour.  24hours would be 24kw/h

but you don't have to run 24h per day,  just run 12 hours per day.
Moreover: i don't use my heating in winter and i dry all my washing on it all year round.

Hope that helps
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 17, 2016, 09:51:55 AM

Its hard to say how much you have damaged ETC ... but its a lot.

@bitpop, I would like to thank you for both:
a) starting this thread and
b) all the hard work you have put into this thread.

edit:

Actually... if you @bitpop, @greenuser and @tylerderden stop posting for a day or two.. we might even see ETC at 0.004 before the weekend.

Get some profit back into the mining game.

OT:  Go start a mining thread or a trading thread.  This thread is called "Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts"

You probably think you are helping ETC by talking shit about ETH .. but thats not really how it works.
You should consider trying it atleast, if you want to see it do better.

You miners, playing one coin off againt the other, shoe! Go tell your Eth buddies how childish we are because we won't play with you.

Thank you all,.... keepers of the code.  We are Immutable!  We are Secure!
ETC is here to stay. Smart Contracts that don't default.

I might buy some on friday to celibate, regardless of the price.  I'm playing the long game here  Grin

Africa, Proof of Light my friend!  utilisation of Immutable Smart Contracts!  its the future also the thread topic.
