Coinbase To Add Ethereum Direct Buys later This Month

Prob after 20th, but you will be able to buy Eth with a linked card or sell eth and have the cash put on your credit card, just like btc.  (Thanks R3)  Wink
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how many coins mining with one gpu? on: July 17, 2016, 02:05:03 AM
i'm mining eth and DCR coin together with one gpu now.
can i mining other coin such as nexus and etc when eth & DCR mining is running with this GPU or not? Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided

If you mine more coins then your losing hashrate to the other coins.  I disnt realise u could even mine 2 at the same time.  Your returns must be horrible at that speeds.

Why don't you choose 1 and stick with it?

A good way to hedge!  Are you using Claymore? There is greater profit merge mining eth & Sia (SC)
look... https://www.whattomine.com/merged_coins/2-eth-sc
More so than eth & DCR
https://www.whattomine.com/merged_coins/1-eth-dcr
But you will mine slower than putting all your effort into one coin.

You could always CPU mine Groestl on top of eth & Sia but you will need to throttle your CPU to stop it starving your GPU coins.
Once stable, add Burstcoin (HHD miner) on top but, be sure to use a cpu plotter and not a gpu plotter or you will crash you GPU mining software.
This will not reduce your GPU mining one bit

My rig currently mines the following, all at the same time:

  • eth or feathercoin with GPU (depending on current market price/profitability)
  • Groestl with CPU
  • Burst with HHD
  • Litecoin with ASIC

The CPU has all 8 cores flat out all of the time.  Cheesy

Anyhow, move your post to the mining section, you will freak these guys out if they know you can mine 4 coins at once.
I get ROI every 90 days  It's shocking how many times this pile of junk has paid for it's self Grin

763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS coins poll and information on: July 17, 2016, 01:36:07 AM
Why no ethereum?  PoW will finish for ethereum at the end of the year
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem Parody Video on: July 16, 2016, 03:21:55 PM
So is Steem a Social Nationalist (social fascism) coin?  you guys seem quite preoccupied with this type of ideology.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: after 2013 did you foresee the second coming of alts? on: July 16, 2016, 02:03:42 PM
I got into alts because I wanted a slice of all the cash the eth miners were making at the start of the year.  I was mining btc but just not making enough cash, so I started mining eth.

What amazes me is how much the banks have come on board.  Just look at the market cap on ethereum.  That is not just forum users.

More than half of this forum is bitcoin chatter, the rest is altcoin chatter and only a small percentage of that are Ethereum threads.  Although https://forum.ethereum.org can get busy, no way does that site alone represent the full size of the market.
I assume the source of all this money is from The R3 Consortium  (I.E.  Barclays, BBVA, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Royal Bank of Scotland, State Street, UBS, Bank of America, BNY Mellon, Citi, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Morgan Stanley, National Australia Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Société Générale, Toronto-Dominion Bank,  Mizuho Bank, Nordea, UniCredit,  BNP Paribas, Wells Fargo, ING, Macquarie Group, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce,  BMO Financial Group, Danske Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, Natixis, Nomura, Northern Trust, OP Financial Group, Banco Santander, Scotiabank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, U.S. Bancorp, Westpac Banking Corporation, SBI Holdings of Japan, Hana Financial of South Korea, Bank Itau of Brazil and Toyota Financial Services.)

So it will not die, nor will they jump ship onto another coin.  When it goes PoS in 6 months they will own it and there will be no miners just 250 validators.  And who will those validators be? R3?

They won't be worried about users because ethereum will be retro fitted to the back end of the current banking system.  It's sole purpose is to make 50% of of back office staff redundant in the world of banking, and the people mining and posting here will have facilitated it all.

All you can hope for is to ride the coat tails to make a little profit on the way.

As for the other alts...  Well they will just be hobby coins come 2017.

Sad but thats how i see it.
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 16, 2016, 12:21:40 PM
If the majority of the miners accept the bribe and do not soft fork, the Ethereum is destroyed. The ethereum they get is worthless.
Yep soft fork is history.  Anyway what does it have to do with miners?  The pools decide which "Geth" they run.  Miners will not solo to their own "Geth", it takes to long to find a block.  And the pools will probably end up being the validators when it all goes to PoS

Anyone can vote on http://carbonvote.com/ it is not just limited to miners
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 16, 2016, 06:55:22 AM

LoL, I was planning to run both chains at the same time too, I wonder how many others will do the same Cheesy
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 16, 2016, 06:26:40 AM
ETHC will fork away from Vitalik and his nanny chain can whore itself out to the highest bidder. Smiley

Thats a done deal.  It's called The R3 Consortium
As of June 23rd they are:
Barclays, BBVA, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Royal Bank of Scotland, State Street, UBS, Bank of America, BNY Mellon, Citi, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Morgan Stanley, National Australia Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Société Générale, Toronto-Dominion Bank,  Mizuho Bank, Nordea, UniCredit,  BNP Paribas, Wells Fargo, ING, Macquarie Group, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce,  BMO Financial Group, Danske Bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, Natixis, Nomura, Northern Trust, OP Financial Group, Banco Santander, Scotiabank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, U.S. Bancorp, Westpac Banking Corporation, SBI Holdings of Japan, Hana Financial of South Korea, Bank Itau of Brazil and Toyota Financial Services.

Not that there are any cartels in the banking world  Cheesy  But, surely you didn't think that bloated market cap came from forum users did you?

769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 16, 2016, 06:06:48 AM
So what is the definite date of the hard fork? Have they decalred it already? This might be good or bad for the platform. If they do hard fork they should hope that banks and companies will still be interested in using the platform.
20th July....  Oh the banks are too far in now to cop out.  They were the ones that voted up the fork,  well you can't let just the miners decide about the future of the banking system can you?  Moreover: only about 6 months left of mining before PoS anyway.
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC transaction speed on: July 16, 2016, 05:53:45 AM
Me too, I think litecoin is great! Maybe it's too stable for crypto people and they are use to volatility?  Grin

You hit the nail on the head. feathercoin has the same issue.

Bitcoin would not have the problems it has if people used altcoins instead of just trading them against other coins.

The world needs more merchants willing to sell stuff for Altcoin.  They look at Bitcoins problems and run to fiat rather than try a different coin.  They don't understand, nor want to, nor should they!  You don't need to know how the Federal Reserve works to enjoy spending dollars.  So we need legislation to make people who sell stuff like electricity, food, DIY, clothing etc, to offer more than one payment method?  But why would governments do that if they offer their own payment systems (£,$,€)?

If all the companies in the world that made and sold women's shoes gave 10% discount for using litecoin, it's market cap would double for sure. Wink
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: July 16, 2016, 05:22:01 AM
....Crypto community has too many gullible people who eat these press releases like it's cardboard sprinkled with ketchup.
I think that Crypto community does not have enough gullible people.  Not only does it need more gullible people, but it need more gullible people with money to spend.  How the hell am i gonna make money on these margins?  eth has flat lined for the last 28 days
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: July 16, 2016, 12:25:18 AM
It only need to be more secure than a credit card for the banks to be interested.  Most people have had a credit card hacked.  The bank sends you a form to sign to say you had no part in it and then insurance pays...  As long as ethereum out performs the credit card skimming, they will take it.  The crypto community are their guinea pigs.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: July 15, 2016, 07:18:56 PM
For the past 30 days I checked the ETH price graph and It's dumped hard from 0.028BTC the highest to 0.0124BTC the lowest which is more than the half. ETH is trying to recover and I think more investors will join ETH.

Nothing has happened to eth since 17th June.  It has stayed pretty flat  between 15 & 21 mBTC.  The real test will be after the 20th July when they fork.  Will it go back to 33mBTC or continue to mooch around the high teens?  No one can tell?

This coin has the big banks behind it.  I don't think it's a big bunch of small investors at all.  Their forum activity is just not busy enough for that.  But if the whales bail, and i wish that they would, they will not just jump on to another coin.  I would love to see feathercoin or Groestl get some of that market cap but could you see a big bank wanting a slice of something that they couldn't manipulate?
No the whales will stay until the end.... IF there is one.

It will go to PoS at the end of the year and then the only people left making money will be the 250 validators that have bought a stake.  That's when you will see it dumped hard by the little people, but the price will not matter then.  The concept will have been proven and it will be retro fitted to the back end of the already existing banking system and the banks will lay off 45% of their back office staff as they will no longer be needed.

Short term pain for long term gain is the name of the game.  It's like a game of Poker...  your hand does not matter if you can out-bid all the other players and force them all to fold.

The guy in the street will never know the difference.  The plastic card in his pocket will look the same only the chip in it will carry ethereum private keys instead of mastercard keys....  that is if mastercard is not one of the whales with a stake in ethereum.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steemit website was hacked on: July 15, 2016, 12:46:52 PM
Ofcourse i know better than a clueless person that didnt bother to check, here;s your list https://medium.com/@AroundTheBlock_/a-current-list-of-use-cases-for-ethereum-b8caa5807553#.u4gzcaioq
Serious people are waiting?  What exactly, the day after tomorrow ? People buy bitcoin to make speculation and therefore profit. And goin on with that in mind, its obvious altcoins have much more profit potential, it just takes some research to do good investments.

You call Barry Silbert a clueless person? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Barry Silbert? the Founder of Digital Currency Group?  yep, i would love to know his current take on the crypto world.  He is a reputable chap in crypto for sure.  But lets remember, no one know the future.  Only time will tell.  Make your bets first...  then we spin the wheel.
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steemit website was hacked on: July 15, 2016, 12:28:40 PM
This shit doesnt have 10% of ethereum potential and it wont be able to hold its price. I own 0 steem and im not planning to buy any, but if i would be you i'd sell minimum 50% and up to 75% of the stake. And again, if i would be you, i would invest in ethereum since its obvious ( 90% chance, my estimation ) that ethereum will go above 15$ after the fork and soon after that back to 20$. Wether or not the fork will pass, but the "crysis" period will be gone.
It's just my opinion,  but atm ethereum is the only crypto out there with highest chance of growth, bitcoin halved and as i expected the halving itself didnt bring any more value, therefore theres no profit to be made with bitcoin.

It's true. I am not an eth fan but they have a hard-fork planed for the 20th of this month. Finally!

Also, Coinbase is continuing to cosy up to ethereum with its addition of direct buy methods later on this month. After the integration is complete you will be able to perform direct buy for ethereum with your credit card - just as you can for bitcoin.

I guess Coinbase is waiting for the new "Geth" file....  So buy "eth" with your "steem" which you can probably do anonymously via shapshift ASAP, hold for a month, then sell?  Sounds perfect!

As for the BTC halfing.  two months ago btc was £300, today £500, two months time £600.  its looking like the halving is going well.  markets just take time to adjust
776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steemit website was hacked on: July 15, 2016, 11:15:57 AM
I dont think it will fail. It will be proped up by western governments as it is a crackingly good surveillance tool
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Etherium price is decreasing day by day ? on: July 15, 2016, 10:32:32 AM
"Coinbase is continuing to cosy up to ethereum with its addition of direct buy methods later on this month. With the price battered by DAO dilemmas and forking problems, the positive boost has been welcomed by the ethereum community. After the integration is complete you will be able to perform direct buy for ethereum with your credit card - just as you can for bitcoin."

There is nothing wrong with a good Ponzi.  I love them.  I can make a bob or two on a good Ponzi.  You need to be an early adopter but you also need to get out early, just before people are asked to "doubble down".

Im thinking "false flag attack".  It does happen.  Mark Karpeles, the CEO  of Mt Gox, has been released today by Japanese authorities on bail 10 months after being charged with embezzlement. He has reportedly paid a bail fee of $95k.
779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steemit website was hacked on: July 15, 2016, 10:04:43 AM
As i understand it, Steemit is a platform where you get paid for your social media activity.  This means you run their software (that you have trust in) and use your social media credentials to log in?

Wow, they are data rich, they know everything about you then?  So there is more to lose than just a few tokens?  Sounds like a "False flag" attack
780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: July 14, 2016, 10:51:16 PM
The Ethereum mining hash rate is still increasing. That makes me think the miners are very confident.
No, i don't think its because of confidence, everyone wants a money making machine and the most profitable is still eth, just!
However, it has been neck and neck between eth and eth clones and feathercoin since the Dao thing.
(feathercoin has only a small market cap and is not carried by all exchanges).
REF: https://www.whattomine.com
Sia is now on the scene so it looks like eth has growing competition.  Miners that have wealth may mine a coin through loyalty (or blind faith), but miners that are not have power bills to pay and will mine what is most profitable.

Oh! if it survives, i will buy it at $2
