782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Steem be the Next Bitcoin? on: July 14, 2016, 05:00:56 PM
We all want to become rich over night but not, steem has 0 chances to become the next btc. Plus there are several more cryptos / projects out there that are bulding something similar.

Yes and that is good new, We do all want to become rich over night.  However, for the few to become rich, many have to lose and suffer.
A coin with no problems and a steady price is no good to profit from. Booms, bubbles, crashes, ponzies and takeovers are where the few profit and masses take all the losses.  The cool thing with crypto is you don't have to be white, male and middle class anymore.  Anyone, (kids, inmates, the insane, the elderly, the disenfranchised, and the underclass.....) yes anyone, can participate.  Let the gravy train continue.  Full speed ahead!

Up 1000% - you could not lose they said!  Grin
....Some of the folks here are still enthusiastic about the future of this asset. I think those just might be the rosiest colored glasses in the world, but anything is possible with the price after this fork.
Anything is possible? Yer just like the big banks that were too big to fail and the governments bailed them.  It's a good job ethereum also  have a centralized governing body to raise capital and keep the ponzi fed.

Forking and quantitative easing are the same things in my eyes, but what do you expect when you introduce crypto-financial derivatives (Dao).

"The Next Bitcoin?"

oh shit!

The Kiss of Death!

Steem is a data collection tool for the NSA & GCHQ.  The more you reveal about yourself, the more you get paid, and we all know, people will do anything, yes I say anything.... for money.
You mean like ... dick pix?

Not at all. NSA & GCHQ are dying to know what it is we do there in our mom's basements. But they never shall: we're too cunning!

Yo, the NSA is already there:

502 Sad

What are the reasons for 502 Bad Gateway responses?

  • Domain name not resolvable: The domain name is not resolving to the correct IP or it does not resolve to any IP. It is important to note that DNS changes could take same time until they are global fully propagated and active. This is very dependant on the DNS TTL defined per record.

  • Origin server down: The server is not reachable, either because it is down or there is no connectivity to the server given.

    • Firewall blocks request: A firewall blocks the communication between the edge servers and the origin server. This can also be caused by security plugins of your CMS. Some DDOS protection and mitigation systems might are too overreactive and start blocking requests from our content delivery servers.

Its workig for me from UK

Steem is a data collection tool for the NSA & GCHQ.  The more you reveal about yourself, the more you get paid, and we all know, people will do anything, yes I say anything.... for money.

Or maybe people think I am just paranoid and it is really a tool developed by advertising agencies to target you all better..... with a kickback for Facebook of course.  And the optional extra of an “optical fibre tap” for the security agencies when things get out of hand.

Or am I just jealous and wished I had all that data to sell on the open market?

So I have to sign in with Facebook?  I don't have Facebook, I consider it to be a security risk.  Moreover, I have seen the problems my husband has had with them.  They lock his account if he speaks his mind on there.  They just don't understand Post Punk Anarchism.  Angry

I made a pretty penny or two from the ethereum scam and am now looking for the next “big thing”..... however,  I might have to sit this one out unless I can buy a facebook account from someone and pay people to maintain the chatter and the photo splurge for me, and still have profit left over.

@Propagandalf thank you, you are a star.  I have some time to invest over the next couple of days.  Looks like i will be spending it learning a new system.  I will head over to the forum and..... i have a rake of old HHDs to go through, just to make sure i don't delete stuff that has meaning to me.
I had read about HHD mining here http://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8596/new-algorithm-uses-novel-method-to-extend-pow
I didn't realise it had been implemented.  Thanks again.

Hi!

My question is,... do I have to install a wallet on the server?
...
Can I install mining software on the server but have the coins going onto a wallet on my laptop?

You can install the wallet on your notebook and/or use the webwallet.
And yes, you can install the mining software on the server and getting the coins on the wallet intstalled an your notebook or webwallet.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply, i have a bit more reading to do but will soon add Burst to my portfolio and my *W@LLET TE$T* program.
I will install the Windows Client based wallet V1.2.4 on my laptop today and have a play.

As for my server, i will need a ploter too?  Can you/anyone recomend for my set up?

Plotters
Janror's CPU plotter (sse4/avx2)
cryo's (bipben's) GPU plotter:

Miners
Blago’s Windows Miner
(source: https://github.com/Blagodarenko/miner-burst)

luxe’s openCL for Win/Linux/MacOS
Highly recommended if you have a decent or good graphics unit. Highly increased performance, lower read times, and quicker submissions.

Uray's Miner
Multiplatform C++ Miner |

dcct's c miner for Linux

Dev's POCMiner in java

.....Thanks again and the very best of luck to everyone using Burst

Hi i'm looking for advice.  I have a HP Proliant storage server that I use for multi-coin mining.  It runs on windows 7-64bit.
I currently have running.

  • 4 GPUs installed that are used for mining either ethereum (45Mh/s) or feathercoin (600Kh/s) - (depending on current market price),
  • One Scrypt ASIC for mining litecoin (5.2 Mh/s)
  • And... I also use 6 of the 8cores of CPU power maxed out to mine Groestlcoin (600Kh/s)
  • I want to add Burstcoin as I have 4 empty slots in the server where I can add 4 more hard-drives.

My question is,... do I have to install a wallet on the server?  I pool mine my other coins and have the wallets for them installed on my laptop.  Can I install mining software on the server but have the coins going onto a wallet on my laptop?  My laptop is not always running but my server is on 24/7 and i want to mine feathercoin, litecoin, Groestlcoin and Burst, simultaneously.
Also, will Burst conflict with any of my other coins being mined?

Thanks in advance.

Well its good enough for fiat i.e. HSBC Bank
"US officials refused to prosecute HSBC for money laundering in 2012 because of concerns within the Department of Justice that it would cause a "global financial disaster", a report says".

"The 2012 settlement with HSBC detailed how the bank violated US sanctions by conducting business for customers in Iran, Libya, Sudan, Burma and Cuba.
HSBC accounts were also used by the Sinaloa drug cartel in Mexico and Norte del Valle cartel in Colombia to launder $881m.
The settlement allowed the bank to avoid pleading guilty to any wrongdoing.
If HSBC had been proven guilty of criminal action, it could have lost its banking charter in the US".

792  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you like to pay bills using bitcoins while staying at home? on: July 12, 2016, 08:58:10 PM
I looked at Cashila but you still need a bank account and ID.  Undecided

I think i will continue to pay cash at the post office every 90 days for the time being.  That is unless i can get my electricity provider to sign up to Cashila, then they can pay the fiat fees.  I can sell my mined coins to friends for hard cash and give them better rates than an exchange and then pay my bill cash.  It's nice to get out too... I might meet more customers for my coins while i'm walking to the post office.  Smiley
793  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you like to pay bills using bitcoins while staying at home? on: July 12, 2016, 08:43:30 PM
There are sites in the Philippines that allows you to do that, but is there anything like that in other countries?

In Europe we have Cashila which works basically as a bitcoin "bank account".
You can deposit funds with bitcoin or euro and pay bills / send money to anyone in Europe. You can receive money from others as well - with bitcoin or euro.

It's a cool service and the only I know which has a banking license to do bitcoin to euro transfers.

Cool that is good to know, i am a miner in the UK and would love to be able to pay my electricity bill in any crypto coin.
My electricity provider takes euros as well as british pounds so Cashila may be the way forward for me.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. Gov’t Announces Blockchain Healthcare Contest on: July 12, 2016, 06:43:33 PM
hmmm... British Gov are looking at an NHS Blockchain already and the Benift Agency as well as for finance.
This report is also on our goverments website
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/492972/gs-16-1-distributed-ledger-technology.pdf

"The UK is not alone in recognising the importance of distributed ledger
technologies. Other countries, large and small, are already moving quickly to
adopt distributed ledgers — and the case study of Estonia shows how quickly a
small country with an effective digitally-aware leadership can progress. However,
there is still time for the UK to position itself within this leading group — indeed,
it is essential for it to do so, given the importance of the financial and services
sector to the UK economy."
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Fucking Chinese on: July 12, 2016, 04:14:31 PM
@Rawdog, do you have to be so course?  There are a lot of women and children using this forum.   Wink

However, i agree... the Chinese are looking far superior to us Westerners.  We change our governments every 5 years.  They plan past five years and onwards.   Our governing infrastructure is collapsing.  Theirs is strong.   If we have to go to war with them we will be annihilated by their Dong-Feng single-warhead medium-range ballistic missile, it is the business.  It is the most superior weapon on the planet.

But then you also have to member, they are two thirds of the worlds population as well as two thirds of the worlds bitcoin hash power.  If you are not Chinese, you are in a minority on this planet and I believe in democracy.  So I want to be a friend of China.

797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: July 12, 2016, 03:18:24 PM
I would say the fear of going over the government rules. That's it. I dont thing anything else Would block them use the btc. I do not have any restriction  in my country. We do not even have physical btc to use. But I exchange what I earned to my currency and use them for my expense.

Bitcoin has just been legalised in Russia but use has stayed around the same.

The people i deal with don't like the long conformation times in bitcoin.  I tell them about up-ing the transaction fee but they don't understand, they think they will pay too much.
Bitcoin wallets need to have a movable slider next to the send button marked as "slow and very cheap" at one end and "very fast and but still cheaper than PayPal" at the other, like ethereum wallet.

I think things would be better if Bitcoin was seen as "digital gold" to store wealth and we used Litetcoin or an other Altcoin for every day micro purchases.  In the light of the Dao thing, most people are just too sceptical.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: July 12, 2016, 03:01:00 PM
Buying drugs, hookers or anything you want really unless making other lives miserable is perfectly fine.
People on this thread, and i can't believe how many!!, saying you should not even mention such a possibility due to making a bad image for bitcoin make me want to vomit. Shame on you unenlightened and selfish sheep!
Well said, good post
799  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2016, 02:50:30 PM
Statistically, more people have got rich using USD than BTC.
If you want to increase your chances of getting rich, use USD.
Maybe there should be a thread listing people who have become rich from bitcoin.  I bet the list is not very long.
