They will get very fucking exciting if Ghash.io gets another 8% hashing power. It is currently sitting on 42% and climbing fast. Blockchain.info stats only show 38%. Did you get the 42% figure from somewhere else? Look at past 24 hours chart. This is much more accurate, but over 2016 blocks. 24 hours is too variable. This non-story has had zero impact in the market.
The market has corrected because it overran to the upside. Happens every week in Bitcoinland.
DHS said at the Senate hearing they would auction the seized coins *if* they decided to sell. Senate testimony is much more reliable than internet articles.

Beats in what way? It looks like volume-wise CC wins. The usage vs revenue only points to the fact that BTC users are spending more per purchase, not that BTC is inherently more efficient. Is this correct?
Obviously not a volume comparison as btc is a new tech. I see it as being more profitable, probably on spend and reduced fees. |

Is 91 sec for irrevocably confirmed?
What is the speed for acked but unconfirmed? Bitcoin is 1 or 2 seconds. That is staggeringly fast, not 91 secs.

How much is it going to cost to get P2Pool in the reference client? Who is going to start a bounty?
It may not enlighten the traditional pool miners out there, but it will be a step in the right direction.
When the network is finally attacked thanks to centralized pools, we will have something to fall back on.
There is a bounty for improving P2Pool which was languishing at about 2 BTC (but that has been drawn down a few days ago). Advancement of Decentralized Mining - Vital to Bitcoin Network SecurityI agree it would be nice to see it in the reference client. The importance of decentralized mining outweighs the argument that the reference client should be focused toward the protocol. |

There are about 25,000 coins left on all the exchanges put together. Just guesstimating -- didn't actually count them.
For about 40 million you could get a corner on bitcoin.
That's about 9 days of mining output.
SecondMarket, Exante and probably other funds are scooping up the mining output (those which are not kept for long-term by the miners!) |

The income tax is by many assumed to be unconsiatitional... The tax system is a mess. Tax laws are literately 10,000 pages long and the IRS more or less picks who they want to fuck with.

Why does b.i now default to displaying values in USD for me?
I'm examining Bitcoin blocks and transactions. I don't give one hoot about USD.
Worse, I can't even select BTC units. Only mBTC, which confuses things.
Worse still, the selection doesn't "stick", and reverts back to USD all by itself.
Yeah. Had the same frustration. Bitcoin is in the list, just buried. Should be top and the default. |

I just spent a couple hours reading through Satoshi's 1,000+ posts and plucked out my four favorites: 1. (I’ve been working on bitcoin’s design) since 2007. At some point I became convinced there was a way to do this without any trust required at all and couldn’t resist to keep thinking about it. 2. Lost coins only make everyone else’s coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone. 3. Sorry to be a wet blanket. Writing a description for (bitcoin) for general audiences is bloody hard. There’s nothing to relate it to. 4. I’m sure that in 20 years there will either be very large (bitcoin) transaction volume or no volume. It just seems like the market action is more like reverting to trend .... seems like pretty solid gains than any bubbly toppy mania getting ready to plunge back into the abyss (i.e. back to trend) My heart (and wallet) likes the super-exponential fit, but my head still goes with the straight-line on a log-chart. Perhaps it will bounce around between $800 and $1200 for a few more months. June/July seems to be "right" time for $1000 as a norm. It still leaves $2000 due in Oct/Nov this year. |
