Metacoin, i tried creating the florincoin.conf in text edit and deselecting the txt ending in textedit preferences.
I'm doing something wrong still as the wallet is crashing. Am i not creating the conf file properly?

Un-check the box to "Hide Extension" the file is named "florincoin.conf.rtf" as seen in your screenshot right hand side

Are the devs planning to go on the conference circuit eventually?

David talked about Sia at the MIT Bitcoin Expo 2016

Are the devs planning to go on the conference circuit eventually? I'd say one of the big differences between Ethereum & NXT is VB is everywhere in public, and BCNext & Jean-Luc was/is fully cloaked. Are the Sia guys anon?

The developers use their real names on Github and can be verified here http://news.rpi.edu/content/2014/05/21/rpi-commencement-2014-computer-science-degree-start-business-and-skills-make-it

There is an "infinite" number of coins. The block reward will never reach zero.

You can check http://siapul.se/page/market for some graphs

Whats the final total number of SiaCoins?

326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin | UPGRADE NOW | The original tx msg coin | Project Alexandria on: April 02, 2016, 01:15:47 AM
after I upgrade I get this:

Error: Error initializing wallet database environment /home/user/.florincoin!

even tried removing everything but wallet. Still didn't work. Then removed the whole folder and even still....

Any ideas?

What OS?

Edit: by the path you stated it's implied it's a Linux/Unix variant but which specifically and 32 or 64 bit?

ubuntu 14.04 x64

I'm just going to hit you with a series of questions quick Wink

Did you compile from source or using the static binary posted above?
Which version of berkeley db? Boost?
Which did you use on the previous version?
Qt or daemon?
What's the permissions of the ~/.florincoin directory?

yeah compiled daemon from src,

I tried with berkley 4.8 then 5.3.28
boost 1.54
drwxrwxr-x .florincoin

Previous version was db4.8 and same boost.

Not seeing anything standout wrong there but if you want to use your old wallet.dat be sure to compile with berkeley db 4.8 again.

Would you be open to trying the prebuilt gitian binaries posted by Devon above? I compiled them using gitian or if you want you could run through the gitian build process yourself located here:

https://github.com/dloa/florincoin/blob/master-0.10/doc/gitian-building.md
And

329  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bounty - Need a developer to create a splitting and forwarding app on: March 31, 2016, 02:23:02 AM
and you want all that for 1.0 BTC ?

cheapest freelancers on earth (Indian or Pakistani) will not accept that price.

You can actually just go to the lively services forum right here on BitcoinTalk and ask for a developer! Good luck! It's a lovely idea!

If you were to read the post you'd see that someone is already working on it so I doubt he had any trouble finding a developer.

You can make backup all blockchain and it is stored in appdata/roaming/sia folder.

That is incorrect. I struck it out just so no one mistakenly follows it.

The contents in the roaming folder are unrelated to Sia and are Electron files to speed up operation of the UI.

If you intend to backup your data it is all stored in the same folder you installed Sia in a series of folders at either:

install-dir/siad.exe
install-dir/siac.exe
install-dir/wallet/ (Contains wallet.json)
install-dir/consensus/ (Contains blockchain)
install-dir/gateway/
install-dir/host/ (Contains any hosting contracts you may have)
install-dir/renter/ (Contains .sia files to retrieve your uploads)

or

install-dir/sia-ui.exe
install-dir/resources/app/siad.exe
install-dir/resources/app/siac.exe
install-dir/resources/app/wallet/ (Contains wallet.json)
install-dir/resources/app/consensus/ (Contains blockchain)
install-dir/resources/app/gateway/
install-dir/resources/app/host/ (Contains any hosting contracts you may have)
install-dir/resources/app/renter/ (Contains .sia files to retrieve your uploads)

(I might not have the paths exactly right since this is from memory right now but that's the idea)

This is probably a dumb question. How often would you like us to add in a time stamp? Is this supposed to be every minute or so or every sentence/paragraph? I was looking through th Wikipedia article but I thought I'd better just ask what you expect. Thanks.

That's something I wasn't entirely sure on, I guess depending on how long the lines get maybe every 30 seconds?
333  Economy / Services / Re: WWII potentially new work. Audio transcription. on: March 24, 2016, 08:35:23 AM
Never mid. I surrender Cry. This job is too tedious and I don't think I'm up for it since the bounty is too little for such a task. Maybe someone else can take my place? I'm really sorry. Tongue

Not a problem. Have a good day/night Wink

I'm interested on working parts 15-17. Also sent you a pm a few days back but it seems you were not able to read it. Anyways, willing to work on the parts I've stated in this post.

Ok, I'll skip the sentences and go for bullet points.

  • Don't ask me if you can do a document, check the list
  • Don't PM me, post in the thread
  • Claim documents by quoting the list, add your name on an empty line

I've suggested dev Verge smoothing out inflation. For those who don't know Bitcoin is discussing doing the same thing.

I took a brief look at lolgato1's submissions since he submitted 3 files via PM within 45 minutes they were obviously automated and not even close to correct. I also looked at txbtc's submission with 55 minutes (for a 66 minute file) between expressing interest and being "complete" it's also quite terrible and obviously automated.

As for everyone else, don't ask me if you can do a document and please don't PM me it gets hard to track and others don't know you are working on something so it gets confusing for all involved. If you want to claim a document quote the list of parts and place your name next to the one you want as I already stated.

As for time stamps if you're feeling up for it, I don't know what software to use other than I just saw a couple lyric editors when I was poking around which would probably work.

It's illegal for sure ?
Well ya caught me so.. feel free to call the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and tell them i stole some MP3's.
..i will be the one hiding under my bed.  Cry

Why the change in attitude?

It's not illegal in Canada.. we also pay a blank media tax that goes to the CRIAA.

Piracy IS illegal in Canada.

But Spoetnik doesn't care - he lives off social assistance anyway.   Undecided

nope & nope.

keep trolling fat fuck.

339  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Want to buy Alias script on: March 23, 2016, 05:01:20 AM
What exactly are you looking for?

Something like bitalias where it's all on the blockchain, or some simple site that stores bitcoinaddress|alias in a database?
Any verification system or just first come first serve?

Here's another similar service that looks pretty cool https://netki.com/#/home

also implement ban for chinese IPs, lol

Wouldn't that go against a large part of what crypto is hoping to accomplish? Additionally if anyone is using TOR or I2P that doesn't help anyway.
