- the ability to upload files larger than 500MB

I think the limit is now 5GB in 0.4 which is coming soon

I sold all my SIACOINS when the OSX GUI wouldn't allow me to copy my SIA wallet address. Am I supposed to type out the whole thing by eye sight?

That should be fixed in the next version, 0.4
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: September 04, 2015, 12:58:23 AM
I know it's in beta but I'm not working for you...so until stuff like this is ironed out don't wonder why no one is using it.

There are thousands of people who were able to download Sia and get it working. And on average they have uploaded less than one file each.

I'm sorry that you are having troubles, but if you refuse to help us figure out what the issue is, we can't improve your experience. Maybe you should come back in 3 months. The beta is working fine for many people, and we are grateful for all the help that they have given us. We couldn't have gotten this far without the mountains of feedback we've received so far. And some volunteer developers have started making non-trivial contributions to the proejct, which is going to help significantly in the long run.

I for one am going to focus on building Sia for the needs of the people who are most excited about it and willing to tolerate all of the turbulence associated with the early stages of the product. They are the users who are most important to me, and they are  the ones who will get their feature requests prioritized.

I have to somewhat agree with nextgencoin. I have a certification in Computer Networking, specializing in Cisco Systems (Router, Switches, LAN and WAN). I can't even get the wallet to work and so I couldn't mine it, that why I'm focusing on Ethereum and the Eth clones with DAPPS. I've try all in the tutorials, read me's, open ports on my router and machine, and even turn off my firewall. The upnp needs to be added to the wallet, as much as some people will complain of security issues with upnp, but just connecting to the internet is always a chance of a security issue and anyone is naive to think otherwise.

The decentralized storage of this project need to be promoted more effectively. I like it's a working model, but that won't matter if people aren't convinced and trust the security factor of it.

The wallet does have upnp support, although that might be new to the 0.4 version

If you truly are cetified then you would know that saying "it won't work" is useless. What won't work? Won't run, sync, upload, mine?

Check your .log files for errors, take some initiative.  You're certified you know how to do this.

I'm running siacoin in linux, and I'm wondering before I deposit some siacoins from an exchange, how do I backup or save my wallet?
Also, where is the blockchain stored? Is there a block explorer?
Thanks.

- Depends what version of sia you are running
- Block chain is stored in the same folder as siad
- http://explore.siacoin.com

I'm curious now. What was the nature of this "crippling" that allowed for such a large speedup?
Can we see the change in source code? Or an explanation of how the computation is being done
differently now?

You can take a look at the commit: https://github.com/nicehash/cpuminer-multi/commit/57bd235705b5e4dce1af20b25ee60703c83cb899

Thanks, sandor111, but that is a big commit with thousands of lines changed in multiple files.
Could you point to or describe the change that had the most impact on performance?

That's the thing though, the developers are working very hard to make these improvements. Most if not all of that was likely necessary to achieve such speeds. It's not as simple as changing a line or two here or there and calling it a day.

Hi
i am running siad on one terminal, and on other terminal trying to run siac status:

sl@sl:~$ siac status
Could not get daemon status: Browser access disabled due to security vulnerability. Use Sia-UI or siac.

it gives me error to use siac..and i am using siac
how to solve this ?

Are you using Go 1.5?

There seems to be an issue with siac when run on 1.5, it should be fixed soon or in the meantime try Go 1.4 if you don't mind.

yes... go 1.5
will try with go 1.4
thanks

A pull request w a just merged that should resolve this issue and allow you to run go 1.5 if you wish.

This is certainly a good thing, the old blockexplorer.com was a very rough experience.

"Internet Private Access", should that actually read Private Internet Access?

3) Please post your adress with 50k coins and tx out/in now with a random number, let's say 3.01 to give proof on another one of your "facts".

50k on an exchange would not show on an address for him to do that

Bitspill, he could simply send the whole thing to the wallet and back to the exchange with the 3.01 sent seperately within a minute if he really wanted to.

That's pretty hard to do though if he just said he sold them.

And you believe someone who never commented prior to the current trolling, crying about John potentially buying FPGAs from the free market, opening a topic to try and develop fpga mining for a potential competitor and stating at the same time that he just sold 50k, because he had enough. Also not replying on people asking him for proof.

Note to self: unicorns are real.

It's not that I believe him, in all likelihood he never had the coins. What I was trying to point out is that a lack of evidence does not inherently mean it didn't happen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance

"If a proposition has not been proven, then it cannot be considered true and must therefore be considered false."
"If bitl0ck can't prove he had and sold 50k, then it cannot be possible he ever had them and is therefore troll."

Was recently sold and has decent feedback. I really think with it being sold it should not be green.

I was the account making wakka622 green, I have just changed that to a neutral rating and it now shows as "0: -0 / +0"

This is quite a bit later but, do you still need this to be completed?

1) It would keep from writing a script that constantly (x period) crawls the entire site, pulling images and everything (which would be a waste of bandwidth on your end)

A crawler script should not be loading the images, unless you are automating your entire browser or something.

Any crawler scripts should load only the html markup which is still a lot more text than an api but it's not "too much" compared to the images.

I was thinking about using something like a document import through PHP (it's been a while, but basically just pull in the page and parse what's needed from there). I figured that would also include images and such as well?

Using something like file_get_contents(url)? That would only include the html markup text and not include any images.

However lets not derail this thread too much, if you would like to chat a bit more PM me.

Your windows link got removed by the forum.

That's a lot of fancy graphics, but where is the source code and can these coins even be used anywhere yet? Or is it just another ico cash grab?

As it has been pointed out the house edge is abnormally high for a game like that. Is there a reason you keep it that high? I think it holds back a lot of people from trying the site out. Would you consider lowering it?

The admin hasn't been online since July 16th and his last post in this thread was June 2014, I don't think your chances of getting an answer are very high.

Would you have any interest in an http://oppaiti.me invite?

Currently only ~250 users and ~1500 torrents however it is still young and getting on it's feet

I'm interested to become a member of any torrent community, however if you want to sell me account or invite to it, I don't see it's value atm, since it's tracker level is unknown.

PM me an email address and I'll shoot you an invite. I'd just like to see it grow

Why don't you make a 24 hours free-signup campaign? That way, you could get a lot of users.

PM sent, thanks

I don't run the site. I'm just an early user.

However they basically give away the invites to anyone who jumps on irc and asks.

Edit: sent
