K1 klondike

2-Aug-2013

Price update on K16 miner beta
Batch 500 to 1000 pcs - price  18 EUR including 0.02 BTC fee for BKKcoins

June 3
We got a quotation from diferent suplier for both PCB and assembly for 1000 batch order

I got a quote on Klondike K1 nano board for PCB,testing of the board and assembly - about 10 EUR per piece for 192 pcs batches and 6.15 EUR for 1000 pcs batch. Based on 3 weeks lead time
Components for 192 pieces batch - 5.92 EUR
I'll add to the cost  2 USD (or 0.02 BTC) per piece to be sent to BKKcoins for the effort in design and development.
The other options the boards to be ordered with him and to make only assembly  here. For this I have to calculate later lead time and price
My fee to organize everything would be 10 %
So do the math 10 + 5.92 = 15.92*1.1 = 17.50 EUR + 0.02 BTC sent to developer
So do the math 6.15 + 5.92 = 12.07*1.1 = 13.277 EUR + 0.02 BTC sent to developer for 1000 pcs batch

K16 Klondike

02-Aug-13
Price update on K16 miner beta
Batch 500 to 1000 pcs - price  45 EUR including 0.04 BTC fee for BKKcoins

31-May-13
We got a quotation from diferent suplier for both PCB and assembly for 1000 batch order

Just for information
PCB + test + assembly - About 31 EUR per piece for batches of 200 pcs based on 3 weeks lead time
PCB + test + assembly - About 27 20.5 EUR per piece for batches of 1000 pcs based on 3 weeks lead time
Components for 200 pieces batch - 18.85 EUR
Components for 1000 pieces batch - 14.85 12.477 EUR
I'll add to the cost 4 Usd or 0.04 BTC per piece for BKKcoins
My fee to organize everything would be 10 %
So do the math 31 + 18.85 = 49.85*1.1 = 54.835 EUR + 0.04 BTC sent to developer for 200 boards batch
So do the math 20.5 + 12.477 = 32.977*1.1 = 36.275 EUR + 0.04 BTC sent to developer for 1000 boards batch

Във втория пост има информация и на български
The prices in bigger batches are better , so I'm posting this just to explore potential interest of European Avalon chip owners willing to have K1 nano design made.
We are also working on our own design on bigger boards (10 or 16) , but it's still early to announce details.

In a few days I'll post cost info, just after I get more components/PCB/assembly quotes.

Generally the purpose of the thread is to announce We'll make Avalon based miners as a service to chip owners.
We  are going to offer 4 separate things:

1. 1 chip USB miner based on Klondike K1  and K16 and We will offer
      - PCB production and test
      - Assembly with components except Avalon chip , provided by customer
K16 sample cad with heatsink and fan

4XK16 sample cad daisychained on  200x200 heatsink

Complete miner - 8x K16 stacked on 4 200x100 heatsinks with fans and enclosure

K1 case and heat sink design

      link to Klondike project https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.0

2. Our own design 16 chip miner based on Avalon chip , again with customers chip
      -TECHNOBIT HEX 16A
cg miner drivers are ready.
HEX 16 hashing @ 370 Mhz with a few tweaks to be done

Hashing @ 300 mhzHashing @ 350 mhz

16 bit PIC with bootloader USB

3. Custom heat sinks for K16 , our own 10 chip and Original Avalon design heat sink
      - These are in design, the price for avalon original design is not ready yet
K16 heat sink

4. 2 models Full enclosed miner based on K16 and our own 16 chip

Pricing is going to be transparent: I'm going to provide separate cost for PCB,assembly, components, heat sinks, enclosures, power supply, assembly, designer fee for Klondike with no added value . At the end I'll ask some fee for the efforts.
I'll post updates as soon I'm getting quotations from suppliers.
Do have in mind , that Klondike design is not fully finished , so there may be changes in time

Later maybe in September I'll go for retail units, but it depends on so many factors, so it's maybe , maybe not.

If You do not have chips , You can order here

1783  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 21, 2013, 01:38:59 PM
Today I got quote from local company for PCB and assembly of K1 nano.
The price for pcb and assembly would be around 10 EUR per piece  for batch of 192 pcs.

Now I'm waiting for quote for delivery of components.

I think We'll be able to organize good price for assembly BG, Eastern Europe
1784  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [CLOSED] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: May 21, 2013, 11:04:08 AM
own ; marto74

I plan to make own design in Sofia, Bulgaria and also
BKK K1 board
1785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 20, 2013, 09:48:26 PM
So 35 x 165 is the standard profile.
The heat sink dimension machined are 80 x 90 mm 35 mm high.
The price is including machining and raw material . Machining : drilled holes, countersinks for clamping springs, surface machining on mating area and power connector release .
To provide cad (parasolid and dwg/dxf) i need PCB cad transferred to dxf or any machining cad
 I got it
1786  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 20, 2013, 06:04:45 PM
I think what we need is a 90 x 80 mm maybe 1.5 inches height and fins in one direction. Drilled in 4 places to accommodate 4-40 screws.
Also if the fins are narrow then drill the fins to accept a spring and long bolt on that side, a bit wider than bolt. The heat sink should probably not be tightened directly to the board but have springs for pressure, much like CPU heat sinks usually have. I think wider fin spacing is likely better anyway as it will allow better air flow. I'm not an expert on thermals but I suspect that narrow fin spacing are better suited to convection (passive) use.

Ideally there would be a group of holes or non-thru hole dents made at the PCIe power connector location to allow for pin protrusion. I've allowed for an alternate Phoneix SMD power connector but that is not as standard and easy to use a solution as a PCIe connector. So if custom heat sink machining is done it makes sense to include this.
So in batches of 200 pcs
Price will be 3.62 EUR , including profile 35 mm x 165 mm, machining of holes and release for spring clamping and power connector nest, surface machining on the back.
As soon I get some info I asked BKK, I'll provide CAD of the heat sink.
Price is based on available profile here on stock.

If I'm reading that correctly...35mm width x 35mm length x 165mm height ~(1.4 x 1.4 x 6.5 inches)? Made of aluminum? Where do I sign up for 200 of them?!? (I have 800 chips on order.)

Or is that 35x165mm to cover one side of the board (8 ASICs)

Side note...would that be one full extruded aluminum piece and NOT two-part (base with fins mechanically attached)?

 Shocked

Ok I'll check in monday with Alu profile suplier for more suitable raw profile.
I'll prepare a Cad drawing and will post here .
After We decide it'll work I'll send to you the CAD to be added to the project

I am speaking with manufacturers to have heatsinks made for the Klondike board. Having heatsinks made is going to be less expensive than purchasing and modifying any current solution. I need to know who is planning on purchasing boards, what quantity, and whether or not they would want a heatsink.

Specs are:
100x100x25mm
3mm base
1mm fins
2mm spacing
6000 series aluminum
4 mounting holes drilled, located in center of each 4 chip group.
Flat base/underside

This is a one time deal. Enough heatsinks need to be purchased to cover all the boards, with a few extra. Purchasing additional heatsinks in low quantity will be prohibitively expensive. These heatsinks will not be made available to the general public. They will only be made available to those offering bulk purchasing as I cannot sell these piecemeal. I will be offering as part of a package to those who purchase chips through me.

Group buy coordinators, Large private buyers, and Klondike resellers need to contact me ASAP.
Hi,
I own custom machined parts shop .( EU based)
We do a lot of custom fans .
May be it'll be a  good way to use standad Alu profile to be cut and drilled to specs.
Most probably it's going to be with ribs in one direction .
In a day or two I provide calculation based on your specs
I am interested marto. It may turn out that i will be able to pick up my heatsinks locally Smiley. Buy the way can you make some calcs for original Avalon heat sink also. It may turn out that i (and other folks) will need some of them also.
Here is the link

Yes, of course , I'll have to check for availble profile. Original is cut/drilled in standard profile too.

On topic
here is sample drawing with a profile that we source for our customer
