681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 09, 2023, 12:37:41 AM
Do not gamble if you are depressed, guilty, feeling desperate, or whenever there's a strong emotion running inside you. You can't gamble when your focus is on something else.

Also, if you are not rich, don't go to a casino or a gambling club bringing so much money. In other words, don't bring with you money which you can't afford to lose even if you're only planning to gamble a small portion of it. If possible, bring only what you intend to gamble. That would also mean you shouldn't be carrying with you your credit and debit cards.
682  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 09, 2023, 12:04:00 AM
Not yet at least. But the general direction is probably going there. With China's labor cost going up higher and India becoming one of the main options for companies exiting China, the potential is there. Not to mention that India is already an industrialized country, its people very able to cater the needs of a globalized world with its English proficiency, its socio-political environment much healthier, and so on.

It doesn't help that China's economy is imploding and its huge real-estate market seems to be in a state of crisis. Problems are rising in the red country.
683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to value bitcoin and cryptocurrencies? on: November 08, 2023, 03:57:12 AM
There are multiple factors at play in assigning value to Bitcoin. Bitcoin's features are to be considered, of course. The process of producing Bitcoin will have be considered as well. It's not just Bitcoin's decentralized system and limited supply that count but also the fact that a coin costs energy and technologies to produce. Another factor is its relevance and alternatives. Are there other options for those who wish to enjoy the benefits provided by Bitcoin? Is there an urge for people to get into Bitcoin? I think these are all factors, among others, in giving value to Bitcoin.
684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Information for beginners in the Crypto world on: November 08, 2023, 02:38:40 AM
I think it should be made clear to beginners right from the start what a currency means. A currency is money, a medium of exchange. Cryptocurrency has already grown into something else. So it cannot anymore be defined simply as digital currencies. In the first place, the huge majority of cryptocurrencies nowadays aren't acceptable in any store anywhere in the world.

Second, we have this common assumption that crypto is decentralized. It isn't. There are so many cryptocurrencies that are centralized.

I guess we should avoid equating Bitcoin with cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is cryptocurrency, the real cryptocurrency. But it cannot be vice versa. Not every cryptocurrency is Bitcoin. Others may be saying Bitcoin, not crypto, but I don't agree. Bitcoin is crypto. What is not crypto are those shitcoins claiming to be such.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: at which point of a boxing match you consider cashingout? on: November 08, 2023, 01:56:42 AM
I normally won't cash out. When I place my bet on someone or a team, it's because I believe in him/her/them winning. I won't bet on a boxer if I think he/she will lose. So even if cashing out early already gives me a profit, I probably would stick to my bet until the end.

Even if I bet on an underdog hoping for an upset, I always think my bet is right. And an early knock down like what Ngannou did to Fury is validation enough that my bet is right. I may be wrong in the end but when the tide seems to be on my fighter's favor, that certainly won't be a time to doubt him. So there'd be no cashing out.
686  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase delisting BSV :) on: November 08, 2023, 01:32:57 AM
Not a big deal. This isn't even news anymore. There's nothing surprising. What's probably surprising is that Coinbase is perhaps too late in cutting its support for BSV. It was also late in delisting this shitcoin. Other exchanges have done it years ahead of them.

Anyway, this is good news. Perhaps what's even better and probably next for this shitcoin is to lose support from wallets. The likes of Coinomi, Exodus, Edge, and others are still supporting this shitcoin.
687  Economy / Economics / Re: "I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today" on: November 08, 2023, 12:54:42 AM
Financial freedom is basically when you don't worry about money anymore, or at least not that much. If you can purchase that luxurious perfume without sacrificing your other basic needs, savings, and others, then you're financially free. If you can build a big house, buy a nice car, abundantly provide your family's needs and wants, and so forth, you're financially free.

It matters, however, whether your stream of income comes from salary, business revenue, dividend, and so on. While I consider an employee having a huge regular salary as financially free, he/she is not to be compared with somebody who can take a vacation everyday because he/she doesn't have to work to earn, even if the former earns more than the latter. It makes a huge difference.

Having said this, we should set our priorities. If something is unnecessary, it might be better not to buy it and save the money instead or use it to give you additional source of income. The goal is certainly not only financial freedom but a free life.
688  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does anyone know where I can purchase CBD flower with btc online? on: November 08, 2023, 12:24:08 AM
You might want to try using spendabit.co. I'm not vouching for it, but it's simply a search engine for goods and services which are sold or offered by establishments or stores which accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. You may, then, purchase or inquire directly from the store.

You can filter your search to the United States and your choice of cryptocurrency. You can even filter it further according to your merchant of choice and your price range.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's happening with Bitcoin transaction fees? on: November 08, 2023, 12:03:50 AM
This Ordinals thing has not completely died yet. There are still little news or developments every now and then which somehow resuscitate it. ORDI's listing on Binance, for example, is one of them. But I don't think Ordinals is still as popular as it was before. It had a quick golden age and it is now facing its sunset.

I've just checked the mempool and there are still 138,028 unconfirmed transactions and high priority fee is a staggering 100 Sat/vB. Even so, I don't see this as permanent. This will all subside sooner rather than later. The hype of Ordinals will die.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I did just to invest in Bitcoin. on: November 06, 2023, 04:41:25 AM
I wish you the best. What else can I say? You've already sold the land. LOL!

Although this may likely prove to be a good decision in the end as far as ROI is concerned, what you did could have caused you so much, even your life. That was wise as far as putting the money in Bitcoin was concerned, but that wasn't wise as far as selling what's not entirely yours is concerned. You could have been arrested for selling what also belongs to your relatives. Worse, you could have gotten yourself shot or your head chopped off because you're like stealing what also theirs.
691  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the right age for financial stability? on: November 06, 2023, 01:58:55 AM
Financial stability is for everyone regardless of age. It's just that people have different needs and wants, and age is sometimes a factor. Another factor is your resources. You don't have to prioritize savings or investment especially if what you have is limited. Although there are parents who teach their young children to save, a child doesn't actually think about that. A child only wants toys.

All I'm saying is that we're sometimes too futuristic that we forget about the present. If you're young, it isn't bad to go out and spend your money and travel and enjoy life.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are too focused on history repeating itself on: November 05, 2023, 12:09:16 PM
You are speaking as if 2020 was a bad year for Bitcoin. It wasn't. There was COVID, yeah, but it was a fantastic year for Bitcoin. It was as though there wasn't a global pandemic happening, wreaking havoc in every country's economy. The year opened with the price of Bitcoin at around $6,000. By the time the year closed, the price had already risen more than $20,000. And then the rise continued the following year even though it was still a pandemic year. Although the price corrected around the middle of 2021, it quickly recovered and registered an ATH by the last quarter.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 05, 2023, 10:08:51 AM
I'm not familiar with this streamer but with how huge the accumulated amount of bets that he has already placed, I wonder whether this gambler is sponsored. There are streamers who are actually gambling other people's money. I mean, they are like influencers. They're paid by a gambling company to stream their games on the sponsor's betting platform or casino. Whatever amount of bet they place, they are actually using money from the sponsor.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FTX CEO Sam Bankman Fried found guilty on: November 04, 2023, 12:53:50 PM
Sam Bankman-Fried deserves it. I was relieved when I heard this news the first time over Twitter. I was afraid Sam Bankman-Fried, thanks to his connections and donations in the past, could get away from justice. It seemed to me that justice was too lenient on him. He seemed to be given special treatment. But then this came out. I hope he will serve his time in jail.

And let this be a strong reminder to anybody who is running a centralized crypto platform not to mess with people's money. They're merely custodians. That their clients made deposits to their platforms doesn't mean they have absolute freedom over their money.
695  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will it affect you in any way if Binance completely shuts down ? on: November 04, 2023, 03:58:49 AM
I know there will be lot of devastating affects on crypto market of this incidence like bitcoin price will fall very sharply. Many users will also loose funds and some will loose faith on crypto.

Bitcoin will recover as it did in past however I wonder how much effect will be on BNB as it's native token of supposedly decentralized chains of opBNB and BSC.

The effect on Bitcoin is indirect and temporary. In the long run, the fall of Binance and even the rest of the centralized exchanges shall be beneficial to Bitcoin and even its price. I believe the price of Bitcoin would be a lot higher if there aren't centralized exchanges. But the effect on BNB would be tragic. Binance's collapse would be fatal to BNB even if BNB is now more than just a native coin of Binance exchange. Binance is now like a prostitute but it still is an exchange more than anything else. Binance exchange remains to be the lifeblood of BNB.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the odds of guessing someone's private key or seedphrase? on: November 04, 2023, 03:20:11 AM
I'm wondering, given how fast technology is developing in this age, will there be a way in the future by which private keys could be deciphered?

We've been here in the same situation in the past right? Can we compare this with cars, planes, submarines, bombs, electricity, phones, computer, internet? A hundred years ago, it would have been unimaginable for young kids to have their own gadgets which can perform astronomical computations. Today, it's nothing amazing.

I mean, will there be a time when household or personal computers are powerful enough to guess private keys? If we look back, it seems very possible.
697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conclusion after losing millions! that games are rigged. on: November 04, 2023, 02:42:39 AM
Well, results of provably fair games are verifiable by anybody. So there's that. But I'm curious, is it possible that crypto casinos utilize open-source software in whatever they implement?

Anyway, in general, don't be too surprised when you gamble and lose. That should be the general outcome, anyway. There's the house edge. You cannot turn it the other way around. That would mean death to the casino industry.

I'm not sure if this is partly psychological. I have experienced this in gambling both online and offline. So, it's possible that it's our brains that are tricking us. The reality could simply be that we lose or we're unlucky or it's coincidence.
698  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 04, 2023, 02:21:16 AM
At times we probably should take Elon seriously; at times we shouldn't. And, at times, we cannot easily tell whether we should take him seriously or not.

Surely, there will be jobs which will be replaced by AI, and it's better that way. It makes our lives easier and more convenient. But it doesn't mean AI will put an end to work. I don't think robots can replace all human labors, all sense of human reason and logic, and so on.

Being somebody who's into space exploration, does Elon Musk believe that AI and robots alone can send the first humans to Mars?
699  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Timely Secret to Profit on: November 03, 2023, 12:49:46 PM
The Bitcoin market doesn't rest. That's true even on weekends or at night or during the upcoming holiday season. It's always open.

Looking at your ranking I trust you are experience in the financial market. As long as Humans have been trading even as far back to the Japanese trade of rice I can say boldly there is no financial market that does not rest. I did not say you should agree with me but do well to fact check on this matter.

A market may be open 24/7 for all doesn't mean there is engagement. Once you see a Range and a consolidation for a period know that the factor I made mention is in effect. Parameters to check to confirm my assertion are; Volume, Volatility and liquidity. You will see a clear difference.

My rank doesn't actually mean much. Surely, there are members here who have lower ranks but have much more knowledge and wisdom than me.

Anyway, trading is probably as old as humanity. But we're talking of crypto here. Such market isn't the conventional market. Yes, we need to fact check on this. I'm interested to know the bases of your claim. As for mine, you can check the data here: https://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/volume/5y?c=e&t=b.

You will see there that the months of November and December, the closing months of each year, aren't necessarily the months when trading takes a rest. Yes, the year winds up in these months, but it doesn't mean lesser activity in the crypto market. As a matter of fact, the volume even increased in the past Novembers and Decembers.

Quote
Although the Novembers and Decembers in the past couple of years closed in the negative, we cannot accurately tell that it will be the same this year. And there isn't really a solid pattern from which we can generalize that the last two months of every year would be negative.

You are correct we cannot generalized. However, history repeats itself but I have not said or I will not say that it will end in negative. I only advice that we should be very observant pick your support or resistance carefully and profit from it.

If history repeats itself, then whether the price of Bitcoin in November and December is in red or in green, that's still history repeating as there were both red and green Novembers and Decembers in the past.

Yes, support and resistance are two of the most important things that traders need to locate. To those who aren't very good in charting though, keep hodling. Hodlers may be rewarded more than traders in the end.
700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin? on: November 03, 2023, 12:08:11 PM
The right time is always now. If you have doubts as to whether your buying is on the right timing, then try to divide your money and purchase Bitcoin now and then later. DCA if you must. But I don't support putting off your purchase. The direction of Bitcoin is generally upward. There may be volatility in shorter time intervals, but you will see that Bitcoin is generally appreciating if you zoom out. You just have to set it right at the start that you are set for the long term.
