Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Sustainability of BTC

With the power requirements to run the BTC network continually increasing... what is the long term solution? It doesn't seem viable that it can go on forever like this. Anyone have good insight? It's easy to just assume... "well there will be cheaper energy in the future" or "BTC will just switch to POS".... I guess I'm looking for answers with a little more substance and detail. Thanks!

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BTC/Lightning Network

If someone can clear up a fee things?
1. The lightning network is already being used successfully by Litecoin correct?
2. When is it scheduled to be implemented with BTC?
3. Once lightning is fully implemented into BTC, what kind of impact... how much will it improve the BTC network?
Thanks.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEO - long term hold

If you want to invest long term, you need to pay attention to the issues around it. Suppose offline wallets need to upgrade to the new version and they give investors time to move their coins to their new wallets. If you have invested, you need to follow it regularly to catch up with the latest information from the project, I mean technically from the project.
That's part of my point point... while I'll be paying attention to basic news surrounding NEO I'm not looking to have to constantly upgrade the GUI wallet... which is why I was thinking web wallet because the "maintenance" is less.

This stuff drives me crazy...
Downloaded NEO GUI wallet. Have a password, generated an address... where the hell are the private keys?
If my laptop blows up... can I retrieve my account with password and address only? Wouldn't I need private keys?
Just right-click on your address and select "View Private Key". There you have it Will check that out. Thanks.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NEO - long term hold

I'm thinking about buying a chunk of NEO and just "forgetting" about it for a couple of years while earning GAS. Is the web wallet safe enough for this to hold? Of course I'm talking about storing private keys and passwords offline, etc... I'd probably barely log in.
The reason why I'm thinking web wallet over GUI wallet is... I'm not going to be paying attention to wallet upgrades or re-donloading the blockchain etc. Other than checking on the price of NEO I probably won't be too involved checking updates etc.
Comments, recommendations?
Thanks.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Stratis

I'm researching Stratis but wondering about the price dip, drop since the spring. Anything specific that has contributed to it? Dev team not meeting goals? Love what I'm reading on STRAT but price seems to be in a slump.
Comments from STRAT users and those familiar with the project?

Why is this project not getting more hype? Originally developed at Disney, a blockchain for business that aims to simplify things... among other advantages. You'd think there would be a ton of chatter around this ICO? Just too many ICOs being released that this one is flying under the radar?
No, there is a reason the project didn't familiar for everyone in here, Maybe that project was another garbage project. But what do you mean originally developed at disney? it seems not to be a good reason to hype this project. https://dragonchain.com/The project was initially started under/in-conjunction with Disney as Disney's own private blockchain project. Eventually became open source and taken over by the Dragonchain Foundation. Project leader (Joe Roets) was at Disney for three years working on the project. Seems interesting to me, surprised it's not getting more hype.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEO - The Ethereum of China (Invest before you regret)

I dont think that NEO has a future, it pumped hard because it was tottaly involved in China ICO market. With sch kind of a news where ICOs are forbidden, NEO can start aiming to another markets, but can it compete with ETH? Probably not.
ETH and NEO (and others) are in exactly the same spot aren't they? Chinese ICOs can't be started on their platform. Or someone correct me? If an ICO from Japan wants to use NEO the Chinese are going to do what (other than banning their cituzens)? The NEO team is in China... but so what? I guess if things got really bad they could be arrested... they could also leave the country and go somewhere else.

Does the NEO team move from China? If nothing more to help with perception?
It's still not clear to me how (or if?) the current Chinese situation hurts NEO? Ok, there can't be an ICO based in China... whether it's on NEO, or ETH, or whatever... NEO is open to ICOs coming from all other parts of the word... the same as ETH and others. What ultimately is the impact on NEO then?
