181  Economy / Economics / Re: Spending Bitcoins on: April 17, 2017, 09:23:50 PM
I am not spending my bitcoins at a moment in real world as there are no shops in my area that accepts bitcoins so I am spending them only on trading sites as the usage and acceptance of bitcoins is very limited in real world at a moment.

If you cannot spend them directly then you can sell them and convert them to fiat currency and the better option would be to have bitcoin debit card as it can be easily used at online as well as offline places for buying anything.

There are places in the world like as in Japan where is very easy to spend directly your coins. Recently, one of the biggest electronic retailer shop in conjunction with a bitcoin payment processor company they developed a new point-of-sale system (POS) that allow customers to purchase goods with bitcoin up to (900 usd). More here.
182  Other / Off-topic / Re: 8-Year-Old Ohio Boy Drives His Little Sister to McDonald's After Learning... on: April 17, 2017, 08:58:17 PM
To my point of view, in order a child 8 years old to get the car keys and use the car means that already knew the basics of driving. Therefore one of the two parents had already learned him how to do (I wonder why the parents doing something like that). In my opinion both of the parents showed criminal indifference and negligence in the upbringing of their children. The police and the court would be impose to them strict penalty because of their behavior.
What! Everything you said is based on assumptions, kids pick things up pretty quick so it wouldn't surprise me that a kid knows how to put a key in a car, probably seen his dad do it 1000 times already.
You can't really blame the parents for this and especially not so when you don't know them.

Of course I don't know the parents of the kid but If I'm not mistaken according to the law the parents are responsible for their children until they reach on their adulthood. Is not that right? On the other hand if the driver (8 years old) was causing an accident, say a crash with another car or if a pedestrian got hurt who would be responsible? The child or any of the parents? At last driving a car is not only to put the key in a car but someone have know to pull the hand brake put the lever of the gearbox from parking to drive and so on.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your bitcoins? on: April 16, 2017, 10:02:02 PM
Currently I use two wallets. First one is a web wallet that is, a bc.i and the other is a desktop wallet. The latter is the electrum portable which I use at most as savings account trying to don't use to spend for any reasons. I am thinking that may be in the future I need a hardware wallet but till now these two are sufficient for my needs.

185  Economy / Economics / Re: "European Central Bank: Still Too early for Blockchain Technology" on: April 15, 2017, 01:35:21 PM
Really, I can not understand, even though I live in Europe, why the ECB is so cumbersome compared with the central banks of other countries. Probably because it is the central bank of the 19 EU countries that have adopted the euro and the board which is the key of the ECB decision-making body is composed except from the six executive board members and from the governors of the national central banks of the 19 countries which belong to eurozone area.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: transaction unconfirmed since 4 days 1 hours on: April 15, 2017, 10:22:13 AM
Just now I used viabtc accelerator for your tx and the message was that acceleration succeeded. Moreover, now the network is not so busy like as before yesterday. Therefore, your tx eventually will be confirmed.

EDIT: Just now has one confirmation https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/f45920620850e682b80f31e2b5dc50d19f709c42b307670a3edf67a4c980fdaa/
187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: It became known why Trump bombed Syria. on: April 15, 2017, 09:22:40 AM
I searched the net but I did not find something about the actions of Tramp like the OP was claimed. If there is some source such as a web link so as to read it would be good to inform us. Although I consider that Trump is unpredictable it is difficult to believe that he thought to proceed in this action because he would like to convince the Chinese president that USA will act alone with N.Korea without asking China's permission.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin dies, what alt would you go for? on: April 14, 2017, 05:06:40 PM
It’s a complicated issue, but as I see it the most sure thing, for me, would be that I could go back to fiat. But if we assume that I want to stay in crypto world I would go with two alts. The first one is ltc and the second in monero. Ltc because is some years around meaning that has gain the people's trust, and has some features like as faster block confirmation time and is cheap, so would be widely accepted from people. However the anonymity, privacy and untraceablility of monero inspires me what a cryptocurrency must be. If we want censorship then why not use paypal and visa cards which are buyer friendly medium of payment?
189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any good books about bitcoins? on: April 14, 2017, 02:52:24 PM
I agree with all of the members above have proposed the book of Andreas Antonopoulos which is an excellent one in this category. On the other side I believe that is more suitable for coders as the author writes in the preface of his book. In my personal opinion about two months ago I was enrolled in a MOOC of Princeton University which was offered in Coursera platform and I would propose at first, if you can afford the money, this book which I consider that is more general and introductory in bitcoin world.
190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hardware wallet? on: April 14, 2017, 02:31:04 PM
Most users above have recommend trezor which really is a very good wallet but the company sells only one model and imo, in not a so competitive price. From my point of view I would propose the ledger company because offers more than one products so for every pocket. Therefore, according the money you are willing to spend or the specifications you ask from a hardware wallet you can choose the model you will buy.
191  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: [BLockchain]Is Secret Phrase 12 words in the Wallet? on: April 13, 2017, 04:59:20 PM
I think the passphrase is used in the generation of the private keys in your wallet, and potentially (if it is BIP39 etc) you can use them in another online wallet (such as Mycelium or Multibit etc) to retrieve your coins.

Yes it is correct, rather than dealing with blockchain.info, if you have the 12 words, try restoring them through electrum wallet.

1.Install electrum from here www.electrum.org
2.When asked to create a new wallet, choose I already have a seed option
3.Enter the 12 words, if they are correct you have all your coins back to you.

I have a bc.i and an electrum desktop 2.8.1. So I would like to ask, if you have test the process from bc.i to electrum creating a standard wallet only with the bc.i mnemonic seed. I have read from bc.i support here that their mnemonic phrase is compatible with wallets using bip44/bip39 and electrum is bip39. But practically speaking does the process work smoothly or do we need to use the bip39 tool following, according a 6 months old article, this procedure? Thank you
192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IN THE KREMLIN MEETING OF PUTIN AND TILLERSON on: April 13, 2017, 04:02:53 PM
Maybe the most important thing as we read from news media is that Dmitry Peskov (Kremlin spokesman) said at the meeting the two sides reached in general agreement on the need to keep open the lines of communication between Moscow and Washington. Till now is very early, imo, to learn more about their conversation.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Is this site legit? on: April 13, 2017, 12:48:24 PM
I have no doubt that the code which produced from this site is something which someone can trust. However, why not use this code only to 'play'? Reading the FAQ and the help section I noticed there are some tutorials in you youtube too. Therefore, you can use it only for learning processes. But surely is not something you could use it as altcoin unless you would like to create a shitcoin.
194  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A $ a post or a $ a day? on: April 13, 2017, 10:39:28 AM
A lot of us are making nearly a dollar a post from our activity here and being involved in a signature campaign.

There are so many people living on just a dollar a day. If only those people could a participate here they could find a way out of poverty...or at least another source of income to buy food for their family.

What do you all think about that? We're all rich here...all of us.

A documentary to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtL_nsWCo7s

Watch it, then give.

I would like to know in what way did you say that someone is rich or not. This comparison is very subjective and say that I am rich because I live in Europe with someone who is living in a poor country of Asia or Africa continent. On the other side I am very poor compared say with Bill Gates and so on. So I strongly disagree with your thought
195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are the U.S. and Russia / Eastern Europe still enemies? on: April 13, 2017, 10:29:07 AM
In the 1960s there were two superpowers. One superpower had ensured the possibility of eliminating the other and vice versa. This nuclear "balance of terror" that humanity has experienced so strongly with the missile crisis in Cuba 1962, was created a situation which was called MAD, or Mutually Assured Destruction. Nowadays, USA and Russia ensure a different way with a kind of balance of terror in Syria. Under this light is difficult someone to believe that both of them are friends. Is not that right?
196  Economy / Speculation / Re: "The price of your bitcoin is 1000 times overvalued" on: April 12, 2017, 09:24:48 PM
how much does a bitcoin worth?
Some say:“Worthless. It’s just a Ponzi scheme.”

A ha; I would like to read this. Would be funny after 8 years someone to give adequate reasons why he believes something like that

Quote
Some hail:“Priceless! It’s the future of money.”

Why not. Yesterday, I read this that in Japan after the recent legislation about 260,000 stores will accept bitcoin as payment this summer.

Quote

A Chinese economist Ou Chengxiao,  often nicknamed”Ou Guru” said yesterday "The price of bitcoin is 1000 times overvalued". He believed that the value of currency is decided by its scale of circulation, or adoption. But now the lack of businesses that accept the digital currency as payment has been holding bitcoin back from wider adoption. not so many people are buying things with btc.
i am a little confused why he is so sure bitcoin price is 1000 times overvalued. why not 100? 10? why exactly 1000? Do you agree with him?

I found the english translation from this post here I don't know the famous 'guru' economist but if someone wants to search for him in english google the first result is only this thread. Therefore, I am pretty confident that he is not so famous as OP stated and I believe that is only a charlatan who tries to create reputation about his name. Moreover I would like to point out OP that according this article the author(Ou Chengxiao) in chinese language is not an economist but an investor in real estate.
197  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bombs in Germany before Champions League match on: April 12, 2017, 08:44:20 PM
It seems to me that the attack was not aimed at the victim, but as a deterrence. Maybe the Islamic terrorists are changing tactics? Anyway, it's good that this time there were no victims.

I don't think so. An important consideration in the case after the first information indicates that the explosive device was professional and aimed to spread death! The report said that at the point of the explosion there were three or four bombs inside a bag, of which one did not explode. According the news media reports the triple glazing coach played a decisive role in order to not mourn victims.
198  Economy / Economics / Re: The Real Reason to Hold Gold And Bitcoin on: April 12, 2017, 01:34:50 PM
Gold is a precious scarce medal and bitcoin is a valuable because is the digital scarce one, if we compare both of them as commodities. But these assets has a fundamental difference each other. That is, bitcoin till now is volatile. Moreover we know for investments and especially if we care to invest for long time investor is better to diversify his portfolio so as to mitigate the risks. This is a good reason for someone to keep his wealth to gold and bitcoin at the same time.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan's Electronic Giant Bic Camera officially started accepting Bitcoin on: April 12, 2017, 01:24:34 PM
Japan is a country that is a pioneer in technology and innovation. Therefore, I believe that the Japanese and especially the young ones, will embrace the possibility of payment by bitcoin. The most important thing in the future the Japanese tourists going abroad will require from stores to pay with bitcoin. That means at first the big stores as well as the stores for tourists will be bitcoin friendly in order not only to maintain but to increase their sales.
200  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price is recovering! on: April 12, 2017, 06:40:24 AM
One thing I know that Bitcoin always comes back strongly anytime there's media propaganda against it and this is no different at all, a lot of the tv critics are eating a humble pie and I hope they remain shut . Bitcoin will always recover from th negative news and we are headed to the moon.
I sometimes think about news usually hating on Bitcoin because someone said something or the price went down $0.70 cents, I have a feeling that these people that are making the news articles are just trying to post FUD so they could purchase more coins on the low. Bitcoin isn't something that I would consider a MLM scheme so these people know that it's legit so I can't understand why they are hating on it so much.

There are not only people who speculated in order to buy cheap coins but there are people who speaks everyday about a possible hardfork. The way I see it the latter are the most harmful in bitcoin's price. It is very difficult to gain the people's trust and very easy to lose it in a short period of time.
