641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become centralized sometime in the future? on: January 06, 2017, 11:30:39 PM
Price, popularity and future of any Cryptocurrency depends mainly on some whales, and miners. But BTC is not a small currency. BTC will not rely on a certain class of people, anymore. It is already a huge, popular currency. From beginning, the whole block chain tech is a decentralized tech. Each and every BTC user is controlling BTC. In my opinion BTC will never be considered as a currency/asset controlled by any centralized authority

I know it's decentralized, nobody controls it, etc... But sometimes I think this is just an illusion, the true is that the whales control Bitcoin, those who controls big amounts change the course of the currency and the little fishes just can choose the right side to make the profit with the whales.

So I think Bitcoin is "indirectly centralized".

I believe that your opinion is related to the fluctuation of the price of bitcoin. But if we continue to see it only as commodity and not as payment system then we will  always speak only about the price. I live in a European country. Last months the exchange rate of euro had gone down more than 35% compared with USD. Except the brokers a few people have concerned about it.

643  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Are Online Wallets safe ? on: January 06, 2017, 11:59:57 AM
Coinbase don't even give you control on your private keys so Its a service to avoid unless you are trading bitcoins then you should withdraw instantly just after buying or selling.
Blockchain.info no longer gives control over your private keys , at least not a newbie friendly way and It got removed from bitcoin.org for some security requirements that they didn't meet. I would use btc.com which is acquired by bitmain or stick to desktop wallets such as Multibit or Electrum.

What security requirements did blockchain.info miss? I still use them and have been using them for a very long time. My personal experience is overall good with no serious complaints. There were a couple of times when I couldnt connect to the site but it hardly came to anything serious like losing some BTC.

What do you think of greenaddress.it? Are they safe to use? Are the founders trustworthy?

These are the following features blockchain.info missing:

1. You cannot sign a message except if you import a network address. Signing a message is very useful in bitcoin world. Read this from Shorena https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0
2. There is no direct way to export your private keys

Moreover bc.i has hacked in the recent past http://thehackernews.com/2016/10/blockchain-bitcoin-website.html. I don't know anything about greenaddress.it so I am not the right person to answer.

644  Economy / Economics / Re: How a cashless society could kill Bitcoin. on: January 06, 2017, 11:44:21 AM
I’m pretty confident that a cashless society will strengthen bitcoin. Banks they want a cashless world so as to have the absolute control of people's wealth. That means, banks will know every financial movement people they are doing and according their willing will accept or not their customers transactions. So, many people will turn to cryptocurrencies to fulfill their needs. Therefore more and more people will use bitcoins to buy/sell goods and services
645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your reason to gamble? Fun or profit? on: January 05, 2017, 08:52:52 PM
Quite frankly, I am gambling for fun. Of course I want to earn money but mathematics are always go with casino. Imo is utopia someone to live from gambling even though is sports gambling. On the other side Ι always like to play poker but I don't know if rest players are people or bots.
646  Economy / Speculation / Re: Please give me advice, Bitcoin will rise again or go to hell? I'm scared on: January 05, 2017, 08:19:39 PM
I would suggest all to hold your BTC and don't sell it . It won't go below 900 dollars but it will go up again for sure Smiley So be patient and don't sell it off and regret later . Good luck all. Always remember holding BTC is the best investment Smiley
Yes sudden unexpected fluctuations are most common with bitcoin prices, I guess this sudden fall was just due to a dump from bitcoin whale. But this must be another buying opportunity for Chinese investors who will be sleeping right now and will be getting ready for tomorrow's action.

I read that already China has bought 5 million bitcoins in this rally compared to just 50k bitcoins bought in USD. So they will never let their investment go waste, they will keep on pumping for the sake of their earlier investments.

Personally, I speculate bitcoin prices are heading towards $2000. Let us hope, watch and will enjoy if not get panic.

I definitely  disagree with you. Chinese bought last month bitcoins are neither long term investors nor bitcoin enthusiasts. Their purpose is to sent their funds abroad. What was the quickest and cheapest way? Obviously bitcoin. If tomorrow, next week or whenever government of China decide to change financial strategy most of them immediately will they sell their coins and people will sell in panic.
647  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: KeepKey 30 BTC reward for capturing the hacker ! on: January 05, 2017, 04:07:17 PM
Personally speaking  I do not care if the Keepkey's reward is big or not. What concerns me is that a company engaged with HD wallets and must be at the highest level of security could not  prevent their systems to be compromised by hackers attack. Sadly Keepkey lost its reputation. This incident will costs her  much more money than big reward they provide to capture the hacker.
648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How high would Bitcoin price have to be for you to live off Bitcoin? on: January 05, 2017, 03:17:39 PM
Are there people believe that they can live from interest only? Speaking about fiat money big interest means inflation. I think that you can understand. As of passive income yes if passive we mean to have buildings and rent apartments without the need to lift my finger or something similar like to write a book once and after that publishers pay royalties to translate it in different languages and so on.
649  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: January 05, 2017, 02:55:27 PM
Dream of getting rich with bitcoins has started coming true as the bitcoin price is steadily increasing. I invested in bitcoin when its price was $750 and now within two months span, its price is $1090. Its price is expected to go much high. My investment is little, but investors with huge investments would have gained more profits.

Right now the bitcoin price is crashing and if you have not taken the profit of your purchase then i think you are going to crush yourself, so better check the price because i think the price will come down till $700, if you are a long term investor then forget this price movement.

It is hard to say where exactly bitcoin\s price will find support. Whether it will touch $700 or not is something we will have to see for our-self. But it is best to add slowly and hold for long term. Traders will need to keep a close watch on the technical tools. Hope everyone mints money!

I strongly agree with anonbit992 that is very hard for bitcoin to find support. Fiat money when go dip there are corresponding governments and banks to support it but for a crypto coin things are very different. Therefore if people trade with bitcoins have to be very careful and may be long term investor is the best strategy for them who don't bear thrills of risk

651  Economy / Speculation / Re: HUGE Drop coming! on: January 05, 2017, 01:47:40 PM
Drop in Peoples' JAWS... cuz this train is going to the MOON!

I agree with OP but I can't determine the limit of  'huge'.I believe that a major correction is coming. Does anyone believes no dreams that rally should continue forever? Is that possible for markets?  Remember that China is not the only country in the world. Yesterday bitcoin price at Chinese Bter and OkCoin was $1126 and now is $954 and Coinbase , Bitstamp yesterday was 1082 and now is $934 and continues to go dip. How big is the correction?
652  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tips for local transactions on: January 05, 2017, 12:00:41 PM
I agree with what nanobtc said because I’ve never really thought about this before, but there are some obstacles in reality. Not all of cities have casinos and if they have maybe are located far away from people they want to do a local transaction. As I see it local transaction is a good way for a fraction of bitcoin because bigger one is dangerous.
653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the last 24 hours on: January 05, 2017, 11:46:24 AM

--snip--

It's not all too hard to understand, from my subjective point of view of course. The way I see it is this was a long time coming. Look at the past 2-3 years. Ever since the crash in Dec. 2013, it's been a slow healthy uphill climb, even with a tarnished reputation. Recently the price has surged, but I think that's simply a culmination of the growth that I just described, combined with other world events, the new year, the fact that bitcoin is approaching it's all time high, and it's approaching the gold parity. It all simply makes sense to me which is why I believe the price won't go crashing down like it did last time. What do we all think of this analysis?

The argument that is a  culmination of the growth is not supported by number of people use to buy/sell goods and services with bitcoin. The main driver of this rally last week is capital controls Chinese government imposed to their citizens. That's no way Chinese suddenly found out cryptocurrencies. Simply is the most quick and convenient way to send their funds outside China's borders. My question is: What is going to happen if the Chinese government  decide to change its policy? I believe that most of Chinese will cash out with result a big dip of bitcoin. Imo after a big bump follows a big dump too.
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The year of 2017 would be a golden year of bitcoin and what is your thought? on: January 05, 2017, 08:15:29 AM
It will certainly be a great year for big coin! 4 days already appreciated 20%, lol. Thanks to Chinese who try to smuggle their currency out, now it has a restriction, so bitcoin is the best choice for them to move money around.

Yes, but after a big bump usually follows big dump too. Is there anyone who knows what would be happen if the Chinese government decide to follow another policy. All of these Chinese citizens had purchased bitcoin do they suddenly love bitcoins or they want a way to send their money out of China's borders? what will do ? Are they going to keep them or convert them to fiat? If the latter happens then what would happen with the sales of bitcoin? Has anybody think what means sales in panic?
655  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's Next Direction 2017 Predictions on: January 04, 2017, 10:35:14 PM
We seem to be on the same wavelength except the second correction. All of us know that main driver for rally nowadays is China and when this ends a major correction will be done. But which is the reason for second correction and why the price will go dip. I like the last step but if correction in step 4 comes true I will support the opinion of lionheart78 that end of 2017 will be no more of $1600-1700

657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing of Bitcoins is against Bitcoin. on: January 04, 2017, 04:23:51 PM
That's just what I think about bitcoin. On the other side I cannot blame people that save their coins and use it only for hoarding like as precious metals. These days the price of bitcoin started a new rally to ATH and is logical people don't spend it to buy goods or services. When price will be more stable I believe people to use bitcoin more as payment and less a scarce digital asset.
658  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: January 04, 2017, 02:35:50 PM
The train left and never turning back. There is no way the price to go so deep down. With all of these facts happened worldwide that is the devaluation of yuan in China , the demonetization in India, the hyperinflation in Venezuela and so on I would be very happy to buy if the price goes down to $700.
659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: January 04, 2017, 02:26:51 PM
According the big amount of bitcoins I believe the best solution is opendime bitcoin sticks. The advantage of these sticks is if you want to use the private key is that there is if private key revealed there is no way the opendime to be used again (sent many times, spend only once). After that I could buy not only one but a number of these and I could divide the number of bitcoins for each one of them. At last I would go to the local bank store. I would lend a bank deposit and I would keep all the sticks in this deposit. I believe it's an excellent solution for someone with many bitcoins and is cheap (every pack of 3 devices costs about $40). https://opendime.com/
660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: January 04, 2017, 12:22:28 PM
Without a doubt is better not only from western union but from all these kind of services. As an example if today I want to send $100 from europe to USA with debit/credit card the recipient will take it after 2 business days I will pay $8 fees. A more cheap option is with bank account after 6 business days and $6 fees. The all times cheapest is send him coins in 10 minutes. Maybe these services have to think cooperate with exchanges so the recipient can be paid in fiat money.
