1021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India Bans Its Largest Fiat Currency Notes on: November 16, 2016, 09:23:29 PM
This happens in India a country which in 2022 will have greater population than China (currently has 1.31 billion inhabitants) is an example of the means the financial systems use in order to persuade Indian citizens to create bank accounts. It is characteristic that the notes will stay in circulation (10, 20, 30 Rs) are very low value when the banknotes of  Rs 1000 is only 14.6 US dollars.
1022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really The Future Of Money? on: November 16, 2016, 09:02:18 PM
If we mean the nearby or mid-term future and if we could talk with numbers I believe that after 15-20 years as it increases the number of people who have everyday access to internet as well as the training of the people will be increased to cryptocurrencies not only the btc but also other -coins will get their competitive position as a transaction value between people like as fiat money. I fear only the reaction of the financial institutions will try every way to distract people from the use of any cryptocurrency not only from bitcoins.
1023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin help poor countries? on: November 16, 2016, 07:06:07 PM
Bitcoin is a digital currency. So the poor or average people does not have the possibility to know for the digital era so well, because it requires computer knowledge and internet connection things. These things are minor when you consider that a large percentage of many people in these countries are at risk of poverty and their first concern is the day by day survival.
1024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Would you open a Bitcoin account at your local bank? on: November 16, 2016, 05:59:15 PM
The banking system and the technology behind bitcoins community is the day and the night. In the first case someone gives confidence to the financial system, gives his money to a third  party (bank system). Bank is  aware of what you do, he knows your transactions he can freeze your money if you don't use it like system wants to do. Furthermore, if bank system wants they can 'haircut' your savings. Searching to find the most recent country where banks haircut the citizen savings to save the damaged banks.

On the other side blockchain technology only 9 pages of a paper https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf gives you freedom.

So The poll question could be 'Do you want to put the wolf to guard the sheeps ?'

Of course No
1025  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which wallet to use ? Tired of Blockchain on: November 16, 2016, 05:19:24 PM
I am really tired of Blockchain, it adjust the bad fees and transactions get late. I want to hold more control over my transactions and understand bitcoins.

Can someone please suggest me a new wallet to use on PC ? How's Bitcoin Core , Bitcoin-QT and more ?

Do tell

If you have not yet decide and you want a PC wallet my favorite one, as it was proposed from many others above,  is Electrum. There is portable edition and has support with cold storage and with Trezor HD wallet assuming that the user has Electrum 2.0+. I believe that is more friendly than Multibit especially if you want to import coins from paper wallet.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin woke up the Giants on: November 16, 2016, 04:35:00 PM
every big bank in the world announced their blockchain based projects
I'm sure you will be able to find it on the web with ease, literally all of them introduced the so called "ransom stash"
where they keep a certain amount of coins to satisfy a hacker's demand after he had breached their security or found vulnerabilities
the giants are giants for a reason - they monitor the market constantly and they react to the changes, thats why they have special divisions besides marketing and god knows what
blockchain based currencies by the banks are in direct confrontation with bitcoins and my fear is and has always been that one of the giants
would be able to produce a better, more resilient to attacks, easier to use digital currency than bitcoin is
this would result in further monopolisation and centralisation of the money system of the world

According to Business Insider  http://uk.businessinsider.com/swedish-central-bank-considers-digital-national-currency-ekrona-2016-11 'Sweden could become the first major country to issue a national digital currency' author says that central bank of Sweden aims to decide whether to issue a digital currency called 'ekrona'  two years from now. Deputy Governor of Sweden said FT, that blockchain technogy is one of several technologies they look at in relation with their digital coin.
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people use/hold bitcoin in 2016 on: November 16, 2016, 03:58:33 PM
It is not easy to calculate. A good article (Feb 2014) http://bitscan.com/bitnews/item/how-many-people-really-own-bitcoins-and-why-does-it-matter considered that there were 500,000 users and foresaw a growth rate of 100-fold in the medium term future. Home screen of blockchain wallet https://blockchain.info/wallet/#/ claims that has 8+ million wallets but how many of them are active assuming that many bitcoin users open a wallet (especially web wallet) only to test it?
1028  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is unpredictable job. on: November 16, 2016, 03:20:31 PM
It is risky. Those who have dealt with purchase and sale of banknotes understand that temper is needed, insight and certainly very good information. If you are considering trading between digital / fiat money there will have to bear in mind the great volatility of digital money that exists. Even more difficult is trading between btcs eths and so on. But without risk of loss there is not gain.
1029  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: November 16, 2016, 02:51:40 PM
Does anyone believes to open a savings account in a bank where they will pay him an interest on his savings is a good and secured investment? Say that the bank can pay him an interest rate eg 5% a year on his money, if inflation is around 7%, his investment loses 2% per year. Saving and investing are often used interchangeably, but they are completely different.

In my opinion not all eggs in one basket. A good strategy would be: 50% of our capital to savings, 30% -35% in low risk investment and 15% in high-risk investments

But this not the point. The crucial question is the investor decision about the risk he wish to take and what he considers as a savings and what as investment. Savings in bank notes? Definitely yes if you live in an advanced country with a strong economy. If you live in a small country where the currency is inflationary then gold is a secure investment. Cryptocurrencies like as bitcoin I believe is a good investment but it depends on the price that someone bought it unless he was smart to buy or mine years ago and prudent to hold it and not trade it with paper money. Long-term investments such as market shares of large multinationals and land market. Short-term market as medium and high risk shares. So I would like to ask; What kind of investment is trading between cryptocurrencies?
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What wallets do you use and why? on: November 16, 2016, 08:41:34 AM
I use blockchain wallet but last version has many limitations than older ones. That is, it is not possible to sign a message only if you import an address (as it says) and you cannot export private keys. On the other side using pairing android app is very handy. But I believe that someone must have and a PC wallet in order to have more control of his funds. I use an electrum wallet for my savings because uses SPV technique so there is no need to download the entire blockchain. Furthermore supports cold storage.
1031  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Which country is legal for gambling on: November 16, 2016, 07:30:22 AM
As I know there aren't many countries were gambling is legal. A colleague told me that Australia laws permit online gambling. I cannot confirm that and as all of us know what is permitted today is prohibited tomorrow. Furthermore there are countries with more lenient laws in sport betting if the owners of these sites pay taxes in these countries.
1032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I use my small amount for GAMBLING? on: November 16, 2016, 05:51:33 AM
In my opinion gambling is only for your pleasure and even instant satisfaction you feel winning some amount. Over the time the player will always be the looser. The greater evil with gambling however is that it is highly addictive and may lead to a loss of largest amount this considered to lose when starting to play.
1033  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: [GUIDE] How to Sign/Verify message in NEW Blockchain Wallet on: November 15, 2016, 06:52:23 PM
Well yeah, I've just checked out the new blockchain.info (made a new account). Spent a good deal of time figuring things out.

The guide doesn't work. (at least for me)It's probably for old versions or for imported addresses.

The only way one can verify/sign is by importing addresses. (Haven't really tried importing one to confirm, but it's what I've concluded going around their faq/help/etc.)
The new addresses generated by this latest version of blockchain.info cannot be verified/signed. It's still unsupported. No idea why. Or if this will change.
I do have the same problem as you and i believe the new adress hasnt yet the option to sign messages it has been reported sometime ago about those, we can edit name and show xpub and just from new adress, the funny thing is they charge for we transfer bitcoins over accounts, and now there is a message:
Imported Addresses  Not backed up by your Recovery Phrase. Transfer into a wallet to secure funds.
Transfer All

Meaning they wanna get more funds while we do use our old adress, i do hope they allow us to sign messages from new adress and stop being greedy to the point to charge us to transfer funds between adress since has no costs for them.

I have same wallet version. So I imported one of my used address (that is from same wallet id) only to see if I could sign it. But  there is not this option. Click to more options  right from imported address and only options are: archive, transfer, spend. Moreover, they claim in their support that I can sign an imported address /hc/en-us/articles/210353833-What-is-message-signing-and-how-can-I-do-that-]https://support.[Suspicious link removed]/hc/en-us/articles/210353833-What-is-message-signing-and-how-can-I-do-that- this is not working. Looking forward to see what happens in newer versions.

Look the imported adress if belongs to the last version of blockchain.info you will be able to sign a message, just the new adress of the new wallet arent able to sign a message at the moment. Im able to sign any message from old adress, just follow the steps if its an old adress if its a new adress you wont be able to sign messages.

How can I look something like that? That is, which address belongs to which version of blockchain wallet? Where somebody can see the version of his web wallet?. Furthermore I believe that there is no sense to import an address from a wallet id to another address of this wallet. I believe that this (hopefully) working if I import an address from another wallet. I did this only as experiment and I think that blockchain wallet had to warn me that I transfer funds between addresses in the same wallet. Instead of this, asks money for the miners giving option to transfer or spend that money or to archive the address. This make sense knowing that if I want to transfer money between addresses   need to pay fees to miners. Truth is, that I take money from one pocket of my pants to put it another. May be in this case is better (calculating miner fees) to transfer all of my funds to a new wallet only in one address.

These companies will not be allowed to operate, if they do not adhere to these KYC/AML regulations. It makes all of us crazy, but we need to

bend over to these companies to use Bitcoin legally. The day when someone figures out how to start a decentralized exchange, I will send

them a picture of my genitals and cancel all my accounts.  Angry

I agree with you. If we were in twitter I would retweet it

1038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin being used for illegal activities on: November 14, 2016, 10:14:44 PM
I believe that paper money is easier to use for illegal activities especially if these are local activities. On the other side if these activities are far away each other crypto coins is a solution. But I believe that this is not the Bitcoin for a simple reason. Bitcoin was "designed" as decentralized monetary system not a coin for users who wish to remain anonymous. There are other crypto coins which serve this purpose such as monero and as we know illegal activities does not need publicity.
