381  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why having access to many top crypto trader signals / info / TA is good! on: February 12, 2024, 08:35:30 AM
I haven’t met anyone who made any decent profit long term from any trading group. I am not talking about being profitable for 6 months. Try and be profitable thru a bear market and sideways market, most of those groups arent.

You can easily make money in a bull market. You can buy pretty much anything and you make a profit. This doesn’t take a genius. What is difficult is surviving the bear markets or worse, when markets are just trading sideways. See how those groups perform then.

I personally paid and lost money from trading groups in the longterm. You learn a lot during that experience. It's double trouble too not worth it, lose in trading and lose in subscription. Not to mention lose in time...

You're absolutely right about this bull phenomena.

First, you hear about trading groups, see their profits and even follow it by profiting during a bull run or shortly before. So you are starting to think you hit gold and found a great trading group, not realizing that everyone makes it big in a bull run.

I knew this during forex even but I thought crypto was a bit different. Naw it's not Wink

Secondly, you see the groups close and reopen somewhere else. And quiet down and tell everyone they are now waiting and being cautious. Scammers are rinse and repeat.
382  Economy / Reputation / Re: The SportsBet.io Gang on: February 11, 2024, 03:10:31 PM
I'm coming very late to this topic by chance, hardly check reputation section but I saw Sportsbet.io mentioned.

And I kinda expected to see one username mentioned, because jeremypwr manages a lot of giveaways but I seriously doubt he's an actual employee, and it never crossed my mind to see such an accusation when clearly, in many other megathreads merits are just dumped all on daily basis, why is that a problem? I can give it to whoever I want, if I think it deserves my merit. I'm sure these users do the same.

Personally, I know LFC_Bitcoin and buwaytress also for years, if they are Sportsbet employees I will eat my BTC wallet seriously. These guys are the most helpful people, years ago I personally got help for nothing from them, education, yes even merits to help my account grow. I know for sure they still run competitions and community events for not getting paid, buwaytress also a very outspoken member of all services here. I've 100% seen him criticize Sportsbet.io and in fact for years you can even see he runs pools for RIVALS of Sportsbet.io

Why would an employee do that??

To my best knowledge they're not even getting a cent paid for their work on this forum. People should be grateful there are people like these spending their time for free to make the forum a better place. Instead, they get accused on threads like this.

We need to recognize contributions but people seem to spend more time looking to take people down. Crazy.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 11, 2024, 12:19:03 PM
For sure, for anyone who has BTC accumulation goals, when in doubt DCA, it is likely superior to both lump sum and buying on dip for the vast majority of folks, especially in their earlier stages of building their BTC holdings, especially since an overwhelming number of normies do not even have any kind of realistic option of lump sum (without devolving into gambling) and if they do have some lump sum available, it may well even be better to figure out some kind of a DCA way to strategize their lump sum that would not just be putting it all in at once which might convert them into a waiting strategy, especially if they over do their lump sum from the beginning.. ..

And, any how, DCA can become even more powerful when supplemented with lump sum and buying on dips, yet we would still have to presume some abilities to incorporate those lump sum and buying on dips, which tends to be some kind of lump sum being available or perhaps some sufficient level of already having had bought BTC in order to justify already largely being prepared for UP... so the punchline, when in doubt DCA, structure your DCA to a reasonable level of your disposable income (and maybe you have to adjust up and down on a weekly basis depending on cashflow variations), and don't be waiting around, especially when it comes to BTC and making sure (at all times) that you are sufficiently/adequately prepared for UP... even if the BTC price is dipping and continuing to dip, make sure to continue to prepare for UP.. which DCA does seem to help in accomplishing such.

It's really great to see such words from someone who's even older than me in this forum. As I said before, I only give one advice to newbies, as I consider it the only foolproof way to ensure you gain something.

I keep saying that majority of us here don't have the knowledge, intelligence. Or access or wealth. To do anything really special or smart with our money. That's where DCA allows us to take advantage of Bitcoin while not sacrificing all the time and risk that others like traders/speculators do.

DCA takes away all that thinking and analyzing, and, as you say, allows everyone to come back at a time when they are capable of all that risk analysis etc.

It's just, a no lose way to make sure you don't lose time on getting in on BTC and don't lose time analysing and trying to jump ahead of market.
384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: February 11, 2024, 10:58:14 AM
Only a few of us predicted draws, which makes sense because 3rd placed matches usually are all about goals but we all got tricked by both sides blehs

So the top spots seemed not to move at all, all of you mostly picked wins for either team. I really needed the draw to happen to have a hope of 5th place but 1.5 points doesn't look like it's gonna be enough. Abii instead did very well and won a prize I believe as the gap to 4th is too big. Who's Abii here?
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: February 11, 2024, 10:24:51 AM
1 more point advantage and I think if Nigeria win tonight in AFCON then I should be safe from losing. Don't know if gonna be too late, but we should find out.

But you know, winning prize of division 2 is also pretty cool, but it looks stronger and stronger every season to be sure...

Well the prizes is not as much as division 1 but hey we get to play for free on division 2 so no biggie on this and of course division 2 is literally just a stepping stone to get into division 1. Aside from the fact that some of the division 2 players would forgot to send in their answers, gotta agree that division 2 however is as tough as division 1 overall

We gonna have signup payments for Division 2  and good payout rates too to make it more attractive and competitive from next season and few changes to Division 3

I'm all big one either direction. Like aralllmuus says, current one means free so whatever you win in top spots is all yours. I love it. Now I'll relegate, for sure I win back my fee from the freebet but it's kinda not guaranteed to win the freebet (need 2x min), but all good.

Fees for division 2 + higher payout even better.
386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆Rollbit.com | Champions League Pool | $11,000+ in Prizes ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: February 10, 2024, 01:38:47 PM
Wow man I almost forgot about Champions League can't believe it's more than 2 months.

My adventure with Pot B is not so great, started well with Galatasaray but never had a chance once Barca lost, as I never bet or even predict against them. I can foresee many people will go for Real Madrid upset as that gives the biggest points gain but guys you know that's just a waste of points right? Worst result here is a draw Wink
387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: February 10, 2024, 01:12:08 PM
So no extra prize money for 3rd place, I didn't realize this. In this case there absolutely is no gain or no loss from risk. I'm beginning to think 3-2 is now the best answer in this coming game, but I'm sticking with my weird draw result. Not so much because I think both sides will be too careful but because in their risk free attitude you also need good finishers.

I locked my pick anyway and checked the results others put in, only 1 person predicted 3-2 Wink
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 10, 2024, 11:54:10 AM
There are a lot of creative ways to calculate how much cash you have available now and account for your cashflow and also account for being prepared in case the BTC price goes down instead of up.. but sometimes people are so determined that the price is ulitmately gong up that they do not mind just front loading all of it and not preparing for down or sideways and their cashflow does not matter as much as it does to people who might rely more on cashflows rathe than money that they can move around from other investments.

And that to me is the brilliance of DCA which I will always recommend, in fact, the only thing I advice. Whatever the situation, whatever the financial cashflow available and whatever the risk appetite, DCA always wins you some gains even as short as 2 to 3 years (the entire bear window in a cycle).

It even gives confidence and experience to those who can't afford strategy or don't have wisdom. It's like a surefire way, I wish I did it much earlier.
389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: February 10, 2024, 09:34:07 AM
I am not sure yet, odds are tempting and Girona not to lose, and Real needs to think about next week match against Leipzig in Champions League.
Girona is slowly going down in form and they are going to miss few players for this match, but I think they can score against Real.
Maybe best bet for me is over 2.5 goals and both teams to score.

Man that's too tempting to see I agree. I know Real already beat them earlier, and Girona have been drawing a lot but Real also have been facing problems so it's not a given. I have no idea why odds are so big though so I took it myself, only one bet today I don't even want to look at Barca for fear I make them my superjinx of the weekend.

390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: February 09, 2024, 01:14:50 PM
I think we all should calm down and not lose our heads over this just yet, I've got a good run of form down the stretch, Yes! but the round is still very a close one and it all still could change, In my opinion I believe it will all come down to what happens in the Superbowl or Milan vs Napoli, you already have the biggest edge in the AFCON question which likely will get us even, I took a gamble with DR Congo, and unless they can get a win against South Africa which could have the question end as a draw for us, we're pretty much even now, I'd say.

No no we should all lose our heads and go for total chaos so I have a chance lol

They say some teams perform at their best in the final hours, and this was the case for me last season, to promote back, I did fail in season 1 to avoid relegation, so I took a lot of care this time to tell my team not to feel any pressure, and hope pressure goes for our opponents.

But you know, winning prize of division 2 is also pretty cool, but it looks stronger and stronger every season to be sure...

I see I have slight advantage over my opponent in AFCON, but if Nigeria and DR Congo lose, it's a draw anyway, what a weird outcome that would have tho!!
391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: February 09, 2024, 10:43:14 AM
I guess he played. Watched the highlights and saw just one strike from him near the end I think it was from very far beyond penalty box, keeper saved, fumbled but nobody was close enough to take it on, but comfortable in the end.
He also won the penalty and was a workaholic upfront, putting pressure on the defenders when they held possession.

I think his number of goals does not describe his performance throughout the tournament. He has been one of Nigeria's best players so far. I am really looking forward to what club he plays for at the end of the seson.

- Jay -

He has been Nigeria's best player even before the competition starts, a few games doesn't change the talent, only the physical form and condition Smiley I'm still hoping to see him stay in Napoli one more season, but I have a strong feeling in July he moves across to England, we'll see of course, but winning AFCON will definitely put his price tag up even higher Wink
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 09, 2024, 10:18:52 AM
You have provided concise explanations of the advantages and disadvantages of lump-sum investment vs DCA. While lump-sum investment can be dangerous in unfavorable market situations, it can also result in large profits in favorable circumstances. By spreading out your investments across time with DCA, you lower your chance of losing money in the event of a market collapse. However, if the market takes off, you might pass on the chance to make a significant profit

When determining which strategy is ideal for you, I believe it's critical to take your long-term objectives and risk tolerance into account. It's also important to remember that DCA may be more practical for people who lack a sizable sum of money to invest all at once.

I'd argue that DCA is the most practical way to invest for any kind of sum of money -- even if you're doing lumpsum now/today, you'll want to invest more in the future (who doesn't?). I don't think there's any case of any guy who says I'll invest $1 million in this asset today, we're done.

They're going to see it in a few years and grow it even more. Another lumpsum? Sure, then it essentially becomes DCA over time Smiley

Kinda weird you're only getting to know your Sheriff is a Nigerian by birth and blood. AFCON is coming home.

I noticed some of the references but I didn't always could tell. Darxiaomi for example, I always thought he was even maybe Asian from the name, turns out Argentinian. And we had some others who speak and live of Europe football or American sports, turns out they're not even from there. Kinda weird for me indeed, but now I know for sure. You guys better bring it home, I'm counting on it!!

Precisely, they better win 1:0 lol

If Nigeria put Osimhen on bench, we know they will play for draw, win with him in ET.

I don't know how if serious the knock is but id Osimhem doesn't play then it's all the manager's fault, he got a knock, came for treatment and he still push him back to the game, we were already winning and Osimhem should have been changed early to avoid all this from happening

I guess he played. Watched the highlights and saw just one strike from him near the end I think it was from very far beyond penalty box, keeper saved, fumbled but nobody was close enough to take it on, but comfortable in the end.

Guess you guys are now prime candidates, good luck Smiley Saw your post in ANN thread that must be a popping event Wink
395  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF on: February 08, 2024, 12:43:12 PM
While I agree to some degree with you, I have to say that bitcoin is way more complicated than people think. Yes if you want to invest a large quantity in bitcoin you can afford to buy a hardware wallet and read into it a lot. But if you just want to invest up to 500 USD it is probably not really worth your time to not just buy the ETF.
A guy with only 500 to invest won't start with a hardware wallet. Just a simple digital wallet, careful security, even paper wallet is better. Cheaper.

Guy with $500 doesn't want to lose 1% fees annual to ETF and KYC etc.

I know cause I had $500 and I bought BTC, not a future or ETF lol.

True, and maybe if we can add though, speculators are not a long term holder, at least that's what I understand them because they will take any chance to sell just to make profits. And maybe those who are ETF buyers are not technically incline, doesn't knows the difference between online wallet or what is Electrum vs Trezor and Ledger. So they will have their own definition of long term or speculators. But for us, as you have describe, $500 and that's it, good start and then we learn the intricacies of Bitcoin and security and privacy and think that it's not that complicated at all.
[/quote]

It's something I say many times. People mistake speculator for investor. Speculators simply aren't interested in long term benefits, they only want to make money. So ETF suits speculators. And they didn't need to wait for ETFs. Futures and derivatives are way more than enough, even cheaper and possible with leverage. ETF worked for gold because there wasn't really much you could access but Bitcoin derivatives loads existed before ETFs.

So forget the $500 guys like us waiting excitedly for ETFs it never happens Smiley

It's been a rather long time since I could smash a winning ticket from freebets but proud to get this one correct Smiley

It kinda makes up for losses on other favorites like South Korea, and actually it's not unusual for host country to go far but usually not to defend the title in the final! Unfortunately Jordan I never saw this performance, but they are anyway quite strong too for sure more than all group stage 3/4 place lol

Our Legend Kanu Nwankwo is bringing Sportsbet punter party to my neighborhood., not sure I'm gonna make it there but if I do I'm gonna show some dope pictures with bear at my right hand and Kanu at my left  Grin

Wow I didn't know you are in Nigeria, so great to see many familiar faces all over the world you gonna look so good in that one man! Kanu must be cheering the final at AFCON too, you guys are so lucky to have one foot in the door for the cup, GL to you man.

So I don't really get this. Maybe, I would now recommend to rule out any possible questions that settle within 5 hours of deadline. If truely we care about people with timezone difference, this is the most fair.

Not really applicable - it is quite hard to put questions on Sunday for Tuesday. If we were to have another 5h buffer, we wouldn't be able to have a lot of questions (example Tuesday's Champions League).

The solution is simple - in the future we will just explain in advance in which situations the questions are void and in which they will be graded.

I understand a lot of you are upset, but you are kinda looking at it from a skewed perspective. A lot of people used VAR anyway, so the 'point advantage' you see when you look at the spreadsheet now would probably not be there anyway.

Bottom line - stuff like this only makes us better, so we'll find a way for things to work and be even more transparent without ruining the experience. Trust in the process Grin

Did you use VAR @leea-1334? Cause I noticed you had South Korea for goals Smiley

I meant 5 hour buffer before deadline. So no games that are settled from 1pm to 6pm deadline. This is for timezone purpose 8pm to 1am. After daylight savings comes this becomes even worse 9pm to 2am for those in Asia timezone. Then nobody in this timezone has to wait past midnight just to avoid the "disadvantage". I mean, since it was partially bringing up timezone issues for fairness, isn't this more "fair"?

Champions League or most Europe sports Tuesday is all from 6pm onwards anyway IIRC, so those questions are not affected right?

I know you guys have a hard hard time about making things fair for everyone and I accept is as I said before and trust the process we all trust you guys work hard Smiley But anyway, moot point and just saying its my opinion to consider. People like Chi20 and me still will stay up late for these kinds of questions so BSFL has our dedication, but just ranting Smiley We stay up and use VAR, because we suffer if we don't in the past, so it's not nice feeling to go through that trouble, and then it wasn't even needed.

Lol I know I'm being like Mourinho because I'm scratching for all points to not get relegated so forgive me Smiley

No complaints, lesson to be learnt as usual, you always go big and then it bites you back, but I have a lot of hope for the GTs, 3k+ tickets and counting, it's never been this high before and just 60+ days to go Smiley
Cheering for him indeed mate. I just for once envy his hope and determination not to back down yet and for what is worth it he's wagering within his affordable means even as he keeps trying his luck and that's why he finds the ups and down of it all as lesson learnt unlike some gamblers who will want to go out of their way in greed wagering an amount they can't afford to lose.

Sending some good luck!

No need to envy hope and determination, it's easy to do it yourself. Set a target, be comfortable losing whatever amount you deposit, be patient, and just wager hoping it works out.

I had a long good luck streak and finally a bad one now in 2024.

But I was always prepared for it.

People must just see simple probability and be patient to make big wagers with small bankroll. It's very possible in long term Smiley

~snip
They have a good chance on EPL yeah but on UCL thats a different case. Real Madrid is probably the biggest favourite to win the UCL though and lets not forget that Bayern Munich could even make it to the top as well

agree here, or at least wish to agree
City had it hard way to win first UCL, but now that first one is out of the way, they will have it easier to get into final rounds and win UCL
not saying that it will happen this season (or at least I wouldn't like it to happen), but they are probably bigger favorite to do so compared to Real and Bayern
maybe Arsenal can do something on that matter, but they also have that "first" trophy problem, so City going till end seems inevitable

Yes to this. Winning the first time was the hardest block. PSG know this as well. But winning gives the right confidence and the right mentality, now they know how it feels, it's easier to win.

See Liverpool too under Klopp from 10 years not in Champions League to 3 finals in few years. They "remembered" how to get there because of 2005. They know it was possible even with a weak team, so they did it so many times.

City is the favorite, this has been the case for past 6 years. Even in era of Real winning it they were never even top 3 favorite! Now City they won it, the odds are finally correct.
400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: February 07, 2024, 10:10:49 AM
Here in Afcon we have some blows, but not so big like the ones in Asia, but are we gonna see a unprecent final like South Africa-Congo?

As I said above before, this is the one I would really like to see! I have no feelings towards any of the remaining teams, so of course as a neutral, I want the most exciting. I feel like though if the final really becomes Congo-South Africa, it might be the most boring one, as both teams will want to win it too badly, or am I wrong?

Nigeria would be reserving everything for final so maybe they play boring semi, but in the final for sure they want to win it before Extra Time.

I gave same predictions to both semis. I hope no penalties as I hate picking draws!!
