701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity on: January 31, 2018, 09:52:14 PM
One of the "pros" of Bitcoin or crypto-currency in general is you can be involved (trade, buy and such) in it ANONYMOUSLY. But in the past few months, looks like that's not the case.

Some Exchanges are now requires you to fill-up forms about your identity and even requires you to upload photos of your identification. Other ICOs have KYI (know-your-identity) requirements too.

Is this a good thing or not? You thoughts?
Thats called KYC (Know your customer).
That's not Bitcoin or cryptocurrency fault, it's the exchanges being under the pressure of governments and laws that makes them forced to have a list of users using their exchange as they fear money laundering or/and illegal traffic such weapons and drugs.Keep in mind that exchanges aren't decentralised, they are centralised which cannot provide anonymity
702  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Legolas Exchange Scam on: January 30, 2018, 11:44:17 PM
Hello,
Legolas exchange ICO with a signature campaign of almost 200 participants has failed to pay after the first week, They also paid short for the first week, They have only paid a few people after the first week to be seen as though they were paying. They have claims such as having 40,000 registration for their ICO but they haven't paid their advertisers and have a thread with only 6 pages.

The amount is between $6000 and $8000.

I have their signature on my profile with their avatar for more than 3 weeks now, there is an indifferent person managing the campaign, I know they have their own way of dodging the bullet, Link to some evidence. Link to their signature campaign.

I know that it was a no escrow campaign, I joined knowing the risk, I'm just making sure to warn people of what kind of people they are.
I don't think it's a scam,I got paid for both week 1 and week 2.
And as @pawel7777 said there is alot of confusion especially with starting day and ending. Also there was a bit of delay in payment but I guess that's because Legolas team is busy with other things, otherwise Wapinter is doing his job correctly.
703  Economy / Reputation / Re: Be careful of DigitalKeys!!!! on: January 30, 2018, 11:39:56 PM
I don't know if I will put this on scam or reputation so I put it on both

I've filled up a form they offered in the service section and wondered what it is
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2851361.0

After a while, they sent an e-mail
They are asking for a review in their thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2846515.msg29198462#msg29198462

I think this will create a fake information.Participants haven't tried it for sure but because of the money offered they will create a fake one.
I'm just a newbie but I think this is not right
Yes beware from his services too.
I claimed a vouch copy of his VPS and he is claiming it's a full access one while it's not.You can't even install google chrome or firefox on it.You basically can't install anything on it and 90% of websites are blocked by policy.
I just wanted to post my review on his thread but it seems it's missing,he maybe deleted it or a mod deleted it.

Anyway stay away from him.

EDIT:He is also making multi threads of his service,A DT member please tag him before he scams someone
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to sell a Titan Bitcoin on: January 30, 2018, 10:26:23 PM
Im a huge fan of this forum and have learned a great deal about bitcoins over the last month by reading the posts.  Thanks to all the contributors!

I found this forum since I have a Titan bitcoin in 2013 from titanbtc.com but couldnt get any help from the website when trying to redeem my coin and place on a bitcoin exchange for sale.  I note that some of the posts about Titans refer users to other message boards but cant find a complete and total answer to my questions.

I have the physical coin and would like to sell.  It is my understanding there is a bitcoin attached to the coin.  The QR code on the back has a 8 alphanumeric code to verify the value.  I think there is a 30 character code underneath but fear to not damage the coins inherent uniqueness.

Accordingly, my questions in no particular order:

1. Is there a way to sell the coin safely (for buyer and seller, I could be a scammer) via a forum or bitcoin wallet?
2. Is there a way to separate bitcoin from physical coin and sell on an exchange?  If so, how do I do that?
3. What/where is best bitcoin wallet to use?
4. How do I add bitcoin address to my wallet address?

Thanks in advance for any help.  I readily admit, I know very little about bitcoin.  This was a gift for my father a couple years ago and he has asked me to sell the coin for him.  I am willing to pay someone to assist me in the above.

Thanks,
Vandyland
You can redeem your coin by pelling off your collectible and following the instructions here:
https://www.titanbtc.com/redeem/

Or you can sell the entire coin ( which will get you more money because the coin is made of gold)
Check this section of bitcointalk where coins and collectible are bought/sold
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0
By the way you have a nice smexy coin I'm almost jealous Smiley
Good luck!
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They are Banning crypto every where - now facebook on: January 30, 2018, 10:17:06 PM
Facebook has a new advertising policy pertaining to cryptocurrency, binary options and initial coin offerings. The policy specifically prohibits ads that promote those types of products and services “that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive practices,” Facebook Product Management Director Rob Leathern wrote in a blog post today.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum, and initial coin offerings have all hit the mainstream, which has promptly resulted in a number of scams. While Facebook says it wants people “to continue to discover and learn” about those products and services, “there are many companies who are advertising binary options, ICOs and cryptocurrencies that are not currently operating in good faith,” Leathern wrote.

https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/30/facebook-is-banning-cryptocurrency-and-ico-ads/
Well facebook is right about it,I see alot of ads in facebook promoting ponzis and scam projects.
They are just trying to protect users as when people get scammed by these projects, Facebook is taking a hit in the face since users will go and complain about it in Facebook's support.
706  Other / Meta / Re: How Secure is BitcoinTalk? on: January 28, 2018, 12:33:56 AM

Government don't have to "force" Bitcointalk to leak user's IP. They just send subpoenas to Admin (Theymos) asking for all the details of the account(s) they're interested in. I believe that's applicable only for ongoing investigations, where the charges have been pressed, not a routine checks, but not sure on that.

In your case, in practice, your local authorities would have to know that you are resident of the country and if they wanted to go after you, they would have to request their US counterparts to get your details from Theymos. That is very unlikely to happen unless you're a big fish.

What I would be more concerned about, is your local law enforcement authorities asking your local Internet Service Providers for the details of all the frequent visitors of BTC/crypto related websites.

Invest in VPN.
Damn,I haven't thought of governments asking ISPs to check people activities.

The problem with VPNs is that they are also companies and nothing guarantee that they also won't leak my IP address etc...I think tor is the best to go since there is a concrete proof that with tor you are untraceable (dark/deep web) but yet,BitcoinTalk is having issues with accepting tor dunno if they changed that though.

Anyway thanks for the replies guys.Let me know if you have more infos.I'll try to figure it out on my part.
Only administrators can see his IP address unless the data is compromised yes. However, there are some "tricks" if someone wants your IP, but if you are targeted and someone really wants your IP, you just need to not make yourself a target...

If you are really concerned with your IP, buy a  VPS, make your own VPN. You need maybe 30 minutes and can find some cheap deal on LowEndBox for $15 per year
I don't trust VPNs that much to be honest but thanks for the suggestion VPN better than nothing
707  Other / Meta / Re: How Secure is BitcoinTalk? on: January 28, 2018, 12:17:34 AM
If the forum gets hacked again, then who knows what will happen with the data which was compromised. It'll likely get sold and eventually surface in the public eyes for free.

How likely is it that the government will request your information? Unless, you are caught breaking the law and up on trial it's unlikely that they would send a request. The above link was major news around the crypto world. It's probably the biggest subpoena that theymos has received to date. If theymos does receive a request to release data on you then it's down to his discretion.
Well I don't know how likely that the government will request my informatios but you never know,we can't predit the future.
Although there is someways to hide IP address and stuff like theymos said:

I am willing to cooperate with police on real scams. Whenever someone asks me to release a scammer's IP, I tell them to have police email me from an official police address. I have received police requests a handful of times. Mostly the cases were real scams and I gave the police the requested info. In some cases I've rejected their requests. For example, I refused to give information to some foreign version of the SEC because securities laws are unjust. Of course, you should not trust that I will act in your best interest. If you want to be anonymous, then you must use Tor (or whatever).

But as far as I know Bitcointalk is blocking connections from tor and asks to pay some fee to be able to use the tor proxy IP.I guess that is to avoid multi-accounts from scammers and spammers but it's problematic.
708  Other / Meta / Re: How Secure is BitcoinTalk? on: January 27, 2018, 11:51:24 PM
Only administrators can see your IP address. If theymos receives a request from the government or whoever then he'll likely have to give up public information depending on the details of the case. Though, how likely would it be that the government would request theymos to release information. Especially if you are just browsing and taking part in discussion.

theymos has in the past gave up public information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=881488.0
Let's just say that case was quite substantial.

I am willing to cooperate with police on real scams. Whenever someone asks me to release a scammer's IP, I tell them to have police email me from an official police address. I have received police requests a handful of times. Mostly the cases were real scams and I gave the police the requested info. In some cases I've rejected their requests. If you want to be anonymous, then you must use Tor (or whatever).

Well that is problematic.
As I said above,I live in a country where Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency is banned/illegal.Suppose my country's government asks admin to give them my IP address etc.. I guess he would release them?Obviously I'm not a scammer but I give value to my privacy because of my country
Are you sure that only admins have access to my IP?I remember that BitcoinTalk was hacked before. What will happen if BitcoinTalk gets hacked and informations get leaked?Sorry for being paranoid. That how it feels when living in a country where cryptos is banned.
709  Other / Meta / How Secure is BitcoinTalk? on: January 27, 2018, 11:31:17 PM
Hello guys,
Recently a question crossed my mind about bitcointalk.
As we know Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous , so basically users post their bitcoin address here ; let's take per example "Aveatrex" posted his bitcoin address to receive a payment, unless someone knows  "Aveatrex" real identity in real life the payment will be anonymous.
But, if someone knows "Aveatrex" IP, he would know "Aveatrex" identity , so here's my question: How secure BitcoinTalk? I mean it is possible for someone to get my IP from here? And what happens if a government forces BitcoinTalk to leak users IP address?
This is really important for me as I live in a country where Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency is banned/illegal.

PS:This is a serious discussion don't spam your signature.
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: anonymity and lack of transparency on: January 27, 2018, 07:11:16 PM
Hi,
I was reading some articles about what was said at the Davos economic summit. See this quote below:
"The fact that the anonymity, the lack of transparency and the way in which it conceals and protects money laundering and financing of terrorism and all sorts of dark trades is just not acceptable," Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said during a panel talk in Davos earlier this week.

Any thoughts? Are there any new features or coins that overcome these problems?
How do we educate these people who keep talking like this?

Criminals have been using fiat currencies for ages, but they are not concerned about that.

Thanks
This is just another excuse to take down bitcoin.
They claim that Bitcoin encourage money laundering and illegal traffic but with or without Bitcoin, these crimes will always be there since like you said fiat currency is untraceable too.
In general, cryptocurrency is hard to track and 99% of traceable cryptos are not decentralised so creating a traceable coin means creating something against the concept of cryptocurrency.
PS:That's my opinion

712  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is bitcoin dangerous ? on: January 24, 2018, 09:56:07 PM
I'm wondering why bitcoin was made if there are too many currencies in each country, why would anyone add or make a type of currency in the internet? For easier and faster transactions or so ?
Bitcoin isn't dangerous if you use it in the right way.Lately people started sing Bitcoin to scam people money since it's irreversible. Also Bitcoin isvolatile don't sell your home to buy Bitcoin,it'sn investment and with investments there is always risk.
Moreover, bitcoin has been created to fight against the normal monetary system where governments and banks controls it and that is subject to crisis.Furthermore, now governments can track your transactions.Bitcoin is anonymous.
In short,if you use bitcoin in the right way there is nothing to be worried about.
713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: YouTuber's using marketing schemes toward bitcoin on: January 24, 2018, 09:48:26 PM
I am tired of seeing YouTuber's with "How to make $1000 with bitcoin in 10 seconds" so I created a video discussing some of the famous "experts" on YouTube.

Many YouTube cryptocurrency "experts" will try and sell you products using marketing tactics. With these huge subscriber platforms, comes great responsibility and so I am here to point out some obvious tactics!

YouTube Video: How to save THOUSANDS by not investing in these marketing schemes

My editing was poor but I think you will find the video entertaining if not informational!

What do you guys think about these YouTubers discussing bitcoin strategies? Crypto Oracle, Ryan Hildreth, and JR business.
The problem is that there is alot of people who still don't even know what bitcoin is,they only hear about it in youtube, media etc..
Ponzis, hyip and similar scam zschemes use bitcoin as a payment because bitcoin transactions is irreversible which makes it easier to scam people.also, whenever I see a video on youtube talking about bitcoin/cryptocurrency I automatically skip it because I already know that it gonna talk about bullshit things.

715  Other / Off-topic / Re: What wallets do you use? on: January 23, 2018, 07:11:07 PM
Which one suits you the most?
I'm currently using electrum wallet because it's easy to use and no need to download the huge blockchain.
However lately someone discovered a vulnerability in electrum fortunately it got patched fast but I'm starting to get skeptical about this.
I'm thinking about moving to a hardware wallet like ledger or trezor, still not sure which one I'll be buying I have to study a bit more advantages and cons of each one.
716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Question for all on: January 23, 2018, 10:31:59 AM
We have all read stories of coins being sent to wrong addresses (typos or badly copy and pastes)

What would you do if 100 Btc landed into your account? (unfortunately this has not happened to me yet)
Even if this is mostlikely impossible because when a typo isn't enough to redirect the transaction to another address but let's play the game.
If suddenly 100BTC landed on my wallet I would re-send them to their owner (I can't sleep at night if I have funds that are not mine) and hopefully the owner will appreciate my act and will give me some tips Smiley
717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: January 23, 2018, 10:26:07 AM
I know a lot of people have different reason why the love and embrace bitcoin.
For me the decentralized nature of bitcoin and the thought of being able to send coins to anybody in any part of the word, no third party, no regulation(specific amount), no bullshit is mind blowing.

What impresses me about bitcoin is transactions being pseudo-anonymous and that amazing concept of blockchain.I mean the guy who thought of creating a blockchain for bitcoin (Satoshi) is genius I really admire him.
Also the fact that bitcoin is still standing with governments spreading fud and banning it this is impressing I guess bitcoin is the first thing that even governments are having hard time to counter it

Interesting project.
I'm not alot into DAG technology but I'll follow this project closely anyway because I like the concept of encrypting values during the transaction.I actually have some questions about this. What is the hardcap? And will Wisp Coin use Proof of Stake or Proof of Work? When bounties will be available to be claimed?
What will be the role of masternodes and what their price will be?

720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Ethereum on: January 21, 2018, 09:14:53 PM
If you compare the two main cryptocurrency, namely Bitcoin and Ethereum, which one has the most promising future?
In terms of evolution, Bitcoin reached a maximum of roughly 4800$, whereas Ethereum reached roughly 394$: in other words, it is a potential increase of 33 % for Ethereum, but only 24% for Bitcoin.
In my opinion,Bitcoin and Ethereum complete each other.Although Bitcoin remains the king of cryptocurrency, ethereum has it's unique feature to operate smart contracts on it's blockchain. This is a considerable advantage since smarts contracts encourage using ethereum to buy tokens etc...
However, since bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency evermade it's normal that Bitcoin price is rising more than ethereum but so far Ethereum has been able to catch up on bitcoin price fairly compared to other cryptocurrencies.
