261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Electro-Magnetic-Pulse on: March 22, 2017, 11:35:44 PM

If I could find a way to send some sort of emf pulse through Bitmain's entire network, and completely ruin them I would. This would include all of their equipment and wallets where they store all of their coins and backups. Poof, in a blink of an eye, Bitmain lays in ruins. How great would that be people? They are the biggest threat to bitcoin right now.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is a Fork coming or is it too early to know for sure? on: March 22, 2017, 10:41:26 PM

What are the factors that will determine whether Bitcoin will fork or not?

If it forks, will I need 2 seperate wallets?

Is it true that my coins will double if it forks?

When is Bitcoin expected to fork?

263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: attacks on the blockchain on: March 22, 2017, 12:06:41 PM
wow,

Thant's heavy!
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holders, are you diversifying in case the fork proves catastrophic on: March 22, 2017, 12:29:42 AM

I personally have not seen any data that suggests that any of the alt coins are going to be doing any heavy trending upwards, hence, I am staying with btc, but I will invest in a few of the alts, maybe lite coin, etherum, dash, zek, and monero, I'll just keep watching them daily to see what happens with them.

265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / attacks on the blockchain on: March 21, 2017, 11:50:48 PM

Can anyone please explain what a 51% attack and what a replay attack are?

Also, I have been reading some news in regards to exchanges contingency plans, in case bitcoin forks, some exchanges are saying that they will not be trading BU if there are no mitigations to stop replay attacks. Can someone please explain this?

Thank-You in advance.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Mining pools spamming the network with fake transactions? on: March 21, 2017, 09:33:14 PM

Mining pools are what screwed up btc to begin with. They should not be permitted, regardless of their benefits. Miners should be on their own, without any pools, then we would not have this looming threat of a fork that is coming. Satoshi did not have mining pools in mind when he designed it. Mining pools also threaten decentralization.
267  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BTC never arrived. on: March 21, 2017, 06:52:42 PM

O.K. it looks like their system (coinbase) was running behind, because I just received an email from them saying the amount has been sent, plus my "watch only wallet" is now showing the transaction, unconfirmed.

Thanks guys.
268  Economy / Web Wallets / BTC never arrived. on: March 21, 2017, 06:01:26 PM

Aproximately 5 minutes ago, I sent  about a $1.00 worth of btc from my coinbase account to my wallet, I don't see a trace of it anywhere. Here is the address I sent to: 123U9FWpvAMPHo4vs7dx3JnJcg5RqZmuuX. It appears that coinbase calculated the fees automatically, because I was not given the chance to enter anything. Not that I am worried, because this was a test trans. I am planning on doing a larger transaction and just want to make sure that everything will be O.K. If anyone could give me some guidance I would appreciate it.

thanks.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lunacy of BTU Supporters on: March 20, 2017, 11:16:16 PM
I would highly recommend that if you are against BU, pull out of all the exchanges that support it. Don't give them the business. For example Hashnest, and the Antpool. They are heavy supporters of BU, and have gone as far as to call core supporters crazy. Fuck that Chi*k
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about sending btc on: March 20, 2017, 10:24:20 PM
Just tried an experiment,

I tried to create a watching only wallet with an address one off of a real one, and the 'next' key remains gray. Once I correct to the real address, it allows you to click next. That's a good security feature.

However, lets say i send BTC to an incorrect but VALID address, how do I contact the owner of that address, to BEG for my BTC back? Can I send them a message somehow? Should I not be able to contact him or her, could I plead my case to the mining pool that processed the block, or will I just be laughed at more than likely?
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about sending btc on: March 20, 2017, 07:53:43 PM

thanks!
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about sending btc on: March 20, 2017, 04:42:37 PM

O.K. I Think I understand, so if the bitcoin address you are sending to was not generated by a wallet or the address could not be generated by a wallet in the future at some point, it will not send.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex = Scam exchange beware. on: March 20, 2017, 01:44:42 AM

To each his own, but my gut tells me to stay away, far away. Read the 'terms of service' and you'll see what I am talking about.

And please don't respond that you read it, and that it is a standard 'terms of service', because if not.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about sending btc on: March 19, 2017, 10:45:03 PM
There is a checksum in there so the odds of mistyping an address and having it be valid is very low.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address

So would it bounce back to me?
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / question about sending btc on: March 19, 2017, 10:33:57 PM

Supposing I make a slight error on the send address. Lets suppose my true send address is 1nJko9385729bVFD7w but I make a mistake and I accidentally type 1nJko9385729bVFD7v <-- just an accidental change on the last character. If the second address does not belong to anyone will my bitcoin bounce back to me, or is it lost forever?

thanks in advance.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex = Scam exchange beware. on: March 19, 2017, 04:54:43 PM

I read the their "terms of services" today, and, although I have an account, I am leaning towards not doing any business with them. Basically, they can take your account from you anytime they feel like it at their discretions, freeze your funds, etc... I have read other user terms, and none were anything "so against the user" like Poloniex.  I agree with the OP. stay away if you can.

278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the SEC right after all? on: March 19, 2017, 02:27:43 PM
The current dip in the price has nothing to do with the SEC.... You will see a big DASH and ETH pump now, and then it will crash again. People are making money out of this whole situation. In the end, most of this will return to normal when these people dumped their Alt coins and bought Bitcoin again. The SEC is being controlled by banks.... so most of us expected that it would not be approved.  Wink

If the ETF had been approved and we witnessed such volatility, the SEC might look foolish with billions of dollars of investor wealth being wiped out. And they would have had to investigate allegations of market manipulation. So they just played safe and rejected the ETF.

Bitcoin should have nothing to do with the sec, we don't need them. I am glad they rejected, and I hope they will continue to do so.
279  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 2.9 BTC possibly lost on: March 19, 2017, 11:17:38 AM

Well, the hard drive has been removed and it's in the hands of someone who knows how to use data recovery software, however, it's already been explained to him, that the recovery will be unlikely.  So there goes about $3k or more just trapped in the block chain forever.

Right now he has set up a watch only wallet, since he had the addresses, but that will do him no good.
280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the SEC right after all? on: March 19, 2017, 11:10:00 AM
The SEC didn't say the price wasn't stable or whatever stupid shit you're trying to say. It was declined because bitcoins aren't regulated by a government agency. A quick google would have gotten you that answer.

Yes, the main point for rejecting the ETF is because Bitcoin is unregulated. I have said Bitcoin is not ready for ETF, just look at the way the value lost $200 in a day. When the market matured enough we will get there but not now.

And to add to that, why on earth would the ETF accept Bitcoin with the current conflict with the dumbass miners who could potentially sink Bitcoin?
