221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin wobbles as traders turn to other cryptocurrencies amid uncertain future on: March 28, 2017, 11:41:03 AM
"wobble" seriously this the word you chose Cheesy

and what is up with all the market cap talk. there is only bitcoin with "real" market that has real volume based on real demand. the rest of them are pump coins which have 1000BTC volume today and in a week or so they are back to 0.01BTC daily volume. do you seriously think that market cap is that thing to look at when price and volume of altcoins are like this!

the title of this thread is exactly the same as the article that appeared on cnbc yesterday, in which i attached an image for you to look at.

i can't decide which option to vote for Cool

this is what i do:
- i bought coins 3 years ago which i am still holding
- i have been buying more coins each month or 2 months when i have some more money
- i have also bought even more coins whenever there is a dip because of big FUD and it has happened 3 times that i am well aware of and took advantage of in the past 3 years. i even borrowed money to do so.
- i also spend bitcoin whenever i need something and i want to buy it online, specially if there is a discount or i want to keep my privacy.
- i also do some altcoin trading,it is not diversification since i dump them in less than a week.

Sounds like you're a buyer. Wink

Bitcoin has utility, eth just barely has one or two uses.

What good is that utility (e.g. transferring value) if I can't use it because the fees go to $100 per transaction?

You don't think most of the places that accept crypto now will not accept ETH when nobody can use Buttcoin any more.

The current standoff means fees will just keep increasing.

This war isn't over yet.

$100.00 fee to transfer how much btc? with today's average transfer fees, it would cost $100.00 to transfer $17,203.00 worth of BTC. In my opinion that's more than reasonable.

You ought to give a link to the article when you reference it.  CNBC actually mentioned altcoins?  That seems strange to me.

In any case, bitcoin has "wobbled" before and seemed like it was down for the count back in 2014-15.  A little wobble doesn't bother me much.   That's just bitcoin for ya.

Here is the link, but when I pasted it the first time, the forum considered it suspect, and trimmed it. I'll try again. If not, just google the title, of this thread, and the article should come up. Yes, cnbc did alt currencies.

Not sure why this forum considers the link suspect. the above link is accepted and is a screenshot of the cnbc article.

I am also holding. I know things will be O.K, but if it forks, I think it will quickly be apparent which coin is going to be the one, and that's when I'll buy.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum going to take over bitcoin in the upcoming months? on: March 27, 2017, 11:28:37 PM
They're just getting ready to pump etherum

Thanks. Then I am happy I bought some.

You better know when the schemers will dump, because you may get left holding the bag.  Shocked Shocked

I just created this poll because I wanted to get a feel for what everyone is doing out there. Thanks for voting peeps!
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's add up the KNOWN lost bitcoins on: March 27, 2017, 10:58:21 PM

A friend lost 2.9 BTC a week ago because he formatted a hard drive and did not back anything up. $3000.00 locked in the blockchain.  i created a post for him on this forum, but after him taking the HD to specialist, the BTC was no able to be recovered.
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin wobbles as traders turn to other cryptocurrencies amid uncertain future on: March 27, 2017, 10:46:40 PM
according to cnbc. in this article

The reality is if you look at https://www.cryptocompare.com/  Eth, dash, and zek, are down and BTC is up within the last few days.  ROLMAO!!
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum going to take over bitcoin in the upcoming months? on: March 27, 2017, 09:48:57 PM

So?

They're just getting ready to pump etherum, then they will dump it watch.

Besides, Etherum has a cap on its price too. Can't make those contracts too expensive..... No thanks.
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RIP Bitcoin, better luck next time on: March 27, 2017, 01:26:23 AM

All the people on here that are praising eth are the normal piece of shit types (schemers) that pump and dump alt coins. Etherum is shit. It will always be shit. BTC is the only real Digital Currency.

Please explain why are people exchanging BTC for ETH according to what you said?

Because they lack knowledge of digital currencies.

Why would you assume that? Do you have any evidence to back that up? If so, please mention that.

Take a look at this article.

http://www.financemagnates.com/cryptocurrency/trading/is-ethereum-a-bubble-or-is-it-being-pumped-what-does-the-data-say/

Playing with Etherum may be dangerous to your wallet. I am not doing it.

and by the way. Check out the below website, it's pretty cool.

https://www.cryptocompare.com/

This is an outdated article.

The pump we have now is different. It represent increased users' adoption to the currency and looks like BTC holders want to reserve their share of this hoping for higher returns. That's what I think.

It's an older article but it still stands true.

You are welcomed to invest in whatever you like. I think anyone who invests 'for the long term' in etherum is a fool, but to each his own. Good luck.

235  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is developing your own Wallet safer? on: March 26, 2017, 03:24:34 PM
You would be very foolish to try to develop your own wallet, without having extreme knowledge of the blockchain, programming, and encryption.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the electrum wallet. Learning to use a wallet is very important as well, or you can be subject to attack, even with a good wallet.
236  Bitcoin / Hardware / Bitmain Ant Miners on: March 26, 2017, 03:07:05 PM

What would happen if bitmain decided to produce miners that only worked with BU? Could they eventually shut CORE down. Would this approach have an impact since they are the biggest supplier of miners?
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A quick question. What would happen to my Bitcoin balance after BU is activated? on: March 26, 2017, 02:53:31 PM

Someone who knows bitcoin and coding very well, needs to figure out how to teach the antpool and its owners a lesson they'll never forget. some way needs to be figured out, as to how to burn them all badly.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RIP Bitcoin, better luck next time on: March 26, 2017, 02:22:50 PM
So Satoshi Bitcoin will split to Chinese Bitcoin and Donald Trump Bitcoin.

If only core developers were capable/motivated/competent to find a solution to increase block size so that people can continue using bitcoin without paying ridiculous fees and insane confirmation time.
Anyways, if there is a split then BTC will not survive as BU needs 70% miner support and if there is 70% support, even less than 50% of those miners can do a 51% attack on BTC, so BTC will need to change their POW as they are planning now, at that point BTC will no longer be BTC but just another altcoin, and a technically inferior coin to many other altcoins.

So why wait for everything to fall apart when the only option is to choose an altcoin and start using it.

OP,  The alias you have chosen fits you perfectly well.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin 20 Years From Now on: March 26, 2017, 01:54:42 PM
We are now experiencing the efficient, fast and amazing convergence of technologies which one way or the other greatly contributing to the rise of the cryptocurrencies and making Bitcoin as the King of the Hill so far.

Looking into the future...what do you think will be the scenario involving Bitcoin twenty years from now? Will Bitcoin be worth more than a million or will it ceased to exist? Or will a new crytocurrency replace the supremacy of Bitcoin...?

How do you figure?Huh? You are obviously blind.

What convergence of technologies?? There is nothing but chaos within miners in the bitcoin atmosphere and that's putting downward pressure on BTC.  There is no convergence of technologies. In fact, the opposite is true. There might be a split (fork) in technologies.

Wake up and smell the coffee.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Bald Lizard on: March 25, 2017, 09:26:11 PM

AKA, Jim Cramer, from Mad Money on NBC, puts down bitcoin in this youtube video, telling it's a bad investment, and the government should outlaw it. What a complete putz really.

Same with Sephanie Link. They know nothing!!!
