They STILL haven't released their software. There are currently NO visible transactions. That being said, they may just be stalling to premine it. Unlikely but possible.

They should really have got something sorted now but still not... With bitcoin cash, people coded it and bitmain and viabtc (among others) pointed miners at bitcoin cash nodes immediately. With viabtc venturing to mine the first block.

EXACTLY

They are definitely stalling for some reason, or they are severely lacking funds to put together a coding team that can get the job done. It's highly suspicious.

If that's the case then they should hand the project over to a team who can actually code something a bit faster.
The difficulty, I assume, is that they have to switch algorithms as they want to be "asic proof" which is literally impossible but they'll have ti change the algorithm to something that can only be mined on CPUs/GPUs and it'd have to be a complex algorithm so that companies cannot easily produce asics that are faster and more efficient than them at least for a while.

Then why would they fork so soon, when they didn't have a solution to what they wanted to accomplish??

Does anyone know what is going on with the bitcoin gold blockchain?? Is it functional yet, that is, can the coins be moved?? Why is it taking so long for them to get it right??? Is it just incompetence on the part of the BTG TEAM or is something else going on?? Or is BTG the coin that will never be?Huh

Bitcoin Cash did not have a problem getting their blockchain immediately online. Just want to know what's going on and if I should just give up in trying to get them??

I had my coins in a hardware wallet and they will support it when the following three bullet points are met

Ledger will add immediate ability to make transactions with Bitcoin Gold as soon as:

the Bitcoin Gold code is available
the Bitcoin Gold network publishes a proof of replay protection
we are sure that the transactions network is successful and valid

Why is it taking the BTG team so long to get their act together?

Lol scammed? Fucking newbies I tell you.

K so do you know what a fork is? Did you know this has happened before? Did you know there where MANY unsuccessful forks in the past?

There's no wallet. There's no blockchain. It's pre-mined for crying out loud. Do you really think this is going to be worth anything at all? Also, who scammed you!? Technically you still have your shitcoin.

Omg. So delusional.

uhhh I am far from a newbie. I have been involved with btc since 2014

Let's DO OUR PART to stifle B2X. When you get it, dump it immediately, and forget about it. MINERS, don't mine the shiat! Lets DOOM the project right after we cash in!!

YOUR COMMENTS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Has the Bitcoin Gold blockchain officially come online yet??? I want to get them and sell them. Seems like we're getting scammed!!!

What wallet do you used to stored your bitcoin during the hard fork? Most of wallet still don't support bitcoin gold right now and only some exchange allows trading of BTG. How come do you conclude that you have been scam? There is no investment involve during the hard fork except for hodl.

I have a ledger wallet

Its just a hardware wallet
If a local thief finds out you have a fortune in bitcoins, he can always kidnap you and make you give him everything you have  Tongue

Good Luck
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My 387 Bitcoins got hacked and stolen! on: October 30, 2017, 12:36:27 PM

Your story appears to be fake!

There is currently 3.85 bitcoins being sent to that address right now. Why would you be sending to it if the private key has been compromised? Who else would send to it???

I send to it because I don't know my wallet was stolen. When I know I send out instantly!

It's hard to believe that you would be managing so many bitcoins using paper wallets as such, and that you did not take the time to manage things properly. For that kind of value, you should be using a hardware wallet.

52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help recover stolen bitcoins?? How did it happen? on: October 27, 2017, 01:24:04 AM

Hi sir,

To avoid this type of thing from occurring, you can purchase a hardware wallet. If offers much much greater protection than the method you are using, regardless if your computer is compromised or not. With a legitimate hardware wallet, you are very likely to put the breaks on hackers.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GO AHEAD.... STEAL MY SEED!! on: October 26, 2017, 11:30:25 PM

WOW,

I can't believe not one of you got it. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS THREAD WAS TO GET YOU GUYS TO ADD A PASSPHRASE TO YOUR SEED, making it much more difficult for someone to hack you. Doing this does not necessarily require a hardware wallet. I just happen to have one. ADD A PASSPHRASE TO YOUR SEED PEOPLE!!!
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GO AHEAD.... STEAL MY SEED!! on: October 26, 2017, 09:01:49 AM
Lol, don't go jinxing yourself now man. It's true that hardware wallets are one of the safest ways to store your coins, and you're definitely safer now than you were ever before, but it would be dangerous to assume you can't be stolen from. Overconfidence can cause certain lapses, and those lapses could lead to your coins being stolen.

Hardware wallets could also have certain vulnerabilities, of which there are recent examples, like here: https://cointelegraph.com/news/are-hardware-wallets-really-safe.

It's highly unlikely you're going to get victimized by anything at this point, as hardware wallets are still ridiculously hard, if not impossible to exploit remotely, but it would still be a good idea to be as careful as you were before. Good luck!

Oh, Yes, I am being careful. No doubt about that.

What are you sophisticated bitcoin thiefs ( and I know you prowl around this forum) gonna do now? huh? you bitches!!! I now have a hardware wallet with a seed and a passphrase at the end of it. You ain't gonna get steal diddly squat.... LOL

Its called a stick. its one of the most sophisticated hacking tools available on the market right now  Wink

you see, someone can come to your house with a stick, and beat your ass with said stick until you hand over the funds. To hell with a virus.

but seriously, you can have your coins stolen by life. you can lose it, it can get broken and you lose the seed, someone else can discover the seed. you arent bulletproof just because you have a hardware wallet. you are very well protected, however, if you follow proper procedure and hygiene.

Believe me when I tell you that no one will come to my house with a stick and beat my ass. That would be a big mistake on their part.

Better hope a real thief doesn't come in and steal that physical wallet,
because regardless of whether he could access the bitcoins on it,
you'll be shit out of luck.   And pray for no fires, floods, or nuclear
warfare...lol, just kidding.  I'm thinking about getting some sort of
physical wallet, too, one of these days.  How much did you pay for it?

I paid around $200.00 usd for it.

but they allways can broke to your house and steal hardware wallet : ).
You need to be warry about many things. Hackers can swap you firmaware on hardware wallet and stuff like that.
I think there is allwya way to broke in but we don't know those hacks.
We will now them later so don't be so cocky and try be humble.

Wrong again PAL.

If the firmware is tampered with, the wallet will warn you. And I can manually check the signatures myself.

What are you talking about?Huh? If a thief, or somehow, someway, I become separated from the hardware wallet, I could just use my seed plus my passphrase to recover the wallet....

60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friend gives wallet seed to stranger and bitcoins disappear from his wallet on: October 24, 2017, 09:13:22 AM

Going forward, my friend tells me he will buy more bitcoin, but be more careful next time. Right now, he will be on the sidelines because he has no more money to invest.

He is thinking that this was a great kick in the balls from the stranger. What if btc goes to 10k, 25k, 50k? I told him he needs to hope for the best, however, expect the worst, and move on.

Really pain in his heart to lost BTC2.6
What kind of wallet did he used?
What kind of features did he asked?
How long your friend have been using/holding bitcoin? A newbie or layman could be tricked obviously.
But, the most funny part is: the stranger at a bar that is known to have a lot of bitcoiners around.
Hopefully police could manage to find this stranger which known to have a lot of bitcoins around.

He bought the bitcoins about 1 year ago.

He was using electrum wallet on his computer.

He wanted to know how to password protect the seed. The stranger apparently was next to him watching his computer.

He had been holding for one year, but never really paid much attention until recently. I would say he is considered a newbie.
