Hi,

Successfully Cross Compiled Datacoin v0.16.3.0-74075b1f3-dirty Windows Binaries on Ubuntu 18.04

Notes;

Patch file for czmq and mingw32 required to cross compile.
Compile with --with-incompatible-bdb and --with-gui=yes

Running -reindex now and then tests will begin between wallets and previous wallets - let me know if you want to be part of this.

Will keep you posted on the progress.

Download of the Windows Binaries v0.16.3.0 - https://www.datacoin.tk/source/?dir=v0.16.3.0

Thx,

H

Just trying it too.
Ryzen 1800x, Crucial ssd, 16GB, says at least 12 hours to resync.....WTF ! Smiley
Will see how it goes.

Update, nearly 2 hours gone by and now says 3 days time to complete.....i think THE biggest upgade anyone can make to this wallet is the syncing, it IS, and always has been crap !!!
Seriously, i can download a new Litecoin wallet, and the whole blockchain)or do i full resync) in less than 7 hours, and thats with  hdd, not an ssd...poor form

Hey guys are there any new CPU only minable ALTs on the scene you know about that launched like up to a month ago?
Would like to use my server to mine this is pure fun / educational purposes and you newer know maybe MOONNNN  Cheesy

Cheers

Hi, i'd be interested to know what server you have? Cpus? L3=cache, RAM, etc.
Thanks

225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best CPU Mineable Coins in 2019 and CPU Mining Guides [UPDATED!] on: July 30, 2020, 10:18:04 AM
Some people say that Ryzen processor is good for CPU mining, is anyone here is using this AMD processor now? Is it profitable? how about the hash power produced by this procie is it okay? If anyone here already using it kindly share your experience with this processor. Thanks

Ryzen CPUs have several advantages over Intel for CPU mining, most notably price per core and cache per core.
It's disadvantages, poor AVX2 and no AVX512, aren't typically needed for "CPU" coins. Coins that benefit from
AVX* can usually be mined more efficienty with a GPU.

In short Ryzen CPUs are better for the kind of computing that GPUs can't do well, while Intel CPUs are good at computing
that GPUs can do better.

In overall you could say that, Intel is way better than amd cpu chip am i right? I read lots of discussion about Intel and AMD processor and people argued about their performance in CPU mining, of course there's a lot of opinion, but anyway, thanks to your input.

Hi John,
I guess the first think to ask yourself, is what algo do i want to mine.....then we can possibly help you.
I mine with a Ryzen 1700 and a 1800X, and find they outperform pretty much all intel desktop cpus....of a similar core count
If you use cpuminer-opt, just remember to try the cpuminer-zen option, sometimes it gives better result that the other options, really depends on the algo....
Ideally you need to determine what the main pointer is with your specific algo, is it clock speed bound? memory speed bound? bandwidth bound? cache bound?
eg the 3600 although only 6c/12t outperforms my 1800X 8c/16t for certain algos because it has 32mb cache not 16mb, then again a TR 1900 beats both on other algos if you run quad channel ram.

Jaydee, if you read this, how's about releasing a version of cpuminer which runs directly off say a usb stick,
I don't mean a linux or windows version, rather a dos/machine code executable. that would run at full speed without the overheads associated with an OS (MSDos still works even on Ryzen ssds systems Smiley )

Is there anyone found block recently?

We know people are.  Pool mining is a way to go for less powerful CPU's.  Check out our Discord.

Here's the block explorer link: https://roi-coin-blockexplorer.roi-coin.com/

Blocks are found pretty fast  Wink

My current mining stats:

 Hashrate: 2.87 KH/s
 Hashrate avg: 2.92 KH/s

gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5-windows.zip

gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5.1-windows.zip

How's about an Nvidia miner please?
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU / GPU - Zero Premine on: July 26, 2020, 08:07:43 PM
i have copied my roaming/gapcoin folder for you.

https://gofile.io/d/YzVePj

It includes a sample .conf file too
Hope it helps

Where it says

rpcallowip = *

change to

rpcallowip = Your IP / Device IP

If you use * that is a wild card to allow any IP to connect to RPC it's best to put your own IP here or the IP of a connecting device like a miner.

even so it doesn't sync

I appreciate all the bootstrap files from everyone. I am having trouble getting the wallet to actually stay open long enough for it to import the entire file. Would anyone mind just zipping their data file so that we dont have to import via bootstrap. I don't think the wallet is up to the task. My computer is not slow by any means and after two days, the wallet decides to crash (This has happened multiple times). This wouldn't be a problem if it didnt corrupt the data, resulting in assertion errors. It will not reindex either, so I am forced to just start over. Thank you in advance.

I have exactly same issues.
I have tried countless times on both a clean Win7 and Win 10 PC, and if you sync from scratch you have better results BUT usually takes over a week. If you use bootstrap just crashess everytime.

IF i ever get synced i will zip you my folder, but to be honest, even when fully synced, i find the wallet just crashes, and dont even bother trying to mine to it...

The wallet def needs an update to address these issues....either that or the source needs updating so it can be easily compiled on say Ubuntu20, Mint 19, etc....then at least it may encourage more newbies to try it.

Any reason to re-post the entire front page?

In a few posts time it will be lost in the general thread....fairly pointless.

Have fun

btcpop.co is a working exchange

Never heard of it, but I must give it a chance, even tho I don't like "staking" exchanges.
Do you have a link to the XMG market, as I was unable to find the markets, also I don't want to register just to see the order book.

With btcpop, you cannot see any markets without joining, any "hotlinks" fail
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Binary-Chain - VeriCoin and Verium - The First Dual-Blockchain Protocol on: July 22, 2020, 11:11:28 PM
I was mining VRM a couple months ago and never really figured out how to get VRC or how to stake the coin.

It this already possible? Can I send VRM to a VRC wallet and will that in turn generate VRC?

Hi, i'd like to know the same please. I have tried sending VRM to VRC and it just gets lost, also tried importing priv keys and still to good.
I thought this was one of the main goals of the binary chain? Seems pointless if you cant change VRM into VRC
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][2POW] Luck - A new consensus algorithm to eliminate large mining pools on: July 21, 2020, 06:23:09 PM
The smallest unit is 0.000,000,000,000,000,001 and you are getting results in these smallest units. Drop last 18 zeros and you will get the actual number of coins before decimal dot.

Edit:

your node is just not fully synced
It depends. If "net.peerCount" is nonzero and "fort.syncing" is true, then you will have to wait to get fully synced. Otherwise, if "net.peerCount" is nonzero and "fort.syncing" is false, then you probably have all blocks. You can also compare "fort.blockNumber" with the number of blocks you can see in a block explorer.

So the block reward is only 1 coin?

exactly

What a complete waste of time...why would anyone want to work with any currency with 18 decimal places......

To add Tabs to the Top and bottom you Right click the mouse button and Add New Panel which will add a new panel to the top.

But you can set the computer sensor monitors at the bottom if you want.  Than right click OVER the new tab area, and add the monitors!

Highly recommended for mining.

Mate Desktop is the only 1 that is usable for mining Gapcoin with to have full control and monitor the hardware.

Parrot OS would work also, if the compile issues are ever fixed.

But Trisquel OS is the Default Free operating system.

It is easier to develop along the Trisquel path rather than rely upon Mr. Higgins to do all the work which he seems to be too busy to do except Port the other versions of Bitcoin into Gapcoin.  If he decides to NOT maintain it than the Coding needing to keep up with Modern Linux is too much.

But if we can work together and use Trisquel OS we can all surely succeed with the maximum effect with the best amount of effort!

Plus for this Project to be viable it will require updating the Private Keys and Hash Function into Sha512 due to Quantum Computing.

I have already lost/burned lots of coins due to certain issues.  So don't think of this as more than a play token.  But the learning is exceptional that not really any AI assisted learning can provide.

I really don't get what your fascination is with Trisquel…I have tried it several times now, and find it to be truly awful.
If you want large scale adoption of this coin, the wallet and all its features must work on Win 10, Ubuntu and Mint....you will never attract volumes of newbies with any other distros
The other thing, is, if all we are doing is calculating "gaps" or primes, I have no idea why "tor" is even a thing, Surely the mining should only be reliant on cpu/gpu power, not ssd speed, internet bandwith or protocol....
Makes me suspicious that the wallet is doing much more then simply calculating primes...

Hi Graham,

Unfortunately I missed this post until today.
Any chance you can make the datadir available again for a shortwhile. (https://minkiz.co/noodlings/roulettecoin-datadir.tar.xz )
Regards
J

Do you have a copy of the binary that you made anyplace that I can grab it?
I'm not motivated enough to be bothered to build it, but I figure having a copy of what was the final version could not hurt.

And to be greedy a copy of the blockchain too if at all possible. To be shoved on the archive RAID never to be seen again.

I haven't retained any binaries, sorry. I'll make the chain available for a while: https://minkiz.co/noodlings/roulettecoin-datadir.tar.xz

Cheers

Graham

Here is what Graham sent me if he does not have it anymore:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D0B2O-2hkrdGIEZKSV1h0wNpdVdwpi54/view?usp=sharing

I still have not had the time to verify that it was a good / complete download I just grabbed it and saved it, I have not been able to spend the time to build a client to check it against.
Let me know if it works for you.

-Dave

Thankyou kindly.
Just swapped PC's so will be a while before i can check it, but i will download it now.
Will let you know

OK, used that bootstrap - worked fine.
Gets to block 1582559, Fri 8. Jun 00:13:33 2018

Thanks
