D3 and K5 are not comparable, with D3 you had 100+ coins/chances to mine and hoping that one of them could gain price and make roi (luckilly my case)

K5 is only for CKB, but that could change, maybe more coins will occur on nervos algo
What coin did you mine, that gained price, that allowed you to breakeven or even better on your antminer d3?

Dash was the ONLY coin worth mining on X11, then, now, ever whatever, imo

Speaking of the Bitmain Antminer K5, my miner mined 2600 CKB coins in 24 hours if anyone wants to read about it / hashrate logs etc - https://voskcointalk.com/t/analyzing-mining-profitability-of-our-bitmain-antminer-k5-nervos-ckb-asic-miner/210
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer K5 on: April 09, 2020, 06:05:26 PM
Ckb has been decimated by Asics now and it won't earn anything close to an roi. These are the new d3 unfortunately but at least the d3 had a decent amount of x11 coins to spread hash.

There was only one coin worth mining on X11, and it was Dash. It is also wayyyyy to early to call this the new d3, I'm not saying this is a good miner or buy etc. but yeah.

Bitmain Antminer K5 Nervos CKB Eaglesong ASIC miner unboxing by Drew Vosk
I’m on mobile at the moment but I have a full write-up on my initial impressions of the Bitmain Antminer K5 here along with my initial 4 hour mining profitability https://voskcointalk.com/t/initial-impressions-of-the-bitmain-antminer-k5-nervos-ckb-eaglesong-asic-miner-mining-22-a-day/172

Here’s an updated snapshot of the mining profitability, offhand I’m guessing this ~14 hours of mining (24 hours mined not the 08 payout).

I gave you merit because it is interest info.  You even wrote a little info here.

I do wish you would flesh out more when you post here instead of setting the clicks to you tube.
Hey Phil great to hear from you and I hope you're doing well in this crazy time. Thanks for the merit too.

I have tried to flesh the description more, but I won't deny that I copy and paste the information here onto the forum along with a link and uploaded thumbnail.

I just typed this above but I've had numerous threads deleted without any notice or explanation, I cannot even post into the Bitcoin sections of this forum most, if not all, of my threads, have been deleted there.

Lately, I've been really missing writing out some content and it's actually why I've been trying to shake off some rust writing a couple of basic introductory pieces, here's one I wrote on ASIC miners https://voskcointalk.com/t/what-is-an-asic-cryptocurrency-miner/69

In the future, say take this thread, what would you have enjoyed I added to this forum post? Fleshing out each talking piece I had in the video w/ a supporting screenshot? Ex. the E3 and firmware tweet, the screenshot of ravencoin, veil, and zcoin all expressing interest in progpow? Would love your feedback.

You make good videos some are entertaining and nice to watch.
Yeah mods here and mods in regular  sha- 256 btc mining are brutal.

But it used to feel  like you were more into here then it does now. The resining is partly because you left a lot of click my youtube video.
It is tough because you have a decent following on YouTube and some people resent you for it they know you get money if they click on your link.

This time you had enough content that I could do some research on the topic without clicking on your link.
This is where is gets complicated.  Writing an answer here is hard to do.  But if I feel it is 100% click bait I get annoyed.  This thread was not 100% click bait.
Which is why I opened a dialog with you.

Crypto has become more of a grind for me and less fun then it once was.  You are young and I know you put a lot of energy into it. But you need to have some fun with the actual product of mining gear etc. It is best when you show you believe in what you are talking about.

Hey I have 9 xmr mining rigs why is that because xmr has continued to develop anti asic tech.

Here is a commercial link to bitcoin forum market place

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5238641.0  I am trying to sell 3 lessor xmr rigs to get a super xmr rig

essentially I hope it makes more sense $$ for me to do it.
but I also want to support the xmr algo because the developers are fighting basics.
and if you look at my signature I believe in alt coins and pc/gpu mining wrapped into and around btc mining.

I don't believe in a rip-off xbox game which it looks like you warned us correctly about in this thread.

Hey Phil I give some more insight/background two replies above, was basically a reply to all three of you here in the thread.

I definitely used to be more into the forum, and I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with you, especially 2 years ago when I was very active here. I elaborated on a lot of this in my reply above, but one additional piece of information like you said crypto is more of a grind to you and less fun lately -- over the last couple years I have felt that way some too, I think the bear market is just very hard on everyone, especially overtime. In addition to the stress of cryptocurrency in 2018-2019 I reached a period of burnout with video creation, and this burnout translated into all of my work/posts and just general being. Since then I've taken a stepback and evaluated what I want to do, accomplish, automated a lot of things to help with my work/life balance and just general workflow with content creation and strived to get back into stuff that genuinely interests me.

Anyway I'm sort of just venting I guess here at this point lol, hope it's not super boring. I definitely understand and relate to your feelings. I think it's great you're dedicating your time and resources to support Monero since they're one of the very few projects that have taken any sort of stance against ASICs instead of just rolling over while Bitmain & friends cash-in.

To be clear on my above statement, what is so frustrating is when a crypto project claims ASIC resistance, and then just gives up the second an ASIC miner shows up.. I don't really care if an ASIC algo is an ASIC algo, its when a GPU or other algo is supposed to stay with that relevant hardware.. and then it does not.

after some mods deleted my threads without ever explaining why, I lost a lot of interest in fleshing out a forum post -- just to hope it isn't taken down

Ultimately I'm a video creator and not a writer. I do enjoy writing from time to time

I've seen that you are a content creator. Well done. Just this forum is about discussing, not about redirecting to your content. There are rules about that and since you are at the limit (and sometimes beyond) of those rules, it's not unexpected that some reported your topics and they got deleted.

As the others also posted here, you have to provide here more info, some basis for a discussion here. Even quoting some relevant parts from your article(s) can be a step forward. A smaller list of links also would be nice.

I don't say this to criticize you and it's ultimately you who has to decide if you make the topics forum friendly or grow angry about the deleted topics. Just this works better on written articles..

My reply above elaborates on a lot more, but I wanted to also address you directly. I appreciate your straight-forward feedback in this thread and I'll make some changes moving forward.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Nintendo Switch Game Rumored To Be SECRETLY CRYPTO MINING?! ProgPoW News on: April 09, 2020, 02:04:46 AM
Ultimately I'm a video creator and not a writer.

This comment caught my attention. I have some similar thoughts as Phillipma1957, maybe it's an age thing.
The subjects catch my interest but when I see it's a link to a video I usually give it a pass.

I find video is used too much when text and maybe a couple of stills is more appropriate, especially howto videos
displaying a computer screen while the producer is narrating the action.

My crypto dev system has no speakers and that's where I do most of my crypto related browsing.
The only vid of yours I've watched was the one about the mining farm in NC, I actually went to another computer
to watch it. I found it very interesting as I'm sure I would find many of your other topics if it was more accessible
to an old boomer.

I completely understand your point of view and appreciate you taking the time to share it.

Up to now I have not had a site (took it down for a big revamp in 2018 and it just never made it back up), always felt Reddit culture to be toxic and never enjoyed the formatting for in-depth guides/research/posts -- its just a very shallow experience IMO and then as far as forums go I originally really enjoyed Bitcointalk but again to be honest having your threads deleted and without explanation or a simple quick PM convo is extremely discouraging.

With the above in mind, my only outlet to create content is video, I've been really fortunate with my YouTube channel gaining traction and even continuing to grow through the bear market. This is why I've put a renowned focus on creating a new website that can serve as essentially a blog and just general about/contact --- maybe some cool end goals would be to add useful calculators, like halving countdowns, mining profit calculator etc (nothing revolutionary but maybe a nice layout or simply covering x y z that isn't covered on other sites/calculators)

All of the above is also why I've started posting written content here - https://voskcointalk.com/t/initial-impressions-of-the-bitmain-antminer-k5-nervos-ckb-eaglesong-asic-miner-mining-22-a-day/172
I'll also port my content over to Bitcointalk, like shown here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5239032

The issue here is that the formatting is completely different so.. basically all of the formatting needs to be re-done.

I hope this at least gives some background on why I've been just copy and pasting onto Bitcointalk lately, I do understand the feedback here in this thread. I don't want to seem like I'm just spamming my videos here, so I will look at adding more content to my posts and deleting irrelevant information and links
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Initial Impressions of the Bitmain Antminer K5 Nervos CKB Eaglesong ASIC miner on: April 09, 2020, 01:54:38 AM
Bitmain Antminer K5 Nervos CKB Eaglesong ASIC miner unboxing by Drew Vosk
The Bitmain Antminer K5 has landed thanks to [Coin Mining Central](http://voskco.in/cmck5). <-- Not a referral link to be clear. For those that have not been following all of the Nervos CKB Eaglesong ASIC mining development, the Bitmain Antminer K5 is one of two confirmed eaglesong asic miners. The Bitmain Antminer K5 consumes ~1600 watts and hashes 1130 gh/s on eaglesong, the Nervos CKBytes mining algorithm.

All of the information in this thread is ported from https://voskcointalk.com/t/initial-impressions-of-the-bitmain-antminer-k5-nervos-ckb-eaglesong-asic-miner-mining-22-a-day/172 which contains more pictures of the Bitmain Antminer K5 and screenshots of any relevant data such as actual poolside hashrate, mined coins, and current CKB to USD conversion rate.
Bitmain Antminer K5 Nervos CKB Eaglesong ASIC miner unboxing by Drew Vosk

This official Bitmain Antminer K5 model is based off of it's hashrate, a 11.3 th/s model. 1000 gh/s = 1 th/s, and a gh/s is a gigahash per second, th/s is a terahash per second. Hashrates or hashes are measures of a miners mining speed.

I plugged my Bitmain Antminer K5 in 4 hours ago, depending on how and who you order this miner from (it is no longer listed on Bitmain's official shop), your miner may come with a power supply. You'll need a power supply that has 10 PCIE connections and can supply 1600 watts 24/7 safely.

The mining profitability of the Bitmain Antminer K5 is currently exceeding expectations and calculations. The first 4 hours of mining Nervos CKB with the Antminer K5 has earned 600 CKBytes. If this mining rig maintained that high income of coins mined, it would mine 3600 coins over the next 24 hours.

If you analyze the projected mining profitability of the Bitmain Antminer K5 with our current mined coins you would earn 3600 CKB coins over the next 24 hours, which converts to ~$22 dollars mined a day, and after factoring an electric cost of $3.79 the Bitmain Antminer K5 will still earn $18 dollars a day on a 10 cent per kilowatt hour electric rate.

Recently we reviewed the mining profit calculators and how much the Bitmain Antminer K5 is supposed to make, we also factored in the electric cost of running this miner. As always it's very interesting seeing real-world mining profitability as opposed to just reading numbers off of a mining profit calculator you found on the internet! If you'd like to read more about that please reference the "Should I buy the Bitmain Antminer K5 miner" thread linked below.
https://voskcointalk.com/t/should-i-buy-the-bitmain-antminer-k5-nervos-ckb-asic-miner/164/2

We will be creating a[VoskCoin YouTube review https://www.youtube.com/voskcoin of the Bitmain Antminer K5, but it's fun to share the data we have, especially since this is such a new and exciting ASIC mining rig. Please understand that cryptocurrency mining is a very risky endeavor, and it is incredibly unlikely that the Bitmain Antminer K5 will maintain this high mining profitability rate we are currently experiencing. As more miners hit their destinations, mining profitability will continue to decrease unless the Nervos CKB price skyrockets and even it does your dollar revenue may be high, but the coins you mine per day may not be very high. We will create a post outlining 24-hour mining profitability with the Bitmain Antminer K5 Nervos CKB miner, and then roll all of this data into the VoskCoin YT review!

Hi VoskCoin, thanks for the reply.
We will post more information along the way.
Once we have a prototype, we are more than happy to send one to you for review.

Send me one too...(see my profile).....   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=99165

I'm more than bored..if that helps any Smiley

Be nice to review an ASIC unit again. If you have any extra and want more than one viewpoint. Smiley

Voskcoin, of course, should get one...

I'm just tossing my view in here..if you want 2 independent reviews at the same time to solidify your legitness as it were. Smiley

Brad

Just want to add Searing/Brad is a great and knowledgeable member of the Bitcointalk/crypto community, he's taught me plenty of things Cheesy , and I always enjoy reading his informative posts.

Perhaps you could set aside even just 5 miners for reviews, would go a long with the validity of the brand.

Check his topics history.
All they do is to redirect to his blog, his youtube channel, his ref links, his social media.. everything.
It's just a business advertised on bitcointalk imho.

Pretty exciting news when you're a Nintendo Switch gamer and a cryptocurrency miner to hear that a new Nintendo Switch game release, Cooking Mama, was apparently secretly mining a cryptocurrency blockchain with gamers Switches. Reports flew in that everyone's Nintendo Switches were overheating because of a secret code and miner were built into the Cooking Mama game causing them to mine crypto and thus overheat?! In addition to the crazy Nintendo Switch mining rumors, ProgPoW discussion is heating up yet again. Ravencoin RVN has ProgPoW on their testnet, and project Veil has ProgPoW on their devnet, and Zcoin XZC is interested in changing their MTP minign algorithm to ProgPoW as well, but they are requesting help from the creator OhGodAGirl Kristy Minehan. Bitmain has also patched the Bitmain Antminer E3 Ethereum ASIC miners, so these Antminer E3's can now mine Ethereum again, even though the ETH DAG file size is larger than they were ever anticipated to be able to mine! Oh and VoskCoin launched the VoskCoinTalk cryptocurrency and blockchain forum.. super cool right?!

We are EXCITED to hear about Ravencoin RVN exploring a truly different mining algorithm that will at least for a while favor GPU mining rigs. The difference between the slug that is Ethereum and Ravencoin is that if they commit to changing their x16r mining algorithm (variant) to their customized ProgPoW then they will do it in a reasonable time. Ethereum is STILL PLANNING apparently.. to fork their Ethash mining algorithm to their version of ProgPoW however it has been two years since we started the Ethereum ASIC mining discussion and GPU mining is still suffering to date because of this.. Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV are BOTH HALVING within the next week, and Bitcoin is halving their block reward in about 1.5 months which is very exciting news. Nervos CKB ASICs are absolutely here and DOMINATING their mining network, Nervos CKB ASIC miners are the only profitable CKB miners now. Overclocking and/or downclocking your mining rigs is an essential part of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin mining. Stock settings that miners come with are normally good generalized settings. However, if coin prices are very high, it is often best to overclock your mining rig to earn more money or coins. If your electric cost is high, then it is likely that downclocking your mining rig to achieve a more efficient and cooler mining rig, will be more profitable for you in the long-run. Today we will look at the Bixbit mining firmware for mining Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, and any other coins on the sha-256 mining algorithm. We will also review Bitcoin mining difficulty and how it is dropping BIG TIME for the first time in 2020, making it easy and thus more profitable to mine Bitcoin. We will also review Bitcoin network hashrate and price fluctuations. By the end of this video you should have a good understanding of the current state of Bitcoin BTC mining in 2020, and know how to overclock your Bitcoin mining rig, downclock your Bitcoin mining rig, and know when it is best to do one of the previously mentioned options.

Is Bitcoin and Ethereum mining still actually profitable in 2020? Let's review the Bitcoin price, and mining hashrate along with the best miners for mining BTC right now. We will also review Ethereum mining profitability in 2020, looking at GPU and ASIC Ethereum mining, and how profitable are the best mining rigs for ETH? Network difficulty, network hashrate, and the coins actual USD price are all factors when determining mining profitability in 2020 AND we will also look at just how much coin are you actually mining as far as Ether and Satoshi's!

I've had nothing but shitty experiences with them too, and theyre nearly impossible to talk to/interact with until you start ordering thousands of miners I guess

I told you what has been told in this 3d nearly 2-3 weeks ago as a comment on your youtube channel where you answered that you're gonna check it out for yourself :-)
Didn't get an answer btw, however, where you able to sort this problem out on your A10 (which you reviewed)?

issue is I no longer have an A10 and no one else chimed in about it, then everyone started looking into when the miner would potentially fail due to DAG size (4gb)

Awesome write-up Ted, maybe quote one paragraph and post a picture into this thread? Sadly a lot of people will respond here without even reading your article lol & you're a great writer.
Hey VoskCoin, I've watched a lot of your videos in 2017-2018 Grin
Sadly.. mining isn't profitable for small-time miners in recent years.

Anyway, ProgPow seems favored Nvidia GPU, and what the point anyway since ETH will move to PoS? I'll be more interested in PoW alts using ProgPow.
thanks for watching my videos then Cheesy (I still make videos btw Wink lol )

ProgPoW can be adjusted to favor Nvidia, or AMD, or attempt to find a middle ground. Recently though Nvidia cards have just kind of been.. better cards, the new 5700 helped shake that up some, but just look at how many nvidia GPU releases over the last year vs AMD

ETH isn't as close to PoS as they want to be / as many people want to believe they are. & even then they'll move to some sort of hybrid pow/pos setup for awhile
