just sent payment for one of those july 15 delivery L3's. bout to order a 100/220v step up transformer for like 60 bucks at bh photo video online store. really hoping this beast gets here unscathed!!! all the fud kept me from ordering more than one...but at like 1.5 btc for everything i mean how could i not. any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated. no rush since i got like 90 days beofre it gets here IF they decide to ship it to me I tried one of these step up converters at home when the Antminer S7 first came out. I would run it for a number of hours and eventually it would trip the 20A breaker in circuit panel. I ran the same s7's using ATX power supplies and never had one problem with breakers. Decided it might not be safe to use and gave up on it Thanks... sorry for not responding sooner, i know im hella noob!! Really wanna make sure i set everything up right. I believe in crypto but got burned back in life happened in 2015 and sold my gpu setup. have been buying slowly since but feel that crypto has enough exposure to where investing in it to secure the network seems better for crypto/my roi than just buying BTC to trade. Im a mechanincal engineer by trade and greater than average computer skills and electrical understanding. I looked up the ATX Hercules 1600W....Do you think this would work? probably going to have an electrician hook up something close to the breaker box so that I can run everything. I look forward to being a contributing member to community and hopefully will meet some interesting and knowledgeable people in the process. Nice to meet everyone!!! that psu will work for 1 and only 1 miner and will use every pci cable it has. chances r that psu uses 18awg cables like most do and they cant handle as much power as the 16awg cables can. even the evga g2 1300w psu uses 18awg cables. as for the step up transformer....you will be using more power if you run the psu's connected to that if im not mistaken. they are also not recommended as a permanent solution to your 22ov needs. i run a step up converter with one of my rework stations i bought because it only runs on 200v and above....at 110v it runs at less than half capacity and wont fully heat up using 110v. since its not perminantly running the step up converter is fine for my needs but miners need to run 24/7 so a step up converter isnt the right option to go with. What is the best solution for adding the right power? I am working on several rigs I estimate the power draw will be close to 6000 watts, how do I ensure I am running a proper, efficient, and safe setup? well lets say you have 20a breakers. that will get you about 2000w on each breakers. if the house or building came with 20a breakers your good but if the breakers before or currently are 10-15a do NOT swap them out with larger breakers because the wiring in the walls wont match what the 20a breaker needs. if your running the 6000w at home you will have to spread the load up into multiple locations in the house. even if u have the 6000w capacity running that much in 1 room of a house is probably not going to happen. most houses are 1-2 rooms per breaker. in my house the only room with its own breaker is my bedroom which is the master bedroom. the 2 rooms next to the master are on 1 breaker. and so on. the living room has all of the wall sockets on a single 20a breaker and that handles quite a few sockets. this kind of setup is typical for most houses made in the us unless special requests were made when it was being built which isnt the case for probably 99.99% of the homes built in the US. if you ran 6000w even in the largest single room in your house those miners would over heat because its just too much power for a single room to handle. as for psus...an atx psu works fine but since most come with 18awg cables and 18awg cables would burn up under that much load you will need to use 2 cables per board for a total of 9 cables from a single atx psu. you can use a server psu setup and use 16awg pci-e cables and that will need only 5 cables if the power draw is what bitmain claims it to be. i wont find out until tonight....they got delivered but im still at work. What is a good price to hire an electrician to upgrade my electric so that I may run all of my miners in my garage? Thank you for all of that detailed info.

SORRY GUYS, I have been busy this weekend, I am ready to roll now and will have an update within 24 hours, LETS GET THIS MOVING
some news from pandaminer? news from pandaminer, they will send a bulk shipment to USA (and a seporate shipment to me...however I am in New Zealand) I am sure we can send seporate shipments to asian countries. if one of the trusted buyers could reship from their address that would be a cost effective way to ensure we get the bandwagon on time. we will see how many EU units their are and go from there but most of them are USA let me know what you all think.. once gain IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE LIST MESSAGE ME WITH YOUR ADDRESS AND QUANTITIES Guys I have been doing some research on this all morning. I have big news for everyone USA based. I called one of their USA distributors - Jack Ding ( jackdingdc@outlook.com ) - he has no current stock of pandaminers however you could potentially place a pre-order through him or he could help facilitate USA distribution through this group buy - he is not a member of this forum.

I got my cube a few days ago. Baikal's website was a nightmare to order from but they came through for me twice now.
I have a mini and a cube both hashing on a Singapore node of the Dash P2pool and I'm getting regular payment to my wallet.
I'm sorry for all the people who have had problems but for me it was all OK. I had very little confidence after my experience of ordering the cube but I have to say: you can trust Baikal if you are patient with them and use their email as much as you can when ordering.
I think the concern right now is that they are behaving out of the norm. Ordering through email or skype not the website. Also, I got an email saying order through skype and others who skype getting a message saying order through email. The reason they want to talk on skype is because they don't want a long dialog back and forth on email. My first cube order was done all on email, because my account never got verified on their website. It all worked out. This time (30min after FB ad/release) I contacted them on the same email regarding the quad cube. They told me to talk to them on skype (to avoid dialog via email). I then told them what I wanted on skype, and they gave me a "template" (quantity, payment method, address and phone#) they wanted me to "fill in" and send them on email to get an exact quote. They then gave me a price based on the chinese btc price. 1 BTC = 7300 CNY = 1060USD/BTC. I paid, and they told me they will send my unit during the second week of May. Is it really that fishy? Am I being naive? xD Edit: I got fucked, didn't I? I meant this post.. anyone else had this issue with past purchases? the mark up for paying with btc and cny exchange rate? How have most paid for their miners? bank wire? BTC? I assumed BTC would be the quickest and most cost effective way to do business with them?

they are not switching to pos. that tactic is to scare away asic builders. If some A-hole asic builder makes a killer eth miner they would switch to pos. So unless the asic builder self mines on the sneak never announcing his miner Eth is not turning into a pos coin. I have no fear if they do that. The real fear is WTF is btc doing with segwit and bu as long as BTC has good value with most coins already mined and in a wallet alt coin will be fine. Now if btc drops to 500 usd alts will be eff'd
That's not true Phil, ethereum WILL go POS, just not as soon as originally planned. Casper is taking longer than expected, as was the case with each major update, but it will come for sure. Also its impossible to make an ASIC for ethereum owning to the ever increasing DAG, the closest thing to an ASIC that you can get is building MXM style cards into a large PCB, or do what Pandaminer did. And Btc dropping will not have nearly the same impact on Alts as Eth going POS would. All the Eth miners will shift to other alts jacking up difficulty manifolds for coins that have only a few thousand people mining them right now, and will reduce profits to half or less for all of us. I just pray that day comes AFTER I have ROI'd on all my gear you could be correct. But after I slept last night I thought about this post. I checked all my money tied up in gear/coins/hashing contract with bitmain. I decided I my ratios are wrong and I sold 2 coins for about 2450 usd. I still have btc held but my cash ratio is now more in line with what it should be. I hold BTC I hold ETH I hold ZEC I hold ZER coins are worth 6k I have 8k in gpu gear -------2.1k of this is off line due to arrive this week I have 6k in asic 256 gear I have 5k in cash so all my crypto related stuff is about 25k I have to keep ratios good. What does your GPU gear consist of? If you were buying a rig today what rig would you be trying to attain or would you build your own and if so using what?

Personally I will switch to Ethereum Classic, a crypto-currency I like a lot. However, most people will probable stop mining as there will not be a crypto-currency that propose as much security, safeness and peace of mind than Ethereum.
Do you believe ETC and ETH can both survive-- for how long? My understanding is that with both chain alive they inhibit each other to an extent, ETH fanatics have told me ETC has to die in order for ETH to be fully thriving?

they are 83 or 85% at best. I compared my panda psu to this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rosewill-TOKAMAK-1500W-Full-Modular-Power-Supply-80-PLUS-TITANIUM-Certified-/172455843785?watts were 80 different. but the psu costs more. 80 watts is 2 kwatts a day about 20 cents so in a year it is 73 dollars I can get the titanium for 250 usd on sale that is a lot more then the cheap oem. it would take 2 years or more to pay for itself there is a photo of a burnt oem psu.
Ya but it looked like he had it in a heat box with the picture I saw. Not standing up for the PSU, its not an EVGA or anything but it is decent for the $ for sure.
What PSU would you guys recommend in place of the PSU panda offers for better performance / similar price?

$400 for shipment?? Really?! I didn't know that
That has a to be a scam or otherwise they can fuckoff that's ridiculous these dont even include PSU correct? or do they?

What do you guys think of the stock B3+ PSU?
good enough? or buy something else?
Not really sure how important the PSU is in rigs like these.
Wondering on the thoughts on their PSU as well.

I've just got my Cube. Ordered and paid it last Thursday morning (European time), got it shipped on Friday, received it today (Monday afternoon). Got it unpacked, set-up and running in less than 15 minutes. Now hashing happily at 310 MH/s. I will share the unpacking and setting-up video, if anyone's interested.
Would love to see it! Thanks for sharing

Heard there was going to be 33 cubes released, but im still seeing the message about "inventory not enough". Any news?
Those have already come and gone, sold two days ago

Those are all some great points guys, so what is the next step for ETH - you think POS 2018 then or is POS truly an unrealistic dream
With all that hashing power dumped onto other Alts you think it has the potential to crash alt mining profitability as a whole or it will simply be a negative impact?
|
|
|
I don't mine eth.... I have always made more profit on other alts, not just the ones people swarm on. I also auto exchange my mined altcoins and always get paid and hold BTC.
So no need to think about eth for myself like everyone else; I have to consider the impact of the extra overflow of possible hashrate that will end up on the algo(s) I am currently mining.
What do you choose to focus on mining? What are your thoughts on potential overflow or hash rate on other alt coins then?
|
|
|
So I was talking to my buddy about this. When Ethereum ETH moves to POS this year.. where will you / everyone turn their miners? Will mining alt coins as a whole become significantly less profitable? What do you think and why?
