While Im agree to the first part of your post, still it's still best not to hold bitcoin for long term since there are lots of price movements that will happen while you hold your coins.

Long term holding can just applied to those person that really owns lots of coins. If you only have BTC1 for long term holding then you won't feel much the profits.

Yes, because both serve different purposes and both are essential if you want to be secured financially. As many would say, better to have a savings first before plunging into investing.
