It is a shame that I'm not what you consider to be an estabilished member.
I'd go all-in.

I'm 100% sure pirate is a scammer.
And what you're doing now is a desperate act of denial.

Proxy? Like... taking my bitcoins now and giving it to Matt should he win?
This is exactly the kind of behavior that got the whole community into trouble.

I'll proxy bets for 4% of your bet amount if you've already bet 250 BTC directly, or 6% otherwise. You'll need to send me the bet amount + fee in advance.

Do you think he'd risk the scammer tag for 250BTC? I wouldn't. I use this nick here and in other forums.

That said, I think it would only be fair if the proxy got the funds in advance from both Matthew and the bettor. One of the main reasons I haven't betted myself is that this is not the procedure for everybody. But now I'd really feel bad to take 250BTC from Matthew, I think he has gone insane. I might be tempted if he keeps it up a couple days more...

And I'll proxy your bets for free, but theymos is a pretty trustworthy guy. (Given that he's The forum admin and all...)

Proxy option 1: Send your money to me. If pirate doesn't default, I'll pass it on to MNW. Otherwise, I'll give you your money and your 100% ROI. This works if you have 0 rep.
Proxy option 2: Give me some reason to trust you. If you are a 3-post user with a solid OTC rep, sign a contract with GPG and I'll increase my bet to accommodate yours. This works if you have rep but don't trust me.

Quote
Never give your bitcoins to anyone, except when you buy something or exchange your btcs to fiat.
Problem is, MNW is the more trusted party. Unless you pay up-front, if you have 0 rep, then you've basically been given a "free option." Bullshit. That is why users need 250 posts to make bets in this thread.

Q: Why will you proxy my bets for free, you scammer?
A: Because I think this thread is good for the community. The more people that bet in this thread, the better off the community is, and I thus benefit indirectly as a member of the community.

I disagree. I think all this betting is divisive, and causing the Bitcoin community to fragment. If MNW loses and is forced to pay out it will be like crucifying a productive member of the community just to prove some point.

We need to remember that as a community our real enemies are forex fees, Paypal, inflation and wire transfer fees. We should be focusing on that, not on the ponzi/no ponzi squabbling. Bitcoin is not a HYIP and should not be associated with them to this degree.

I strongly disagree with you there. Matthew is involved in several projects, if he loses 2000+BTC (just with the bets thus far) it won't help his credibility nor his finances. I wish he didn't do it or at least that he limited it more. It would make the same point if he just risked 500 or 1000 BTC. Almost all "vocal" people against Pirateat40 have already placed their bets, what's the point now?

I'm going to have to call you out on this If you do not escrow.  What if you are just trying to teach everyone a lesson that they too, can be scammed.

You continue to post and yet have not responded.

Do you agree to escrow?

If you do not, I will assume you are scamming and go public on the forums.

I will make this exact bet with some pirate supporter with escrow to prove I am not dodging the bet.

This guy now wants to change his bet after the fact by adding escrow. I have escrowed privately with many people who I thought it was necessary, and many people have escrowed through third parties (I presume), but to demand it "or else I'm going public" -after- making a bet where escrow was not offered, is a bit tacky, and you not wanting to follow the OP when you place your bet will not change the legitimacy of your bet.

Thank you.
