How do I stake with my wallet? Should I leave my wallet open?

You can encrypt your wallet and open for minting only.
The coins are save then.
If you have a small wallet you have to be patient to get stake reward.
Energycoin build no coinage for security reasons, when the coins are mature you can get stake.

You need 2GB of RAM on your PC to run ENRG smooth.
I have an old Atom Netbook updated with 2 GB RAM running 24/7 only EnergyCoin and never crash.

How much GB Ram do you have on your PC?
Running other program or wallets?

It is a RasberryPI with several wallets preinstalled. You can run Bitcoin node and EnergyCoin on that platform.

So I was attempting to encrypt my wallet and it seems the wallet froze. So I had to force quit it. Now when I try to start the wallet I get the message "Wallet corrupted, unable to recover". Am I Fubared?

That sounds not good.
I hope you have a back up!
Try to start after you rename wallet.dat into savewallet.dat
A new wallet is created then and see if blockchain is loaded.
When the wallet is in sinq close and replace wallet.dat with savewallet.dat or better with copy of your bachup wallet.
If you use old version of blockchain use bootstrap.
You can also try import wallet.

Everybody make always back up of your wallet and store on external source!

We working on a White Paper but that is now only internal usage.
In general I can explain how you can make use our platform for finance solar projects.
We build www.energyexchange.eu on basis of www.counterparty.io
Check https://counterparty.io/docs/ what you can espect and see what tokens/assets are.
All the functionality of Counterparty comes avalable for EnergyParty.
Differance: for normal users XEP is not avalable in EnergyParty.
XEP is a special currency allows you to create assets/tokens. EnergyCoin Fountation (ECF)is the only future owner of XEP.
ECF wants a clean platform and they invested in the development of EnergyParty.
For Tokens/assets ECF issue must have a business model and contract agreement with ECF.
EnergyParty not  decentral organised at this moment, that can be changed in time.

Your business: Assume you have agreement  ECF
They send you XEP for creation of an asset and that asset is linked with the solar projects in the contract you have the ECF.
You customers can invest by an app that is linked to www.energyexchange.eu and apply a Know Your Customar (KYC) procedure.
They get an EnergyCoin wallet address and you link that wallet address to your administration for investment.
I presume that you want fait currency is the basis of the investment and they send the amount of fiat to the bank account. When the money is ther you send assest/tokens (the shares in solar project) to the investors.
You can automaticly send dividents to the owners of the assets or add services to the linked Energycoin address like link the smart meter of the investors and then you can allocate the produced energy to the investors.
Above is just an example and so much more is posible!
Keep in mind that all the assets/tokens on EnergyParty we must have real value basis and serve circulair economy.
