quick question; is there some kind of reward for running a node ? (apart from supporting the network ofcourse)
Assuming you mean 'masternodes', which we call servicenodes, then yes, but no details yet. And will you still on the first idea of the dynamic SPR needed to create one? (I guess yes as georgem was a big fan of this feature;) ) EDIT: also if I remember well on the first implementation of Mr Spread of "ServiceNode", it was possible to create various SN within the same wallet. If you can remove this feature : aka :1 server = one SN. This was only possible because those first test nodes did practically nothing (no CPU and no RAM requirement, nothing!). It's easy to install dozens of server nodes on one machine if they only run "empty" services. Once services actually need ressources this is going to change immediately and drastically.I expect that it will not be feasible to run more than one service node on one server (especially if it's a VPS)...

Farage? Joking, right?
Greens, mate. Vote to save all our daffodils.
I'm not joking, but you are ......... Sorry, mate - I can't resist reminding you, now Farage has been given the red card. LOL Sad day for UKIP, however they did pull in over 3 million votes! BTW, nice bounty on the bitcoin core implementation. Can you also start one for SN's?

I think it's better to make the limitation at a protocol level, IMHO it is just to have a healthier network. Otherwise you'll have a network with SN that will not be able to produce the asked service (or do it partially) ==> Unhappiness of the client of the service.

I think it's better to make the limitation at a protocol level, IMHO it is just to have a healthier network.
Score will be in the protocol. Amount of max allowed SN will also be controlled thru the protocol. Ofcourse there will be a limiting factor on the side of your server's hardware. Not well performing hardware will receive low score. Otherwise you'll have a network with SN that will not be able to produce the asked service (or do it partially) ==> Unhappiness of the client of the service.
There will always be good and bad SNs, and we will have a constant (deliberate) shutting down of SNs that don't behave well, (this could even include SNs that do everything right, but are nonetheless asked to improve themselves, because everybody else has improved...) This is not unhealthy for the system, in the contrary it is where our health will come from. If we constantly have nodes that are being shutdown and asked to register again when improved, it's like we keep our network fit by having it in a constant state of emergency. Netflix and chaos monkey comes to mind: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/07/netflix-attacks-own-network-with-chaos-monkey-and-now-you-can-too/

Might want to update the OP. It appears the only exchange that has SPR now is Bittrex. Not a good thing IMO.

GH is being cantankerous, the web GUI won't create a fork; apparently I already have a fork of bitcoin via my fork of ppcoin, sigh. The working repos might be better off located in the main Spreadcoin org section, a port to SpreadCoin Core is a big enough job that the issue tracker is likely to play a useful role. Cheers Graham

good point. If decentralization is our aim, the entirety of acquirable spr should not exist on a single exchange. I dig bittrex and all, but what happens to the state of the coin if the site gets compromised? perhaps we should actively work to get it listed on cryptsy?

I agree its bad to just be on one exchange but SPR "should" become more popular as more features are released. It won't be long until cryptsy picks us up, once we have a servicenode network that is!
