We'll have to release an update early next week.

Then I can get back to thinking about packaging for franchising.  The SPR approach to no fixed collateral might make that a little easier than I first thought.

No fixed collateral?

Here is the explanation that helped me.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks Wink

I sort of expected the vanitygen to be a bit of a gimmick but it could actually be quite useful.  Its nice to be able to instantly identify an altcoin address...

@georgem

Silly question about the Vanity Gen.

If we close the wallet and then restart it does the wallet pick back up the search at that point or does it restart the search all over?

Thanks

Whose up for creating a bounty for the first person to find Satoshi?

If enough people participate, we could get the bounty up to 100 BTC or 1,000 BTC, in SPR: hmm, we'll have to think about the mechanics of doing this and linking it to price rises, escrow, etc.

edit

@devs

How about 1% or even 5% of mining rewards go to a fund for first person to find the above?

That would be a good incentive to keep SPR nodes open  Grin

Vanity Gen is like throwing dice or a coin.

So it's all about probability, not about "work already done".

You just keep a valid chance for success if you don't stop playing.

Imagine you have thrown a dice 100 times and it STILL hasn't shown a "6"...

Now, the fallacy is to believe that the cube now really really "owes" you the "6" the next time you throw,
because throwing 100 times and NOT finding a 6 is so highly unlikely,
that throwing 101 times and FINDING a "6" must be extremely LIKELY, right?

But that's not how it works, the probability for the 101st throw to be a "6" is exactly the same it has been for all the previous 100 times: 1/6th

It's the same with the Vanity Gen: all your previous work does not make a certain result more "imminent".

Therefor "previous work" doesn't need to be picked back up, because it doesn't influence future success or probability.

This is also the reason I decided to just display a "50% chance in X" info, and not give people false hope by displaying some sort of "timer".

It's so funny seeing what patterns other people come up with:

Still looking, but I like it so far Cool

As its going to take a while ( Grin)

Come on chaps, lets all try to find Satoshi

Finding 12 char "Servicenodes" still makes you Master of the Universe,
15 char "SatoshiNakamoto" merely proves that you are in fact Satoshi himself.  Cheesy

Nice find BTW, best pattern yet.
Maybe, once I have the load/save JSON functionality ready, we can share our "best search patterns" lists.

Having 100s of people search for the same patterns will increase the chance that atleast one of us will be lucky with those top notch names. (good for publicity)

Last pass got hacked.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/114652/lastpass-gets-hacked-time-for-passwordless-logins

Time for, see below. (Look ma, no passwords).

Getting rid of credentials and replacing them with, effectively, 2FA.

How cool is that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QQ-Hi7npbM

Now, think about that for a minute.

Access your pc without touching a keyboard. Then a similar process again for accessing coins on your wallet.

This decentralized web will be epic, and safe from scammers.

We will be needing a count down timer for servicenode testing.

Any decent sites that produce gifs?

I'm not sure that works for this forum. Maybe George can use it for the website, up to him.

SPR is 1 on 29 July. Hopefully, we'll be in full testing mode by then - So I reckon a countdown timer for 29 July would be safe to use.
