Whats the easiest way to move all the contracts from my win 10 pc to a external drive on raspberry, I want to add more storage and I'm starting to get a lot of contracts that I don't want to lose but hate running a pc when I can run a pi using very little power

Sorry, that is not going to be possible. You can transfer a host from Win to Win or from Linux to Linux, but not across OSs, because you need the host folders to be on the exact same absolute paths in the new system (https://siawiki.tech/client/transferring_the_client_to_a_different_computer) and the paths in Win and Linux distros are different...

Consider instead a mini-computer, barebone or so, like an Intel NUC (around $150 + whatever you spend in RAM and internal storage). Also if you have a bit more of budget, HP Microservers of 8th generation can be found sometimes on the used market at $300 and they are fantastic hosts in my opinion: ECC RAM, decent CPU, <50W of overall power consume and 4 bays for disks.

Or if you want to use a RPi nevertheless, create a new host on it and retire gently the current one: select "stop accepting contracts" and wait until your current contracts expire (usually 3 months, but you can check the timeline of all of them on https://siastats.info/navigator on the third tab of the search box)

Sia built platforms are cheaper and more efficient than traditional cloud storage platforms by using encryption, cryptographic contracts, and repetitive backups. It's really great.

what do you think, can SIAcoin to replace the usual to us a cloud file storage? I have not tried to use, how convenient it is now and how much does it cost to store one terabyte?

It can change the storage industry, especially cloud-blockchain-based storage entirely.

Has mining with HDD are more profitable than mining with ASIC or GPUs?
Highly appreciate your hints because I have never mining with HDDs.

Depends...it uses less electricity, but for any noticeable gains you need 100TB or more, and 99.9% uptime or better

This calculator:

https://siasetup.info/tools/renting_calculator

estimates that renting 100TB over period of 12 months will get you around $1500

Man, that's a lot of hard drive space. I was hoping to make something like that with 1tb.

Think about it...why would someone rent your 1TB for a price 30 times bigger than you pay for disk? He could just go out and buy 100 disks
for the price he'd pay you over the 3 years and have all the redundancy and much more space Smiley

True but the trade off is that he wont have to manage all of that data, back it up and maintain uptime...

Kind of like renting a home is normally more expensive than just paying a mortgage but a lot of people rent to avoid the hassle, cost and commitment of ownership Smiley

I'd accept that hassle instead paying $1500 annually for 1TB, though Smiley

But times were different overall back then I believe. Right now it is really tough to not see any green numbers for several days in a row.

congrats on the partnership with ClearCenter, this is an outstanding news and a milestone in the history of Sia Tech
ClearCenter is one of the companies with best reputation on the world of IT and SMB

This kind of development, and future development will give more value to SIA than a new listing on exchanges

Wish all the best to Sia devs

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry.

my obelisk sc-1 is under water for mining sia-coin as it sits now ...and no shipping till middle of July 2018...thus

probably will stay in the box. Not a good start for their decentralized storage plans

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

that's just it...for some company that is gonna go head to head with Amazon cloud at 10c on the $1 for decentralized storage...by JULY

when the majority of ASIC's of all brands are in the world (10x what I think Sia-Tech expected)

well, folk are not just gonna flock to them without some hype and advertising

thus I expect...all that hardware will just mine or sit..driving price of sia-coin down....not making even their meager

attempt to get their supposed 'decentralized cloud storage' off the ground in any manner

without that the coin even more useless with the ASIC's pumping out the coin

not a good plan at all...amateur
