I am afraid your approach isn't anything good - but it says a lot about this market..
In ideal world  - bad projects would be abandoned by investors quickly,  and money would  flow to good one, but with all these fud and fake news you cannot be sure what is real and if bad info  are just  fud or project is really broken and what have to chance to succeed..

The hard fork news bring excitement in the market and i see a lot of volume boost in binance in Sia coin. I hope the SIA coin will regain its value in this altcoin bull run. Will binance support this hard fork and we do not have to do anything if our coins are stored at binance ?

Your coins will not be lost even if you did not upgrade the wallet. However in order to transfer the coins you will eventually have to upgrade the wallet.

If you don't upgrade in time, you will brick your consensus.db file. This is the file that syncs the blockchain to your computer, and you will have to completely re-sync it. You never lose your coins. Once you update to the new chain, your coins will be available to you again.

Downloaded Linux GUI (Sia-UI-v.1.5.4.AppImage). The signed file should have SHA256 Checksums  (Sia-v1.5.4-SHA256SUMS.txt.asc). But if I open the file with a text editor, it says SHA512 at the beginning

But not an easy game plan to understand what these whales want but at the moment there are a lot of noob investors who always buy on the top and than become the bag holder for years. These large coins are under huge demand so let's see in which direction market will move.
