Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

The first time I heard about Bitcoin (still being traded well below $1) I thought it was some kind of WoW gold. That seemed boring, so I did not investigate it further. Only at the second time I read some article about it (after the Mt Gox debacle), I realized that it was an entirely new concept - a currency with no central authority!

I sold around 150 bitcoins for $10 each to buy a few mining cards.   Cheesy

And I was going to buy myself another ivory back scratcher.  Sad

Worst mistake of my life?

Ignoring Bitcoin when I could've invested in the first year.

The worst mistake you have made with Bitcoin is to invest in B3 and lose it off the floor. Because I did not find out about the money.

I bought a bit of BTC when it was around $6500, but spread most it out into altcoins and lost a lot of value with the transaction costs. Even with the jumps in BTC, LTC and EOS I only barely reached my initial investment amount again a few days ago before the dip. Guess I won't spread my BTC again before making some gains first or holding a greater amount next time.

Ivory back scratcher would have been way better than the weed some of the people have ordered from dark market which never arrived!   Cheesy

I heard about Bitcoins back in 2012, when the US government raided a place that was selling drugs with Bitcoins, but did not look further into it. I wonder what would have happened if I did.

Mine was my past altcoin investment. I've engaged suddenlt in ICOs and altcoins without doing my research, and it ended badly for some. Spent a lot of bitcoins on them, too. Right now I still trade ICOs and altcoins, but with better caution and thorough research. Currently I'm into NEO, XRP, and an ICO called PagareX. No regrets, so far with em'
