India lifted the trophy by winning the series 4-1. NZ would be extremely disappointed that they have lost in their home ground.  Raydu was named Player of the match for making 90 runs and missed the well deserved century. Also Shami was named Player of the series.

India recently played well in Australia and they were favorite in NewZealand series also. The conditions were almost similar in australia and newzealand so india didn't have to work hard in order to get used to the conditions.
The recent performance will help in the upcoming world cup this year.

Hehe didn't really know the thread existed , well since this thread covers almost everything related to cricket matches , I don't go anywhere else but well it's nice to have a separate thread for only T20 discussions though , will hop on there later when I talk about T20.

Btw looks like my spare bucks on SL goes to vain.

Trouble continues as as NZ have lost 2 more wickets and now they are 162/6. NZ still require 91 runs and 4 wickets in hand. Neesham is batting at 32 and last ray of hope for NZ. If he gets out quickly probably NZ might end this match on a losing note and then losing the series by 4-1.

The way India started I never expected them to put 150 runs on the board as they lost all the major players without even troubling the score. Rayudu played an important innings to lift the team and pandey put the finishing touches and an incredible win for India as they bowled New Zealand out. If they continue to play like this they will win the world cup.

Even after the completion of Indian innings I found the score to be easily beaten by the New Zealand as it is their home ground. I believed New Zealand have come back to form with the last match victory, but Indian bowlers were quite brilliant to contribute good without letting the players build a strong partnership.

Momentum plays a huge role in sports and right now India have it after the series win over Australia in all forms of the game they are high on confidence and that is why we are seeing the Indian team win big matches even though New Zealand bounced back in the 4th ODI. This Indian team reminds me of the Australian team of the 90's early 2000's they don't look like getting beat and no team fears them playing away from home. India in my opinion is the team to beat in this years World Cup and good luck to the teams that have to play them on home soil this year once the Indian summer starts.

Sri Lanka lost eventually. Australia won by 366 runs. The Sri Lankan could not even stand a chance in the 2nd innings. They lost all their wicket only to score 149. This is a bad tour for them.

About the T20 section, I thought to have a separate section for this format would be nice especially when the IPL will start.

SL will be highly demotivated the way they are playing the matches and losing it. Losing the match by 366 runs is a big margin and they where never close to match the OZ team. With this performance they will need to make many changes or boost their players to play and win the matches in the world cup.

Sri Lanka indeed needs some psychological therapy. I am looking at their recent stats for both ODI and test in espncricinfo. And this is what I found:

2 test with Ozs: 2 - 0 whitewash
Only T20 with NZ: Lost
3 ODI with NZ: Lost 3 - 0 whitewash
2 test with NZ: 2 - 0 whitewash

Such a shame, they were defeated as a team in all departments. Their performance getting worse day to day but seems like couldn't get picked up any clue to overcome and improve their innings. Looking forward Sri Lanka how hard they fight to win matches against South Africa. Will they come back really strong in South Africa as Dinesh Chadimal claiming.

Like I said in my previous post, Sri Lanka needs special psychological attention. They lost the track and possibly believe that they can win. From last several series they have not won any match at all which is a shame.

I do agree that they need to do something about this. but they fought well in NZ's tour in pieces (Test-ODI) before losing. the more disappointing result was against England at their own home soil.

They need to improve their domestic cricket. its one of the worst when compared with other teams. they are not producing good player because of this and financial condition of Board not helping at all.

Certainly , otherwise this thread would be flooded with all matches ( including other international matches ) . I feel like that thread will get active once IPL starts .

I remember the Sri Lanka in 1996 and later few years. In the world cup Arjuna Ranatunga was their captain. He was such a cool guy with his team. I never seen him to feel pressure in any situation. Always he found a way to win. May be Sri Lanka need a good captain.

Srilanka is in lack of international standards players. I can barely see someone is really playing good. Most of their player are quite young and not experienced. I can see a bad world cup for Srilanka while they had good position since the 2007 world cup. I don't see a batsman like Sanggakara, Srilanka will miss him for some more years. It is hard to get a player like him.

You made me remember the golden days of Srilankan cricket when we had such world class players in Srilanka team.

Well, it is hard to get the bowler like Muttiah Muralitharan again as he was a legend and he will be remembered in golden words through out the cricket history.

I would like to add Kulasekara too to that list , now that's the team with high caliber and could defeat anyone on any given day .

It happens actually , all national teams struggles at one point but the important thing is how they get back . Look at Australia ,they used to be one of the best teams across all formats but now , not much .
