What is going on? The 'maintenance' of 24 hours on Bittrex is turning into 2 days now?? This is not looking good. I also had 100 Shift mined from a pool sent to Bittrex...they aren't in the pool, and they aren't in Bittrex....but it shows they were sent somewhere...wonder where?? I think if the team doesn't get this under way, selling will start...also, I'm wondering if this is not just an issue with Shift, but with Bittrex..as Krypton has been down too for the same amount of time...I have 'lost coins' in no man's land supposed to be in Bittrex from a pool there too...nothing..nowhere...not on the pool, or Bittrex...thank goodness, not many.

the coins aren't missing, when Bittrex is done their maintenance the coins will show up in your Bittrex wallet until then it'll show your old balance, which seems to be pretty standard, but then again you never know, I haven't got a clue what the hang up is usually it's a few hours, but Krypton too? odd. but they did tweet that it would be up to 24h.

I stopped mining both Shift and Krypton...and am thinking the curious silence of Bittrex is not a good sign at all.

Hi Atomjuice,

user balances on Bittrex are in order, this has nothing to do with the exchange or any missing coins.

It is only a measure taken due to the events that happened on Shift and Krypton. We can't share any knowledge we have on the situation with KR as it is their business, but I can guarantee your SHIFT are safe on Bittrex, if you sent them there. Our chain is moving as it should be and Bittrex's audit system does not reveal any missing balances.

Mining to an exchange address is generally not a good idea, maybe you can switch to a pool or preferably solo mining in the meantime.

If you need help setting up a solo mining operation please get in touch on Slack.

If you follow Shift's github repo (https://github.com/shiftcurrency/shift), it clear that the developers are making an effort to keep up to date with relevant patches in the Ethereum code.

The state of other coins is possible to determine if you check their source repositories... For coins that follow Ethereum's version numbers scheme, comparing that to Ethereum's recent stable version could be a good gauge of efforts to maintain the code. (for example the output of admin.nodeInfo )

Reminder:

Soon -probably before the end of this week-, we'll be starting a viral game on Twitter with a lot of SHIFT to win, so if you intend to play, make sure you have an account. The more followers you have, the better...

and? anything happened or it is just idle talk?

Sorry, as you can guess, recent events have disrupted our planned operations, but it's coming, don't worry. Probably in the next 2-3 days.

Shift allows you to make DApps that are compatible with Ethereum so they can be easily ported both ways, but also allows you to host them in a decentralized manner, thanks to Phantom.

That means, let's say you want to create a casino dapp for example, that's just an example, I don't specifically encourage anyone to do that, but it's possible... And in that case, you don't have all the hurdles you would have to create a casino in real life.

Now cryptocurrencies are a grey area in most countries and are not considered as money in most, so it's a sensitive topic I admit and laws might evolve, it's another topic though...

In addition, if you wish your players to easily find your casino, you can create a domain name like casino.shift for a small fee.

You may think these features are not available yet? Wrong! You can do that right now! (domains are still in alpha phase though, and will be reset once released)

Hi D-Lux,

Lisk is a blockchain network just like Ethereum that gives developers the tools needed to create D-APPS
in several programming languages. Both Lisk and Ethereum are more or less "just" developing the basic
framework to give developers a possibility to write, test and deploy applications on the blockchain.

Shift is a fork of Ethereum (the first of its kind, launched in August 2015). We offer all the functionality
from Ethereum and full D-APP compatibility to it. Our flagshipp application is decentralized Internet, in
its mature state complete with servers, search engines, forums, email and more (compare to Maidsafe's
Safe Network).

There is much more to Shift than that, so I suggest you join our Slack if you're interested to know
more about us and our community.

Yes, because website will be copied across the network and you cannot take it down unless you switch off all the computers on the network.

Even if someone would try to use police against all of the users lets say 'participating in criminal activity', as far as I'm aware technology used in Phantom allows to use it with Tor.
If that is true then you would have let's say 100 hosts running via Tor with the same copy of all the websites. Try to take down that Wink

bbcoin's explanation is correct. Phantom provides fully meshed, distributed serving of sites and content,
meaning there is no centralized webspace provider that could be censored in order to remove content
from the network.

We don't endorse any unlawful activity, but in many cases, e.g. freedom of speech, users will move in a
grey area so they have to be aware that Phantom will not provide any anonymity better than TOR.

Please explain how exactly your decentralized hosting work? Do miners host content and earn fees for serving? Where exactly sites are stored? in SHF blockchain? How can i guatrantee that my site won't be deleted? Is your solution similar to SiaCoin hosting idea but build on top of SHF network?

Miners do not host data by default, they "only" secure the blockchain and validate transactions. They participate in
Phantom when they mine contracts, e.g. for domains.

In principal every user of Phantom can contribute to the network by opening a specific port and serving data. The
content is located in a file on a peer's computer. Phantom is currently not intended to be a solution for storing large
quantities of data like SIA or IPFS.
We focus on user generated content like blogs, forums or personal websites of any kind, combined with the ability
to integrate blockchain specific features like direct payments or decentralized applications, all with the benefit of
an immutable server network.

As development progresses, we will introduce a distributed node system allowing users to participate in a reward
based program that is, in essence, similar to SIA or DASH: if you set up a node on our network and do certain jobs
(for example serve content to peers) we will reward you with a payment.

You can guarantee your site will not be deleted by the very nature of Phantom, your site is everywhere and nowhere
(fully meshed). In a very basic way you could say everyone hosts everything (with exceptions like filters or flags
that will be introduced at some point). If one, two or a hundred hosts fail the remaining hosts will still have a backup
of your site and spread that to new visitors and other nodes. Your site will stay online until the last peer serving it is
gone.

When you publish a site it is tied to your private key, which means only you can modify the content or reset it by
publishing an empty site.

Hi everyone,

we're seeing a lot of interest from miners and hashrate is constantly growing.

Currently the nethash is concentrating on MinersZone and ShiftPool so I'd like to advise any newcomers to check out BitCause and 4Miners, both currently running at 0% pool fees.

Hello,
Does anyone can guide me how to use the wallet on osx? Currently phantom gshift is already running, but i couldn't find any shortcut or link for the wallet.
Appreciate for any help.
Thank You.

Hi Thorjeus,

do you mean the Phantom wallet or the GShift CLI client? What exactly did you download?

I see you're on Slack already so let us know when you're around and we'll walk you through it!

Is there a maximum amount of coins that will be mined/produced? Or has that yet to be determined?
