Defeating by 2 goals at home against a bottom team is not a normal result in my opinion, Fiorentina's performance was not as usual in this match, I don't think it was Empoli's performance that improved but it was Fiorentina's game that was so bad in this match that they had to accept a humiliating defeat in front of his own supporters.

Calling Empoli's performance excellent is kind of misleading, but they have done their very best to win this game, which was to make use of their few chances and defend as fiercely as they can. By their own standards I guess you could call the performance excellent, I agree.

But what is more important is that Fiorentina was really bad. It's often easy to say that the winning team played excellent because they won. Whereas when much weaker teams win against the favorite, it is often based on an underperformance by the favorite and the inability to play goal-oriented and exploit their advantage in quality.
