It was against a Manchester City with a highly rotated lineup though.    Otherwise I wouldn't expect Milan to be able to beat them. But of course I also admired Colombo's performance there, 2 goals. 

He has been loaned by Milan so far and he is a returnee for now. I assume he is doing his best to prove himself to the team to stay and fight for his place. Especially after Giroud has left, I think it is more possible.

Who knows maybe Fonseca might want to try him beside Morata as well. In this game he played as the lone CF and did a great work!

This match does not prove who is stronger for next season. but it is quite fun to see these two strong teams face off in a friendly match. And yes, for newly brought in players, pre-season matches are very important. To make them adapt more quickly to live matches. AC Milan has proven that they are indeed a strong team that is ready to face the upcoming season. And I think AC Milan has brought in the right players. And AC Milan's new coach, Paulo Fonseca, also seems reliable. But sometimes some clubs look good in pre-season but then they become below expectations once the season starts. Hull City itself could actually be easily defeated if all the opportunities that Fiorentina have can be utilized properly, but unfortunately this match was quite boring and Fiorentina did not play as expected.
If in the future they are still the same, then the possibility for this pre-season is disappointment for the fans because in 4 matches they have only been able to win once, that was only in the first match.
I predict that Fiorentina can at least win the match by scoring 3 to 4 goals but that is just too high an expectation.

I actually see something else from a match like this and maybe both teams want to play it safe without harming their players with unexpected events. It would be very dangerous if a player gets injured and the season will soon start for each league, so this is nothing more than a formality match for both teams.

Fiorentina last season was so far from expectations and next season they certainly don't want that to happen again and they can emphasize to their players to be more focused in the upcoming Serie A match. Maybe not many people have paid attention to Napoli in the pre-season matches they have played. And I was the same, namely not paying much attention to Napoli in the pre-season matches they were playing. Pre-season matches do not have any effect on the team in measuring strength but for individual players it is quite important especially for new players of course this can increase the players' confidence to face the match in the competition later.
I don't think AC Milan's victory over Man City is too much but I am quite amazed to see AC Milan's new players who can immediately adapt quickly with the team and make contributions, maybe that is a positive side that AC Milan gets in this pre-season match.

We have seen City not have great season for friendlies, does that mean that City will be bad this season? Of course not, they are going to be pretty good and we are going to see them go for a fifth in a row title as well, likely to get it too unless something unexpected happens. What that means, if City not being bad is a case after the friendly, then Milan not being awesome is the key on the other side as well. Don't get me wrong they are not that terrible, they can still do fine, I am just saying that we are not seeing anything that would be getting too bad of a result.

It has to be something that will take a while, so we should be considering how it could really impact Milans future, if they are doing fine now, that means that they are not in big trouble, like they are not missing any obvious positions, and they may do fine during the league.

We do not know how Inter will react to owner change, and Juventus with a new manager and a new system and not as good last year, so Milan may have a slight chance, but I am not saying they will do anything. My guess is that top three finish would be likely result once again, and that's not too bad, another UCL season for them, a good result.

The actual result can grow the players' mentality but indeed when they win with the capacity of the coach and players who are much better than the opponent I think it will only be impressed in the end because after all their level is still higher even though last season's performance was not too good.

There are many reasons why I don't rate preseason games and the results that comes from them and that's why I'll always be more interested in the individual brilliance and performance of players during preseason friendly games than the result of the game. Without taking anything away from AC Milan, we know that they'll hardly get a result against Pep Guardiola Manchester City should the two clubs meet in a competitive game. AC Milan have been impressive in the preseason games but they'll have to reciprocate those good results when the season kicks off for me to consider them a strong contender for major titles next season. The new players at the club are adapting very well to the club manager's style of play which I think is very impressive of them. We'll see what the new season holds for AC Milan when it kicks off
