In the play-off game for the Bundesliga, I bet on the victory of the hosts. FC Koeln is fighting bravely to stay in the league, in recent games they made a lot of points and eventually overtook Werder Bremen in the table. The guests, on the contrary, lost the last two matches in the 2nd Bundesliga and missed a chance for direct promotion. I believe that they will not be up to the task today either.

I agree with that prediction. Usually the team of the second division has the advantage that the momentum is on their side because they managed to play a good season and reach position 3 of the league and the team of the bundesliga is usually in a more negative mood after a pretty bad season. This time it is the other way around. FC Koln managed to reach this play off games with 3 wins out of the last 6 matches on a late goal in the very last match of the season so they are happy to even be in that match. Kiel, on the other hand, looked for a long time as if they were going straight to the bundesliga until they lost their last two matches.
So FC Koln is the clear favorite for me in these 2 games.

They finished 2nd in the Bundesliga in 3rd place.  I think it will be a play-off game in which Köln will prevail.  We can talk about Holstein having 3 wins and 2 defeats in their last 5 matches.  Still, I think Köln has a stronger squad.

It's good to see new teams reaching the top league, especially if two long-standing teams made their best to ruin their glory. Welcome to the new teams and hopefully Werder and Schalke 04 can be re-founded from the ground up. Nothing lasts forever, imagine Bayern becoming like Schalke one day...who knows.

The current Schalke wouldn't make it to 1.bundesliga next season, sitting in mid table will be their best achievement imo. Bremen might do it. Both teams have to reconfigure their strategy, get new players and so on...
Becoming like Schalke for current top teams is possible (Leverkusen, M'Gladbach...), it doesn't require a lot of efforts to make the team play crap but building a strong team is way harder. For Bayern, being like Schalke is unimaginable

It feels great to see new faces in the Bundesliga but it is also sad to see an established team for more than decades getting relegated like that, In my opinion, we can not blame only the management for not doing their best but the players as well if they don't show their utmost spirits in the game and there are no diligent players to be trained they can not make it on the top, We can say that Schalke didn't do their best I think they are it is just out of luck that they didn't make a big impact with the result of their hard work It is not really enough.

Maybe some strong teams would surely end up like them who knows in the future.

i believe that holstein kiel has earned and deserved promotion. they are once again playing a great season and have also reached the semifinals of the dfb-cup.
especially since this club would be the first from this region to play in the 1. bundesliga.

I wish it for Holstein Kiel that they win the relegation. And in the past they have often won when nobody expected them to. But due to the many games which they have played within the last 8 weeks it is more realistic that Koeln stays in the 1. Bundesliga.

Kiel played a good season, but my opinion is that the class difference between Bendesliga 1 and Ligue 2 is very big. In this confrontation, I would give preference to Cologne. The only thing I knew about Kiel is that they kicked Bayern from DFB-Pokal before losing with 5 goals vs Dortmund.
I didn't pay attention about the timing of the game but seeing the final score: Koln 0 - 1 Kiel. Well, Koln will have huge pressures this Saturday since they are 1 step closer to being relegated..

The only thing I knew about Kiel is that they kicked Bayern from DFB-Pokal before losing with 5 goals vs Dortmund.

Considering that FC Koln can win in its last match in the Bundesliga against Schalke, then I think a 0-1 defeat in the first leg still cannot guarantee FC Koln being relegated. There is still a second leg which I think FC Koln still has the ability to bounce back so yes, however this is a second chance that must be taken advantage of for FC Koln to survive in the Bundesliga next season.

I actually expected Köln to win their match today against Holstein in the Relegation play-off, but it seems Holstein really want to play in the Bundesliga next season. Lorenz got into the game and scored a goal 59 minutes into the second half. He indeed saved Holstein from drawing the match today.
Köln remaining in the Bundesliga, depends on them winning the second leg with about 2-0 and above.
If Holstein wins or draw the second leg, they will surely get their first promotion to the Bundesliga, it won't also be easy for Holstein to beat Köln in the second leg.

@Soonandwaiteis they might not be one of the best team but they do have the potential, but sadly this season they were unable to show it. Furthermore it’s quite possible that next year we may see them in a different avatar, because I’m sure they wouldn’t want to be any where near the relegation zone when the new season starts.

They playing well and good but this means not that they playing the best they can .
Also they got unlucky a bit a few times and other teams playing also an nice football.
The next thing is if Holstein Kiel will make it really to the first League there will be hard times coming to them.

Heavy lost from Cologne the other day. While today inglostadt destroyed Osnabruck at home with a big win of 3-0 . This gives them amazing advantage in the rematch and probobly go to the bundesliga 2

With the score today, Inglostadt have more advantage from winning the first leg. They however won Osnabruck today in their home match with a 3-0 score, winning in both halves. All they need is a win/draw in the second leg, to get promoted to the Bundesliga 2, and surely play in the Bundesliga 2 next season.

Osnabruck have to beat Inglostadt with 4-0 in their second leg in order to escape been relegated from the  Bundesliga 2. I believe, they are already weakened by today's match, winning the second leg won't be easy for them.
