After an embarassing loss to Flamengo U-20, Leverkusen bounced back with a win over Bochum (2-0) and another one (2-1) over Dutch Fortuna Sittard last Friday. Those wins might not have been very convincing, especially given bth teams are much lower rated than Bayer, but a win is a win.
Leverkusen have 2 more friendlies to play before the season starts. The first one is against Pisa, who got promoted to Seria A this season. The other one is against Chelsea, who recently lifted th FIFA Club World Cup after defeating PSG in the final. The latter game will be a real test and a good indication of what can we expect from Leverkusen in the upcoming season.

TBH, it was a very bad match for Leverkusen that they were defeated with 5 goals against Flamengo U-20. I know it was a friendly match only, but no one expected a too bad performance done by Leverkusen in the match. In other friendly matches, Leverkusen also couldn't win with convincing scores. Winning with 2 goals only against Bochum and Fortuna Sittard, indicated Leverkusen attackers not strong enough. They may also win with a narrow score again in the next match against Pisa. And I doubt they can win against Chelsea. I even suspect Chelsea will score many goals.  

Meanwhile, Bayern have won their first friendly against Olympique Lyon 2-1.

Bayern played quite well against Olympique Lyon. I know Bayern still didn't play with their full main players. They may prepare for their best lineup on the next match against Tottenham. Bayern vs Tottenham will be an interesting match. Both teams probably will test their strength before the new season starts in the next few days.

Alright, but why would Ten Hag agree to take a job to a club he wouldn't be getting the funds to sign some of the fine players into his team but rather the club management be selling off the good players he could use for the season to build a strong competitive team. If Ten Hag has to lead another bad season with Leverkusen after leaving United with a bad record it will be a dent to his profile in getting a bigger job after Leverkusen's, it is something he should know.

Ten Hag is certainly taking a gamble with his career by accepting Leverkusen's offer, having just failed as manager of Manchester United and subsequently moved to Leverkusen, while they are also selling key players. I really don't like the fact that too many forget how much of a sound manager Erik ten Hag was with Ajax. The task that comes with being a Manchester United fan is just too much. Things didn’t go as planned and that part of life but, I will never use that to judge him ahead of the new season. He is the same man that knocked out Real Madrid in the Champions League Competition with is Ajax. Sometimes staying very long without a job at hand might ruin some coaches reputation, I think that’s the case if Ten Hag, he doesn’t wants to stay long without him managing a big team, and Leverkusen is indeed a big team that has done well in the Bundesliga in the past two season under Xavi Alonso; therefore, since Alonso can be able to build the team from scratch, he should also do that, it’s all a matter of time.

Letting all the key players leave the club is not proper; the Leverkusen management and sporting directors didn’t make the right decision, they were expecting to get new players that can replace these players as quick as possible not knowing that even if they get players in their respective position, it will take them time to adapt to the team, and it will affect the team for a while.
However, I still trust Ten Hag, he might come up with something surprising, even though I don’t expect much from him due to the players left for him in his squad.

Nowadays football is not about winning. The business side is more important. I think winning is now a second choice. I think every fan wants to win but sometimes they don't think about how the club can turn around the finances and make a profit so that the club can survive for a long time. So it seems Leverkusenin is copying Dortmund style of doing smart business by selling players and bringing in new young talent.

But this must be a big problem for Ten Hag as he is not getting the best players, even though he is given money to spend on new players. I'm sure Ten Hag doesn't want all of his past season's stars to leave. This is because as he once said, he's already lost a lot of the best players who left and he doesn't want anyone to leave again. But the management seems to say otherwise.

The sporting directors must be aware of all what is happening, and they might be doing it for the benefit of the team which we don’t know for now. It's real disappointment for Bayer Leverkusen to be beaten by Flamengo U20 team and the fact that they conceded 5 goals to them made it looked even bad. Let's just believe it's just a friendly and the pre season that's why they were not moved to perform well. We will see how they perform in their next game because I am also not convinced with the wins. I believe they would have trained harder and learn from their mistakes by now and so they should be ready for the real test when they face Chelsea.
It won't be an easy game for them at all but I am sure Chelsea won't use their regular starters in the match so it shouldn't be that difficult for them.

Preseason games has got almost no effect on the big teams and they know and abide by that, mostly smaller teams factor on that to build their confidence one which bigger teams do not really need except to teat their tactical prowess of which in such case winning is neve the gaol and so big teams make sure not to risk their key player in such situations that they get the likelihood of injuries which will den affect the team when the actual season begins. Leverkusen is putting in all of those efforts courtesy of their coach almost same pattern when he was at United.

I doubt that Bayern Leverkusen will sell their key players or not find replacements if Xabi Alonso was still the coach. The club started respecting Xabi Alonso after he flawlessly won the Bundesliga so if he had in mind to continue with the club, they would have listened to any decision he chooses for the team. I don't know how Eric Ten Hag will survive with the current squad of Bayern Leverkusen, but it wouldn't be easy for him and if he doesn't perform as expected he should not be blamed because we all have already seen that the team lack quality players right now, even the most experienced coach can still find it difficult to manage such a team. Besides when an experienced coach wants to go to a new team, he signs players he likes to join him over there just to increase his chances of being successful, but Eric Ten Hag moved in without the team given him that privilege of getting any player he wants.

Of course, brother, Minute is a great team. They do not sell their talented players consistently, but they keep them. Bayern Munich is currently spending money to keep good players in their team and to win the title during the season. And during the preseason there is no much difference with just playing when the main season starts,  then we are going to know who is who because something is already at stake so that is why the commitment is always serious,  you won't blame Leverkusen because ten Hag already knows that is job is at stake so he will have to do everything possible to protect is job so you won't blame Leverkusen for been serious. And Leverkusen is doing everything possible to stay stand by and face what ever the challenges might be coming. And I love how they are trying to build a new squad I hope what they are about to do will favour them. So this is more reason why if Ten Hag is able to pull this off then it's going to be supper.
