@Quantumgravity, you're making a very good suggestion and you got my vote. Coin control is vital for any good alt coin.  Now I'm not saying Swing isn't good, it is actually very good, but adding coin control to the wallet as a feature and proper wallet screen resizing would make it even better. These are features that people nowadays expect modern alt coins to have from the get go, especially for POS.

The total amount of Swing coins in circulation is very low, we're still in the beginning stages of the coin so implementing these new features now is the best time to do it.

Swing is very cheap on Bittrex right now and it's very affordable to own a nice percentage of the total coins in existence.  Grab some more before it goes to the moon.

Well, Swing already has coin control in the wallet. I am talking about upgrading it to give the user access to more data.

Wow ..How did you get so much optimism, I only see the price easy to slip down, with short-term rebound.

Look at the distribution on bittrex. I have a feeling the price is going to rise soon...

It should be interesting to watch bittrex in the coming weeks. There is usually only one reason that one or two people suppress the price and buy up all the supply and then keep it on an exchange when they could be staking like mad... Get ready for a pump, Swingers! The transparency of Bittrex is what makes it one of the top tier exchanges. I love that you can see how many coins is in each account.

This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on December 4th unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.2 BTC.

I don't think that will be a problem. Could use more buy support though.

What is the conclusion? Time to buy more ridiculously cheap coins.

We've upgraded our www.zpool.ca servers and it seems this may have helped with the forking issues. Mining pretty good the past 24 hours without issues.

Cheers

Good to hear. Sorry for the lack of posts been on a thanksgiving trip. It's probably worth mentioning the seed node runs on Ubuntu 14.04 x64. I would expect wallets running on the same operating system likely won't have forking troubles.

While I've been gone I've been touching base with other devs to get their opinions on the state of swing and update options. Will try to keep you guys in the loop. Trekking back to the home office now.

Hope everyone who does thanksgiving had a nice one.

Well, 24 hours mining Swing with one Antminer S3 for a total of 45 coins.. worth a grand total of $0.37 AUD (australian dollars).

S3 uses 360 watts, electricity costs 22c/kWhr so i nominally used $1.90 with of power- but as I run my miners on solar PV that I otherwise sell to the grid at 1.3c/kWhr it didn't cost me much.

But the point is: how can people be attracted to this coin? Total coins created to date..converted to AUD means I could buy the lot for about $4k. Is this really just the very very beginning of the coin.. or is it going to follow the well trodden path to obscurity along with TIT coin etc..?

I'm happy to run a core and throw a miner onto it to help.. I just would like to know am i missing something about the coin and its prospects?

Remember that when mining Swing the POW reward is not only based on the last 3 digits of the block number the POS reward is based on, but also the multiplier which is based on a 10000 block cycle. So you might want to wait a couple thousand blocks before mining if you are worried about getting the best ROI.

Example: for block 83801 the POS reward would be 8.01 Swing, the POW reward would be 2.40 Swing (POS reward * multiplier = POW reward).

Looking at the trading and buy support on exchanges I have some concerns about its future.
I'm top ten on the list staking like a beast, have in the past months sold some off and am well in profit.
What I'm trying to say is that, if some interest for the coin can't be whipped up, or a use of some kind for it, I see a problem.

We will keep progressing as a community however we can. I'm focused more on upgrading the core right now, but I'm open to any ideas.

Glad to hear you are "well in profit" though. Shouldn't be too bad for you if it takes us some time to get our footing.
There are no plans to abandon ship (Even with how much core updates stress me the hell out).

I'd make some volume for us if I could but I'm down to .005 BTC after buying that chart on TrySwing.com. Cost me something like 0.95, I didn't get as much support paying for it as i had hoped. So I can't do much volume generation for you guys. That's up to all of you.

On a side note, I'm thinking about adding more seed nodes. If you want your nodes IP to be hardcoded (or something similar) tell me. Would be good to get a couple pools doing this.

Quick status report.

I've been taking some time to research into the best ways to go about this upcoming core upgrade. I've spoken with a few other devs about the issues we are looking to upgrade and gotten some valuable input and suggestions on alternate solutions. I'm meeting in person this week with an intelligent coder friend of mine who is familiar with the issues we're facing. We plan to take a deeper look at the code itself and potentially come up with the proposed patch. Along with this I'm factoring in some minor core upgrades to be packaged into the update (checkpoints, seed node update, protocol versioning, etc.. etc..).

In addition I've been looking into getting more devs on the swing team. The other coin devs I've spoken with have expressed an interest in helping but had to keep focus on their own projects. One of them has expressed an interest in some cross marketing down the road. The dev I'm meeting with is busy chasing his phd, but has expressed a willingness to work on the code with me and get involved to an extent.

Trying to make sure this is done right rather than rushing a quick patch.

Will keep you all updated.
