A single Batch 1 miner stopped responding.
Did a power reset using the ap7911 PDU remotely.
All fine now.
Saved me a trip to the datacenter.

Did anyone try to power an Antminer S7 (5,06TH/s) with a EVGA SuperNova 1300 G2 PSU (http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1300-XR) ? Can this work?

I'm sure it will work, but you want to be at 80% of the max rating of the PSU for safety.
That is what I do.
I think 5.06 is 1300 watts.

I use two of those PSU's for the S7 and S5 together no problems but if I were just to run the S7 alone I would use two of them trust me.

careful abt UC/OC ... many do not have enuff knowledge or experience to do it.
1st of all the PSU MUST be able to supply sufficient voltage if one wanna OC or the voltage to be lowered if want to UC.
i see most of the guys here are using ATX PSU which does NOT provide enuff voltage even to run at stock freq's.
i think 12V + 5% is "Recommended" ?
ATX PSU can hardly provide 12V with loads.
again it VOIDS warranty.
get a good reliable PSU with adjustable voltage after the warranty expires then come back here & continue discussing UC/OC.
ah ha, also pcie cables that are being used. most are 18 awg. if 1 can afford to buy an s7 at such price, why is it that difficult to get a reliable PSU + good quality cables ?
i may sound like an a*s here now but just sharing & hopefully no one comes & say i shouldn't have done that & now my miner is burnt or exploded or my house caught fire etc.
have fun with the miners. just sharing my 2 sat's worth opinion.

There should be no problem in lowering the frequency a bit.  a good atx psu like the 1600w g2 evga is sufficient.  provided cables should be good.  in any case, feel cables for heat to be sure.  The batch 8 voltage is :  4. Rated Voltage: 11.60 ~13.00V according to specs, but its true earlier batches were 12v or something like that.

Kind of off topic but has Bitmains minerlink ever worked?  Is it kind of an abandoned project or what?

i tried setting it up but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any other way to manage multiple antminers efficiently ?

Switched PDU(s) and Teamviewer with an extra computer on premise is an easy way.

There is nothing wrong with the September firmware.  The October firmware SUPPOSEDLY fixed the issue with rigs burning up after internet loss.  I've seen two people in the forum who have had their units replaced because of burning up after losing interest and they had the October firmware.  One of them lost 3 rigs due to burning up after internet loss.

Don't believe the hype about the October firmware.  It does not fix that issue. ...
I wonder who told you this fact that it solves internet loss issue?  At least October firmware protects of fan's malfunction and stops hashing to prevent overheat. Try to disconnect one fan during running and you will see result - it will stop hashing. Anyway this is your own risk and I can't guarantee anything to you as I am not manufacturer.

Go with teamviewer it woks very nicely.  If you have a iphone or android smart phone it does have apps, where you can log into computer from phone.  This is a very nice thing when on the go.

As far as minerlink I don't think it ever turned into anything.  I think they have a IP scanner up on that site.. but nothing useful as far as controlling machines.

Here is only one example [from page 199] of several listed in the forum [I'm not going to take the time to look up the others on other pages in the forum.]:

Ok, I had possible short internet blackout or disturbance (was not at home).
came back to observe the following:

One batch 2 miner (9/15 system) fully recovered by itself.
Second batch 2 miner (10/23 system) did not recover, both fans were rotating, but not full tilt, air was coming out hot and miner was making a solid noise (not periodic, but continuous beeping); it was obviously not mining and did not recover the internet connection. I switched it off, let it sit for 5-10min with an external fan blowing air toward intake. Once air was coming out ~ambient, I switched the PSU back on and miner recovered internet and is hashing.

Conclusions:
in this batch 2 (updated to October system), fans were NOT rotating at high speed after internet loss and miner did not recover by itself upon internet restoration, but miner with 9/15 system did (the opposite of what you would be expecting).
The good news is that it did not burn itself either.

I KNOW Biodom is NOT making this up.  His internet blackout was only a short time.  How long is short?  I don't know...

If anyone wants to test this out for us by disconnecting internet from their S7 [with October firmware] and leave it disconnected for two hours or more, be my guest.  I'm not testing it on mine.  I don't want potential delays from having to send boards back for repair/replacement.

I personally will not upgrade anymore S7's I purchase in the future unless it is necessary for some major fix.  Even if my S7's arrive with an updated firmware other than September, I'm setting my fans to manual.  Period...  It's not worth the risk.  If they take away the ability to manually set the fan speed, I will connect the fans directly to a PSU.  It's just not worth the risk.

I understand your answer but my message was not about someone's burned miner. Any statements from Bitmain that October firmware SOLVES internet blackout issue?  I've just never seen this and that's why the question was.  Btw at least it solves possible fan malfunction like posted here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1235167.0

Actually really bad that Bitmain firmwares do not have any public release notes..

Understood.  Thanks for the link.  I see what you are referring to now regarding fan malfunction instead of internet malfunction.

EDIT:

This post made by BITMAIN is what had most all of us believing the October Firmware update was possibly a fix for internet connection blackout.  He does advise us getting a second ISP for a good reason apparently:  So, I suppose I should have paid more attention to the "exclamation point" at the end of his statement regarding making sure "you do not lose internet connection!"

Tracking Number should be emailed to you from the automated system when the factory ships your Antminer.

if you purchased the PSU and the miner at the same time, your PSU may have been shipped ahead and the order may be marked as "shipped", however, when the S7 ships, the system will update and add another tracking number belongs to your S7.

Some had the tracking numbers updated in the system, but the automated email didn't make it to the inbox.

and....

Regarding the Internet Connection to your mining farm or Antminer S5, S5+ and S7, please make sure you do not loose internet connection! (2nd ISP will help you avoid that problem)

For S7, new firmware is published at http://www.bitmaintech.com  Please select the correct frequency version you originally received.  If you received 575mhz version, please use the same version.

So, is the only way we know our order shipped is when the truck pulls in or an email from FedEx/DHL/UPS?

EDIT #2:

I can see now why an update to the October firmware may be beneficial since it may address the issue of a fan malfunction instead of an internet malfunction.  Now, my only concern is updating firmware for batches of S7's with frequencies higher than 600 MHz.  The present firmware updates available only go as high as 600 MHz.

And I still don't know if I can safely run a batch 8 on 2 HX850's.  I'm running my batch 3 on two and it's working fine, but the 1293W is concerning since I need to power two boards with one PSU...not sure if that pushes over 850W for two boards since they don't mention how many watts each board will pull.

It's 1293 watts at the wall for the boards, fans and controller at 25 degrees Celsius ambient temperature.  Batch 8 is approximately 400 watts per board at default frequency of 700 MHz.  The HX850 can actually push more than 850 but not recommended.  I would think you would be fine without over clocking.  However, you might want to ask dogie or someone else who is very familiar with this PSU.  Shoot dogie a PM.  You will find a forum he created about PSU's here: Dogie's Comprehensive Power Supply Analysis:
