Decided to "make a thing" to power my S7s . Hope some of you will appreciate this! 2X 2000w server PSUs sharing the load of the 3 S7s. Will shortly be replacing the PSUs with the 2500w versions since I'm actually pulling 4400w DC from them right now, which is 200w over their rating on each. I've adjusted the voltage output to 12.6v on the PSUs. Great rig man. Kudos! 12.5V+ opens up some good OC headroom on the S7.

There is not yet a firmware update for Batch 7, so I would stick with what you have got for now. Rich

Rich to follow up on firmware updates. bitmaintech firmware updates have not had a great track record over the last 2 years. I never update firmware from them. This is on 12-15 s-1's 15-18 s-3's 3 or 4 s-5's and 5 s-7's I can find at least 20 I bricked my gear posts during a firmware up date. I can not find 20 my gear is great now that I updated the firmware posts. I suggest never update bitmaintech firmware on your gear. Unless your gear is bricked and you posted about it here and contacted bitmaintech. Edit: if others have done a firmware update on the exact same piece of gear that you have (ie all boards and same oem firmware) It may be okay to do as some have pointed out the s-5 had a good firmware upgrade.

PLEASE DO NOT OC if you do not have a PSU with an output of minimum +12V with loads. i'd say +12.5V & up below 13V then prolly a tad with good results on both miner & pool side. let it run 12 hrs or more & find a suitable setting.
obviously keep an eye on the temps too. so far i think most find that the chip works more "efficiently" around the 60 deg C range.
GL to all & hope to see more results.

always your own risk in oc'ing.

My S5's had an issue of dropping to 600 GH every once in a while and the only way to restore full functionality was to reboot them. I installed the latest firmware and haven't had the issue since.

I think there is a middle ground, which is upgrade if there is a good reason to do so, such as the S5 release that kept the fans running when you lost Internet or when fan control was added. Rich

Rich That firmware update may be the only one they ever had that truly was worth doing. So I will go back and slightly alter my post. I went back and did the edit. Now so far more then one person has said the s-7 firmware updates do not fix the no internet problem. So frankly I do not recommend doing any firmware up grades on an s-7. I set my fans on manual control (50%) and get them to run at 3600 + 3480 rpm. This fixes the no internet issue. Or at least has done so for me on three occasions I dropped the net.

Just wondering if I should tempt fate by lettings them run that high. Regarding firmware, I'm with phil on this one. The only update that has been worth it for me was an S4 update which actually made the miner work. When it shipped it was unusable. On the other hand, bitmain has a history of removing features with firmware updates. Removed voltage control on S4, and removed overclocking on S4+. The S4 can be flashed to older firmware to get it back, the S4+ can not. Complete bullshit on bitmain's behalf, they can't be trusted.

The other problem with the S7 updates is that there is no text accompanying them describing the changes from the release firmware. It may even be that they are the release firmware and that you are running the risk of an upgrade for no gain at all?

Well, it's good to know it doesn't fix the "Internet lost and burn to death issue". I will make sure mine are correctly manually set.
Thanks for the info, I was sleeping thinking I was all good with the latest firmware ...

Certainly seems to be the case with the S7 firmware update.

These miners will be obsolete in about a year or two (MAXXXX) who really cares about the longevity. Milk the most you can out of the hardware

Why is Ebay and Amazon sellers selling these S7 for $2300-3300 when BitMain is selling it for $1650 plus cheap shipping cost? Is it due to trust issues with wiring that people are willing to pay 50-100% more?

because people on ebay always over charge also the B8 miners wont ship for a few weeks so they think they can charge more for delivering promptly and buying from a trusted person in the US but anyone who know and or has bitcoin buys directly from the manufacturers. Or maybe they think they can take advantage of the people who don't have BTC and want it now. But historically ebay is always about 20% more then a deal you can work here on the forum

Just confirmed my front fan did not spin up.f2pool had a ddos and froze one of my s7's. When I cycled the power on the pair the other one's fan did not spin up so it would not start and started beeping. Cycled the power again and it spun up and started hashing. Will replace that fan. Also, after installing another s7 one of the little ground pigtails on the power cable was stuck in the rear fan. At power up the fan did not spin up because it was blocked so it started beeping as well. Removed blockage , cycled power and it started to hash.
Running October 23 firmware on all miners.
