Are any of these for sale yet that will work with BFG Miner (and MultiMiner)? I read that the sample ones do not and the ones one vendor had in stock a couple weeks ago do not. I'd love to pick up a couple of these. I wish the voltage was also software controlled - would make playing with them remotely easier.

The latest BfgMiner it will but my experience with it was satisfactory.  Just use Cgminer-gekko and it works flawlessly.

Software-controlled voltage would be nice, but the added cost and complexity was ruled out for the design. If we build another one with a new chip in the future we'll probably put that on there since we'll have already worked out most of the specifics for other things and because since a fair amount of the overall design would transfer directly from the existing version of the Compac to a new one, which means I won't have to start from scratch with the dev of literally every piece of the thing next time.

I would agree with using cgminer-gekko.  Using BFG I can understand if someone was use to it.  But Novak did a amazing job with cgminer-gekko and it just works.

So I would take easy route.  Also it's nice and easy to change freq with numbers.

Also the "new rbox" is using Icurus :S .. (On my windows PC, nothing running on my ubuntu)

Yes it can be used on Ubuntu.  The instructions might be a tad different then the Debian ones.  But it will be very close.

Basically forget about Icurus.  Install the compac-cgminer and run it.   So you will need to install it and use it for best results.

See if you can get the .dll from the regular CGMiner.  It should be in there if it is missing.

Honestly Linux is the way to go with these.  So much easier.  Even a RPI is very nice and easy to use.

Glad to hear it's working.  Not all USB ports are equal.  This is why a nice powered hub is nice to have you know what electricity it has.

With windows moving also might have did something with drivers and helped.  The zadig drivers in windows is why I like linux so much.  If your doing it long term look into RPI with a powered hub. Not only is it easy to setup but it cost almost nothing to run.

cgminer basically does Zadig for you automatically on Linux. It's still ugly behind the scenes.

No that is the nice thing is it works great.  No messing with drivers like windows.

So that is why I refer to it.   If you get a RPI you will be very happy for minera or running it on a desktop on RPI.

It might be ugly but if it get's the job done I'm happy.  Windows is ugly and does not really work all the time. Some are lucky and they get Zadig to work first time.  Others its a pain.

I love the compac-cgminer.  It works great on RPI.   Weather it's code is ugly or beautiful it just works great.

sidehack, what do you thing a peltier would do? 22 watts of cooling capacity. cool the power section and chip. I would need frost precautions etc but I can do that easy.

stupid? oh yeah that has vapourminer written all over it. I mean anything worth doing is worth overdoing as the saying goes.
