Hungarian Open already on it's way and Cilic chooses to enter as wild card but he is rank number 1 in the tournament. What do you guys think? Will it bring good outcome as lately he has been struggling and is out of the top ten already. For me it looks like he is looking at this tournament he rally gauge his physically and see if he can still continue or need to take a break. Or maybe take this opportunity to bring his form back. He is already through to he next round of 16 and will be facing Cuevas.
Cilic has only played 9 official matches this year and he has a negative record of 5-4. I don't know what to say about his form coming into this tournament since he's been in a poor form the whole year. He is facing Cuevas and I don't thi k he will have an easy match here especially because Cuevas won a tournament last week even though it was only a challenger but this will motivate him and it seems like he doing well on clay surfaces lately. Will be interesting to see what happens. The only reason why I can see Cilic entering this tournament is that he most likely needs match fitness to get himself match fit for the French Open. Hopefully he does well but as we have seen, he has been in poor form so far this year. This could be his best chance to find some form and win this tournament before the French Open so lets see how he goes.

Potentially the last match between Nadal v Ferrer today Feels sad to realise we won't be able to see Ferrer in near future on court. His athleticism has always inspired me . As far as todays match is concerned I guess Nadal will win in straight sets.

I read reports that he is somewhat nursing some injury that's why his form is very poor to say the least this year, but entering this tournament will probably give him some confidence. He is currently playing Cuevas, and it was a tough battle, winning the first set 7-5 and leading the second 5-4 with Cuevas serving. Coric on the other hand already won his match in 3 sets against Haase, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, he is the second rank in this tournament.

I'm not sure if he will be right to go for the French Open which is a shame as he is a great player and we always like to see the great players playing in Grand Slam tournaments.

Yeah, I guess he really need to take some rest it looks like something is not right on Cilic right now.

And now the second seed has fallen as well, Krajinović defeated Coric, 6-4, 7-5, and book himself a SF seat. He was down 4-2 in the first set, fought back, save 3 set points.
Looks like Cuevas run will end tonight in the hands of Berrettini, 3-6, 6-4 and he is currently down 5-2. Let's see if he can have a second wind and win the third set.

Yeah I thought the same thing, well Cilic did get some match fitness playing for over 3 hours but still I don't think he is right to play. Maybe its best for him to rest up and see how he goes in the French Open. Has anyone heard any news out of the Federer camp about him playing in this years French Open? I haven't heard or seen anything yet but if he is then we should expect to hear some news soon.

Didn't hear anything but I am thinking he will skip whole clay season again. If he wanted to Play French open he would probably play some of this opening tournaments as well to get a feel for the clay surface, he skipped all clay matches in last two years so some adjustments would be needed for sure.
We have a possible great match in the making today. Nadal vs. Thiem should be really entertaining, I believe this match outcome is in Thiem hands. I feel like he is maybe only player at the moment who can beat Nadal on clay when both of them are playing best tennis. Only problem is that Thiem still has bad days way too much. We will see.

There’s no news yet about Federer participating in the French open, and I don’t think he wants to partipate either. In my opinion he should keep himself fit for Wimbledon, as his chances of winning the French open are very less due to the presence of Nadal and Djokovic. Thiem has the makings of a great player but you’re wrong he won’t beat Nadal especially on clay, however it’ll be an entertaining match for sure.

Well he has already beaten Nadal on clay twice. Both times in straight sets. I believe last year in Madrid and Rome. As I said he is the only player which can beat Nadal on clay when they are both playing 100%. Problem is Thiem still doesn't have a constant and often makes too much unforced errors. If he starts making those against Nadal he will lose in under an hour. Edit: Great win for Thiem and nice profit for me backing him to win in straight sets @6.5. Didn't see the whole match but parts I managed to see were full of great points.

Yes I understand that Federer should just get him self ready for Wimbledon however if this is his last year of tennis then we would think that he would want to play at all the Grand Slams to say his goodbye to the fans. Anyway lets see what he decides to do as it might not be his last year. Once again Thiem has beaten Nadal in the semi-final of the Barcelona Open and it was in straight sets. I'm glad that I put money on Thiem to win the French Open just like I did last year at around this time. I didn't get the same odds as last year at over $30 -1 but I did get on this year when he was at $11 and now he is in to around $6 with most sportsbooks to win the French Open.

Although Nadal told few good things about himself after the loss like his confidence is back and stuff , still feels bad to see him lose in his tournament. Would have loved to see him lift the trophy.

Thiem dominated Medvedev winning in straight sets and even winning the second set 6-0. I would of thought that Medvedev would put up more of a fight as he is currently the top player with the most wins so far this year but Thiem showed once again why he will be a huge contender for the French Open this year. Thiem is now into $5.50 from $6 after this win, I actually think he should be second favourite behind Nadal as Djokovic hasn't been in good form on clay so far this season.

What a player! He is too good on clay just like Nadal. Although Nadal has achieved a lot , Thiem can achieve the same on clay if he goes on playing like how he is playing now. It's 2nd title for him in 2019 , congrats Thiem.

He is still a momentum player and will probably never achieve a level of consistency big 4 have/had. Thiem becomes very dangerous after he manages to pass first few matches in the tournament. He is my favorite to bet on. I always play against (handicaps) him in the beginning of the tournament (he is prone to lot of unforced errors) and then I start playing on him against top players when he usually brings his top game. As I wrote previously he is the only player who can beat Nadal if both of them are playing their best tennis on clay.

Yes he is the only one to be able to beat Nadal on clay however we saw him do the exact same thing this time last year in these tournaments before the French Open. Then once they both met each other in the final of the French Open, Nadal dominated Thiem so this is where he needs to do some work on in Grand Slams. If Thiem can get it right in Grand Slams then we could see another Nadal winning multiple French Open titles.

I still haven't read any news coming from Federer if he will enter the French Open this year. He has been skipping the tournament for the last 2 years, I think (correct me If I'm wrong). So most likely he will do the same this year (my speculation). But as you have said, if this is Roger's final year in tennis, then I guess he should play so that we can witnessed him chase another Grand slam. Gonna be interesting what's his decision.

Well I think it would be the right thing to do if it is his last year playing tennis. Federer has a big following in France and it would be nice to see him farewell the French people if it is his last year. Then again he could go on next year as he does look in good shape evening winning a tournament this year so we just never know what he will do, the sports books have him at around $21 to win the French Open so do they know something that we don't?

Yes, I totally agree, so it is still a puzzle for us tennis fans to wait and see if he is really going this year and chase the French Open. Probably those sport bookies know a thing or two, . It really doesn't make sense for him to skip this year though, as fans are really waiting for him to comeback on French and it will be thrilling for fans to see his again.

Guys, Federer will not play French open, he simply doesn't want to spend his energy on clay. It is most demanding surface (physically) and his worst. He is enjoying 6 weeks of holidays before giving his best on grass part of the season. He always choose his tournaments carefully and older he gets he will remove more and more tournaments so he can give his best on the ones he is playing.
