We got the final we were hoping for with Medvedev v Coric, I'm hoping that it will be a close final going to three sets but I think Medvedev will be the winner and get one step closer to catching Federer in the rankings.
Does anyone know if the Laver Cup matches count towards ranking points? because if so Federer would also be picking up points if team Europe win.

Yeah, and I am still siding for Medvedev. I do not think there will be any competition at all. Medvedev is in good form and he will not give much chance to Coric. In the Levar cup (no clue about the draw) the Nadal vs Kyrgios match got cancelled because Nadal is injured. Not sure what injury it is, I hope he is well. Federer vs Isner at 14:00. Federer should win but Isner is challenging, he will not give up very easily.

Medvedev is also great player but let's not count Coric out since he got this far in the tournament. Which means Coric is also has a big chance of beating a much talented medvedev in their match up.

I have my doubts that Nadal is injured, I think he just doesn't like to play against Kyrgios because he doesn't like his attitude towards the players and fans when Kyrgios plays. That was a dominating performance by Medvedev who made light work of Coric to win in straight sets. I noticed that the ranking points haven't changed as Medvedev is still on 5,235. Maybe it takes a few days to update?

The Medvedev and Federer, both match progressed as I predicted :-P Federer had to fight hard (it was very clear in the 2nd set) to win his match and Medvedev won his match quite easily against Coric. Congrates to Medvedev for having another title. I noticed that the ranking points haven't changed as Medvedev is still on 5,235. Maybe it takes a few days to update?
Still it's the same.

As far as I can remember the Laver Cup won't add up points to the players in their standing. But next year will be different as it will be added to the ATP calendar year, so probably they can make points out of. Takes time to update the rankings though, yeah probably takes few days or more to see Medvedev points to reflect.

I thought so mate as the Laver Cup isn't part of the ATP but its good to know that next year it will be as it has been a good tournament the past couple of years and I think we'll see more players playing if there are ranking points on the line.

Time for the ladies to shine in the Wuhan Open.
There's a lot of upsets already as former number 1 Wozniacki is out and so as Kerber and Sevastova in the round of 64. And Bencic and Bertens in round of 32.
World number 1 Barty and number 2 Pliskova goes to the next round.
(1) Barty will be facing (16) Kenin, while (2) Pliskova vs Yastremska, (3) Svitolina vs S. Kuznetsova, I think this match will be interesting to watch tomorrow.

We can see lot of upsets in women's division because there are no consistency in their plays. Unlike men's division, they can maintain their peak condition in playing tennis.

Well the rankings points have been updated and for Medvedev's win in St. Petersburg Open he only went up 70 points which isn't much, now on a total of 5,305. I'm thinking its because its only a World Tour 250 series. It will be interesting to see which tournaments he plays in, China look to have a few bigger tournaments where he can earn a lot more points.

Very interesting, as St. Petersburg is part 250 ATP tournaments and supposedly getting 250 points for winning it. By lifting his third ATP Tour title of the season, Medvedev will receive 250 ATP Rankings points and $203,410 in prize money. He has become the first Russian to win the tournament since 2004. Not much into ladies (not a homo lol). Very unpredictable and some of them screams AF :-P However looking at the current draw I feel Barty A will be one of the finalist and with her we will see either Pliskova or Svitolina depending on the one wins the semi.

If he received 180 points last year and 250 this year it makes for that difference of 70 points. Don't forget that players defend points from previus year. If Medvedev for instance won ATP 1000 in Paris last year he can only lose points this year or at best if he wins again keep the same amount.

Not much into ladies (not a homo lol). Very unpredictable and some of them screams AF :-P Lol, yeah I know the screams and the grunts and the match are very unpredictable indeed. But most of the time I watch some interesting games as well. Who would have thought that Osaka was a non-existent this year? However looking at the current draw I feel Barty A will be one of the finalist and with her we will see either Pliskova or Svitolina depending on the one wins the semi.
I agree that Barty has all the momentum and advantage at this tournament. All the ranked players advantages except for Simona Halep, who retired because of a recurring back injury.

Yes I forgot about that and that players can defend their points. Medvedev made it to the quarter finals last year so I think there would be a difference in points. So I'm guessing that if he wants to catch Federer that he enters tournaments where he didn't make the finals as he can earn more points that way but then he would need Federer to also lose as I'm sure Federer will also try and hold the number 3 rank.

Points are a way to rate current tennis players. I don't think the ATP rating would make any sense in the long run and any player would focus on collecting and saving points. They'd look for the wins as at the end It's just the number of trophies an individual player wins that counts.

I was looking for her in this draw since I had her in mind but what happened to her? I am not much into reading news by the way, just wondering if you have any information about her. She was the first in the ranking not long ago. Pliskova lost against Yastremska which means we will see a semi in-between Svitolina and Kvitova. In my other post I totally forgot about Kvitova. So she might be another good contestant for the final too considering Barty A has not much competition in her side to reach the final.

Who would have thought that Osaka was a non-existent this year?
I was looking for her in this draw since I had her in mind but what happened to her? I am not much into reading news by the way, just wondering if you have any information about her. She was the first in the ranking not long ago. She won the Pan Pacific Open last week beating Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-3 and probably opted not to join this tournament. Pliskova lost against Yastremska which means we will see a semi in-between Svitolina and Kvitova. In my other post I totally forgot about Kvitova. So she might be another good contestant for the final too considering Barty A has not much competition in her side to reach the final.
Barty will be up against (1) Sabalenka in the semi-finals, I think Barty will have the tools to go to the finals this year. Kvitova won against Yastremska and Riske upsets Svitolina. So it will be Kvitova vs Riske on the other bracket for the semis.

Just few minutes ago I have some serious lost as Barty lost against Sabalenka in straight sets just first set have some good games in second she was not good enough losing score 7 - 5, 6 - 4 and now watching second semi final Riske A vs Kvitova look like its going to be a very interesting match as both are in good touch.
