I do not think that Djokovic would be able to get another major title unless Spanish play Carlos Alcaraz is there in the contest. Novak Djokovic is 37 years old and you need to have fresh blood in order to compete in tennis especially if you're opponent is Alcaraz.
Nah. I feel that he will win a few more big titles at least before retiring officially though since his last win was not long ago(US Open 2023). I don't think he will win another grand slam though primarily thanks to Sinner and Alcaraz.

I cant see it, with how strong Alcaraz is and how talented both Alcaraz and Sinner are they are building
their shot making, strength and fitness and mental ability, Djokovic is in maintenance mode and some
repair work from injuries and that will only increase, I would be very surprised if he does.

I cannot say if Alcaraz will win most grand slams in coming years but he is the highest paying tennis player aleady. His estimated earnigs are around $45 million per annum.
Well deserved. Those figures are crazy to think about, but what's even crazier is the fact that the final between Djokovic and Alcaraz charged the most expensive tickets in sports history.

That is unreal earning, he is set to become the top earner of the game of all time I would imagine.

Hamburg

Zverev under pressure a little bit ATM against Gaston, he lost the first set but has broken Gaston in the second.
top seed should be getting to the final.

Swedish Open

Nadal through to the Quarter finals, I was going to bet on a Nadal win @ 1.53 but was unsure . . .

Ruud baten by Montiero today, 6-3, 6-3 - big upset

Both Nadal and Ruud are in the Doubles semi final though!

No doubt he is already a tennis star and will grow both in terms of performances, grand slams and in finances too  Wink

By the way, this man was also witness in the crowd at the Wimbledon finals and he is well known in his own field.  Smiley
A man who need no words, he's Tom Cruise !!!

Yes I remember spotting Tom Cruise at Wimbledon this year.

Couple of interesting matches today on the ATP, the two most important IMO both
involve Nadal!

Bastad Sweden:

Nadal v Ajdukovic in one of the semi finals
Nadal/Ruud v Lud/Matos (3rd seeds) in one of the semi finals.

I'm going to back Rafa to win in some way in his singles match, trying to figure
if he will do it in 2 or 3 sets?

Hamburg:

Zverev v Martinez in one of the semi finals, He's top seed and I think he can go all
the way.

Gstaad Switzerland:

Tsitsipas v Berrettini - has the make up to be a great match, I'm this goes all the way,
Tsitsioas should win this with a atruggle.

However, I would still say that Djokovic is the best, he has had lot of success so far, decline in performance is very normal because his age also affects him, but being runner-up is not bad thing either.
There is no single GOAT in tennis. There are multiple like Djokovic, Fed, Nadal etc. It was amazing to see Djokovic reach the final though right after his knee surgery.
Yes, there are many great tennis players, but isn't it clear that Djokovic has had all his success so far and Djokovic is also one of the tennis players that I think is the most favorite.
All the tennis players you mentioned are the best but I have different assumption depending on Djokovic because I admire his confidence and playing quality which is still quite good even at his current age.
Even though the final only made him runner-up, I very happy about all this, on the other hand Alcaraz also has lot of respect for Djokovic which indirectly made everyone happy with the final match few days ago.
Moreover, Djokovic has also won 24 grand slam titles, and 7 of them were at Wimbledon, if the final is Djokovic victory then we could see him truly equal Roger Federer record.

We had the discussion about who was the one GOAT and most people agree
that Federer holds that title but what is remarkable is the timeframe of having
3 outstanding players dominate the sport over the same length of time. Others
would argue for each of the 3 being the GOAT based on various stats.

For instance between the 3:

Overall titles: 1st Federer 111 / 2nd Nadal 103 / 3rd Djokovic 99

Singles titles: 1st Federer 103 / 2nd Djokovic 98 / 3rd Nadal 93

Grand Slams: 1st Djokovic 24 / 2nd Nadal 22 / 3rd Federer 20

One of those GOATS - Nadal is in the final of Bastad to meet first time finalist
Borges. Nadal also cancelled his doubles match with Ruud.

The 2024 season is gradually becoming more difficult for Djokovic than ever. The Serbian tennis player has yet to win any title this year. Djokovic was very close to winning the Wimbledon championship when entering the final. Unfortunately, this player lost to Carlos Alcaraz. During his career, he won every title but lacked the Olympic gold medal. If he wins, it will be a big boost for Djokovic before the 2024 US Open. It will be interesting to see Djokovic face Alcaraz, or Sinner, in Paris and see how the Serbian does.

Not having a coach is seriously affecting Novak Djokovic. With outstanding progress recently, Alcaraz and Sinner are surpassing Djokovic to become the number one candidate in every tournament they attend. At the age of 37, Djokovic is still playing at the highest level which is admirable. But if the current situation without a coach continues, it will be even more difficult for Djokovic. Therefore, Djokovic has little chance of regaining Jannier Sinner's ATP number one position, and Djokovic is even at risk of losing third place to Carlos Alcaraz.

Moreover, Djokovic has also won 24 grand slam titles, and 7 of them were at Wimbledon, if the final is Djokovic victory then we could see him truly equal Roger Federer record.
That didn't happen though and it probably never will thanks to Alcaraz screwing Djokovic again and again. Also, total number of grand slams isn't the only way to say who the GOAT is. It's a highly subjective matter which is why it's best to call all 3 of them the GOATs.

One of those GOATS - Nadal is in the final of Bastad to meet first time finalist
Borges. Nadal also cancelled his doubles match with Ruud.
He is the clay court master for a reason. Excited for this final and to see him play in the Olympics on his turf soon.

I was reading the news that Berrettini is back to winning and is returning to excellent levels. He won the ATP 250 tournament in Gstaad. Of course, we are talking about a much smaller tournament than all the other big stages but in any case this will allow him to return. At the moment he is 82nd. in the rankings, but with this result he will rise to 50th place from Monday.

He made a pretty good comeback this year after having to rest for a long time due to injury. If I'm not mistaken, previously he also made it to the final at the same tournament level, only this time he managed to become champion. It is true that this is a tournament level that can be said to be ordinary, but it is important for him who has been knocked out of the top 100 to be able to return to the top 100 which can provide him with many benefits.

Has anyone watched Zverev vs Fils?, the first set looks like it will belong to Fils who is already ahead but I am still quite confident that the home player can come back to be champion considering he is very good this year, and Zverev's performance at the tournament dispelled reports that he would miss the Paris Olympics due to injury.

Today Nadal was pretty far away from "Nadal" the player that we all know... Borges without doing nothing exceptionnal has achieved a great result (and without this player is something that can tell one day to nephews ...). The match was a kind of sad because I think anyone was expecting a more aggresive Spaniard... the N1 is another player...

Berrettini continue the actual tradition ( Roll Eyes ) of italian players that are doing really well. Halys wasn't the top opponent for him...no surprises here.

Yea I watched the match on and off, Nadal couldnt even make a set, the final score says a lot -
6-3, 6-2. He looked like he was lacking energy, especially towards the end of the second set.
I didnt bet on the final but I made some Satoshis on a few of Borges' matches.

Great to see Mateo back to winning ways, (Bitbollo is happy!!). Again I didnt bet on the final
against Halys, it was an easy win.
I did however lose Satoshi's on Berrettini against Felix AA and  . . . Tsitsipas. I bet on both
matches to go over 2.5 sets but neither could challenge Mateo that much.

I was also loosly following the WTA tournament over at Palermo, I had a bet earlty on for
the defending champion Zheng which was good. She won the final again beating Muchova.

there will be a long rehabilitation process that he will have to do to get back to competing like he used to, obviously reaching the big names in the rankings will be very hard if not impossible but in my opinion he could really be able to stay in the top 10 let's remember that he challenged and lost winbledon only because of Novak Djokovic can therefore easily be there in the lead competing with the greats

I really don't see Nadal reaching the top 10 frankly speaking since he has been on the sidelines for so long and his last big title was way back in 2022. He could win some big games here and there, but reaching the top 10 seems out of reach for him.

On the other hand, Djokovic could win one or more slams in the future as long as his body continues siding with him somehow.

I was really disappointed with the way we have lost for the Nadal and look like things are now having big turn, and we will have no fightback at the top level for this legend player because his body is not favouring him for having big wins against quality players which is surely sad news for his fans.

Same happen to Djokovic, and I am feeling now it's time for them to take rest and ruled out their return to top level because they are having long successful history of many wins in this play, but now new generation players are taking over and having good chance of staying at the top.

Alcaraz, Sinner, Zverev and Medvedev are ready for next era of tennis, but now we will have no longest history of success like we have in from last big threes because these are not able to bring consistency like them but still it is good we are having things at the top.

I agree about Nadal, he isnt getting back into the top 10, there are simply too many
players in the top 20 who are capable of beating him any day. I would argue that the
reason he even git to the final of Bastad was there were a lot of top 10 players not
playing this week because of the Olympics.

Regarding Djokovic, I cant see him winning another GS, not if Sinner or Alcaraz are
in the mix.

I agree but its too early for Djokovic to retire, he has at least a good season ahead
for 2025. For Nadal OI would say he will make a decision on whether to retire
or go another season at the end of this year.

Probably too early for Djokovic, I agree, but the level on which Alcaraz dominated Djokovic in Wimbledon was quite shocking. Djokovic was without any chance whatsoever. I think I can't recall ever having seen a game like that by Djokovic. If it wasn't for Alcaraz losing his nerves for a few minutes in the third set, that game would have ended without any thrill at all. Seeing a player like Djokovic not finding any solutions at any point in time during the game is quite telling in my opinion. Sure he can have a bad day, but this wasn't just looking like Djokovic being out of shape. It was more like Alcaraz being many levels above him.

If I remember correctly, Nadal already said that this is 99% his last season.

I never understood why Murray kept going given that he had a severely injured hip. He has won enough, nothing to prove anymore and then willing to risk his health foe what? I think it's tough to say goodbye to that part of life when you are a professional sports player. But still, it is not like there was still something to prove for him.

News from Italy since Sinner can't go to Paris and Olympics games due a bad flu (they said no covid related).
Meanwhile double team from Spain (Alcaraz - Nadal) is already there... Roll Eyes Let's see how much "priority" they will give to this tournament....

I agree but its too early for Djokovic to retire, he has at least a good season ahead
for 2025. For Nadal OI would say he will make a decision on whether to retire
or go another season at the end of this year.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/articles/czq670864w6o

Andy Murray has made a decision to retire after the olympics.

Yea too early for Djokovic but there will be opportunities to bet against him.
The Wimbledon final was indeed a bit surreal, the result was a combination of
Alcaraz being so strong and Djokovic having Zero answers to come up with.

Ah Murray, can understand why he bothered coming back after the hip operation.
He had nothing to prove, didnt need the money. It became a bit pathetic in the end.

Same argument for any of the older players:
Djokovic, nothing to prove other than trying to create a new record in something.
Nadal, is calling a day and should do after this season
Thiem, the same, this is his last season
Wawrinka, should make a decision, he is not the same player anymore.

Thats alright though, there will be a few more opportunities to claim Olympic Gold.

we know that the Olympics count for little and Sinner rightly preferred to conserve his energy for more important tournaments where the score for the ranking is at stake, tennis in the Olympics is like football, it doesn't count for anything so he will rest and play the next one tournament in force

I think this problem comes from Sinner's health problem. But I don't think he wants to spend his energy on more important tournaments. Once again, Italians are worried that there will be no Sinner at the Olympics. In Tokyo in 2021, Sinner did not attend. Anyway, in this tournament he plays the role of number 1 seed. This is an important loss. As the No. 1 ATP player at present, it is not surprising that Sinner is the golden hope of the Italian sports team. He, along with Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, are considered players capable of conquering the gold medal in men's singles tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Yes, I can't wait for Rafael Nadal to partner Carlos Alcaraz in the men's doubles tennis event at the 2024 Paris Olympics and I expect a classy performance.
