and the Netherlands beat Norway 2-1 with the help of the doubles match. Ruud beat Griekspoor which would be expected.
The Netherlands v Norway was an interesting match, the Dutch won it in mixed doubles: Dutch veteran and captain Wesley Koolhof and doubles specialist Demi Schuurs helped their country bounce back, defeating Casper Ruud and Ulrikke Eikeri 7-6(5), 7-5. Pretty logical move from the Dutch team me thinks as doubles players have more chances in mixed doubles than individual stars. Australia outperformed USA 2:1. Taylor Fritz lost to de Minaur, Pegula won against Tomljanovic and Hunter/Ebden won in the decider 6:3, 6:1 against Pegula and Ram. I see a headline that Australia are through to the quarter finals. Looking at the group standings on the website I dont think they are updated yet, it is showing Australia win/loss 1-1 Poland and Croatia are the only two with 2-0 Are you guys watching Nadal vs Thiem right now? The match was quite interesting and both were still solid without anyone having their game broken, I think this first set will be decided by a tiebreak. This is a match that is quite eagerly awaited by tennis fans and Nadal looks very ready for this tournament, he played doubles too but lost in the first round.
And Novak Djokovic, who played in the United Cup, reportedly suffered a wrist injury during training but it has not been confirmed and he managed to beat Jiri Lehecka to make Serbia 1-1 and managed to win through mixed doubles where he did not play and was replaced by young Serbian player Hamad Medjedovic.
That was a fairly strong performance from Nadal particularly in the second set to win that 1-6. The commentators were in awe of his performance and fitness after being out for so long.
Yea I heard about Djokovic injuring his wrist and then pulling out of the mixed doubles. I wonder how serious that is going to be. It might be very minor but here we were before Christmas talking about hoe resilient Novak is.

Yeah, Nadal looked awesome, he didn't look like he missed a lot of time due to injury. But I have to say that it wasn't Nadal who started playing better in the 2nd set it was Thiem who started playing worse IMHO. I'm not sure why whether due to fitness issues or something else but Domi looked like he was the one who was out for a year with an injury. It was one way traffic in the second set.

I did not watch, I just read the reports about this match. It was probably a successful comeback and as Nadal said, he iss happy to be able to play at this level. When one consider that he has not played a tournament for so long. The preparation was apparently good enough. But it is not just the physical fitness which is important for the first few games. Mental fitness is also important.

Nadal vs Thiem, are both on their comeback journeys, albeit in different phases of it. The match didn’t deserve to be a first-round encounter. They both played an electric first set with the quality on par with at least quarterfinals of a slam. 7-5,6-1 to Nadal, I couldn’t have imagined such a reassuring comeback against a quality opposition, while Nadal missed the whole of last season and played the previous one constantly in pain, (Knee). Also, the fact that he played the 2022 French Open with knee issues, and pain and still won it. Hope he can stay injury-free for a couple more seasons so that he can challenge Djokovic and the new-gen players to some more titles and etch his name in some more Grand Slams.

Naomi Osaka lost to Pliskova today 6:3, 6:7, 4:6. Not bad performance from a player who is just back from a maternity leave.
Russian teen Mirra Andreeva dispatched Samsonova in two easy sets 6:2, 6:1. Watch out for this young prodigy!
Match of the day is certainly first seed Rune vs Shevchenko. I won't be betting on this one as Rune is far from his best form and the Russian can surprise everyone with a win over the Dane.

Offcourse, this is only 1 match, so will be interesting to watch his performance in his second match against Kubler tomorrow.

It might be very minor but here we were before Christmas talking about hoe resilient Novak is. Djokovic just played and lost to De Minaur so this injury has affected his game as the match was done in straight sets 6-4 for both. Not sure why he didn't just pull out of playing in this United Cup and not get ready with recovering from this injury for the Australian Open which starts on the 14th of the month (13th for Australia). That tournament should be more important to him in the long run and surely would benefit more with a good performance from this first major of the year.

I watched this match and there were no visible signs Djokovic was injured or feeling uncomfortable because of his wrist issue. Although, if I were him, I'd definitely let myself rest before the GS tournament. Anyway, he knows his body better, perhaps his injury is not that bad. Meanwhile, as I predicted earlier, Shevchenko is taking his match against Rune into the 3rd set! 3:6, 7:5 so far and things are not looking good for the Dane.

I think Rune is ok, he has broken Shevchenko in the third set. In Brisbane Nadal will be playing Kubler tomorrow, Nadal is hot favourite @ 1.16 which is about right. Just looking for news about Djokovic and its pretty much all saying he was able to shake off the injury scare. Naomi Osaka lost to Pliskova today 6:3, 6:7, 4:6. Not bad performance from a player who is just back from a maternity leave.

I caught the match between Sakkari and Fernandez in the United Cup which was a great battle. I have yet to see Naomi play, she will get better for sure.

Osaka looked great. Her ball striking has stayed pretty consistent and her movement looked pretty good too, especially for a player who hasn't competed at the top level for a long time. However, Pliskova just loves the venue. I think it's her 10th straight win at Brisbane? She up against another heavy hitter in Ostapenko. Should be a good batter of great ball strikers who have average or below average movement.

Yes, Shevchenko lost control of the game completely. 6:2 3rd set Rune. Osaka looked great. Yes, but correct me if I'm wrong, Pliskova has extremely poor record against the Latvian. Both girls are hard hitters and not very good movers but stats are important and numbers suggest Ostapenko will be victorious.

However, you can never really predict these matches. Ostapenko, one day finally shows up like the slam winner she is. The other days, loses to 150th ranked player after hitting everything out. It's 1.5x on Ostapenko at the moment but on Hard court, I'm not really sure who takes it.

Btw, I also checked the stats and some sources say H2H is 5:5, other sources claim it's 5:4 Pliskova. Ostapenko v Pliskova is one of the most promising matches in tomorrow's order of play, among others I could recommend Andreeva - Rodionova a clash between a Russian starlet and a Russia-born Aussie veteran. I predict that Andreeva will win tomorrow. Altmaier v Dimitrov is also going to be fun to watch I believe. My bet will be on Grigor. Kubler v Nadal should be an easy match for Rafa. Mertens v Rybakina: The Belgian has improved her tennis (in singles) a lot lately but Rybakina seems to be too tough for her to beat. Russian derby Kudermetova v Potapova is also going to be intense, seems like anybody's match to me.

I guess it depends on how far back a specific website has its data backed up. For the games you've mentioned above, my picks are as follows: Altmaier v Dimitrov Kubler v NadalMertens v RybakinaKudermetova v Potapova Provided all these players are healthy, I'm fairly confident on my picks here. Well, let's see how it goes.

Nadal won easily over the home tennis player, he only needed 1 hour 21 minutes to advance to the quarter-finals and will again face the home tennis player Jordan Thompson and looking at the odds which are not much different when he faced Kubler it looks like this will still be a easy match for him who will only give difficulties at certain moments and if Nadal is successful then in the semifinals he will face either the host tennis player Hijikata or Dimitrov. In the other quarterfinals, Rune vs Duckworth and Safiullin vs Arnaldi, Safiullin and Rune had a big chance of winning and both performed quite well, especially Safiullin who managed to beat Popyrin in a very close match in three sets of matches and it could be said that this was one of the best matches in this tournament.

Now as we are heading for the big first event of the year preparation is going and players are trying their best for having their best for this event as well I am also trying to have some better updates related to players and my first try was not bad at all even I lost my bet but still look like things will be on best in coming days. I check these four players parlay and place my bet with small amount which was looking good but sadly Kudermetova lost the match in third set and all gone with still this was good bet she lost second set on tiebreaker and then unable to fight back in third set, but hopefully things will be good for the next matches as now we are heading for better matches in these events.

Kudermetova v Potapova Provided all these players are healthy, I'm fairly confident on my picks here. Well, let's see how it goes.
Potapova managed to win over Kudermetova in a long match of 3 sets but unfortunately today she had to walk over after losing the first set to Rybakina due to injury, as yesterday's match caused her to suffer an injury and drained quite a lot of energy. Rybakina advances to the semifinals to face Noskhova or Andreeva. United Cup, today Greece will play against Germany and this will be an even match between Tsitsipas vs Zverev and Sakkari vs Kerber, the winner of this quarterfinal will meet Australia in the semifinals while the other semifinal will be Poland vs France, seeing how solid Swiatek is and also Polish mix doubles so they are the favorites to win the United Cup this year.

Yesterday Caroline Garcia managed to beat Norway and from this victory she was able to take France to the semifinals of the United Cup. Garcia won the first match in singles and returned to play in the mixed doubles match and also managed to win. This was quite an interesting match and of course Garcia was the player who was instrumental in bringing France to the semifinals, he also managed to add to his record.
I think France will get chance to continue the match in the final because seeing how all the players have proven their prowess. Caroline Garcia will continue to try to convince her teammates and she will try to win the semifinal match to be able to reach the final and compete for the championship.

The match between Tsitsipas and Zverev is now over and Zverev has won it in two sets. Each player won most of his service games. Both made few mistakes. But Zverev was more focussed and played more aggressively. That was not the case in many previous matches between the two. But Zverev also had to be aggressive, because Tsitsipas is generally a player who plays aggressively.
