I want to contribute to the big deal, but not as a donation but as a participant in the sale. Is that possible?

Yes, it is possible. The deal pool is not donation and it is a sale of iotacoins to the potential partners and you will get btc for return. But the price will be lower than the current market price. The price is still under negotiation.

I think this would not always easy. I have pledged 2'000'000 iota but I have bought this iotas by escrow in the Speculation thread. I can send the iotas once I have it.

if you are a real person you are THE MAN!

you are not a crowdsale partecipant so you have buyed IOTA at crazy price and...you donate 2M!

is it true?

Is it possible that CFB change the genesis account of all the people who have pledged  for the deal, they can send him a pm, then sign with their btc adress from presale, the btc received from the deal will be sent to this btc adress.

I am just thinking that it is better than only promises of pledging....but it will consume time of CBF... So I don't know Smiley

For reminder I am pledging 100K IOTA for the deal.

While CfB is at it, he could include your buys in the genesis too while deducting from those who sold to you..

There are ~400 transactions in IOTA network... Genesis no more variable. (Only through resumption) My genesis account i.e. leer already. CfB has no key for the new ones.
Solution is to publish IOTA addresses to foundation and big deal - we can then transfer the pledges. (I knows, there are no GUI wallet yet..., but I think they were tools and people who can do their job already)

@bigholder : if you have a problem with the "blind" Big Deal, you don't have to donate for it. You can donate for the foundation or propose your own Support fund.

For sure, you are a smart guy/girl and you can understand why the full information can't be published about the buyer:
- The investors will not pump the price before they invest.
- If David give you privately informations, why only you? If he have got a privacy agreement with the investors, I couldn't make exceptions.

You can donate for much things, I (or other people) can be escrow for different donations or bounty. If you want to help but you want to decide conditions for your donation, it's not a problem.

If you are really a bigholder, why you are not very happy about the success of Iota? Why do you complain? You are not a victim, not at all.

I think launch would be sooner if we covered the deal and foundation pledges. We are still on 35M from the 75M total needed.

Have in mind that all those funds will be redistributed among people who work to take Iota further. So if you dont have the technical knowledge to promote or work for iota, this is the best way to help and not have to worry.

It sounds like some people will be donating the coins they get from selling the iota in the 'deal' to the foundation as well. People are seeing the 'deal' more of a priority.

What's the story of IOTA?

Who started it? Who thought of the using a DAG PoW?
Was it iotatoken (David) who commissioned/paid for the Tangle whitepaper?
When did CfB come on-board? What are the nature of these relationships and how did it all come together?

Id like to know the true genesis of IOTA, if somebody could lay it out please.

thanks.

But David stated they want Iota for the foundation, and i understand it. The foundation funds would increase in value proportionally to their work.

Maybe that people could place buy offers with btc, guaranteeing the iotas would go to foundation. And sellers could sell under market price, knowing they are still colaborating.

So the story of IOTA's inception goes back to the founding of the Jinn project in late 2014. Jinn was founded by me and Sergey/CfB, and we hired Serguei/Mthcl afterwards due to his expertise. The Jinn processor is being developed for ultra-low energy distributed computing, which will become more and more important, especially in Internet-of-Things, specifically Fog/Mist infrastructure. Naturally given that we are operating and R&Ding in this market segment we have conducted a lot of analysis on what is needed for this ecosystem to emerge and what sort of business opportunities that will arise within it.

In Fog/Mist and IoT in general it is obvious that interoperability will be the single most important component for new and seamless business-2-business opportunities. In general machine-2-machine/device-2-device payments will enable an autonomous economy of technological resource trade and collaboration across different sectors and turn more people into prosumers rather than just consumers. Due to this knowledge we drew on our previous expertise and experience in the distributed ledger world to see if there was a solution for these obstacles. We concluded that there were not, due to the high technological overhead of regular blockchains, as well as the prohibitive fee structure that make these required micro/nano-transactions infeasible.

In terms of roles within IOTA's creation it was multi-faceted. While I'm the leader of the project whose vision it is executed on, CfB and Mthcl's expertise and knowledge of several fields in symbiosis gave us the ability to create exactly the sort of solution that I deemed necessary for an IoT economy.
