Here's a news from https://www.hoopsrumors.com/

Quote
The Lakers petitioned the league for a disabled player exception to replace injured center DeMarcus Cousins. If granted, L.A. would have $1.75MM — half of Cousins’ $3.5MM salary — that could be used any time through March 10.

This is kind of new to me.
I didn't think there is a kind of exception or ruling in the NBA when an injured player suddenly happens. Still digging through what kind of rule is that or when it should take place.
Maybe because he is injured after signing and while the season haven't started yet?

I don't think the league would approve this petition, Cousins already sign a deal and that injury happens after the contract signing and no player wish to get injured, so I think it's the risk the Lakers management have to accept, getting part of the salary is a kind of injustice to me.

I am now worried about the future of cousins as he has been so prone to injury, after his contract with the Lakers, I think it might be the end of his career.

The way I see it, it's likely to happen, because he suffered a serious injury, and he is out indefinitely according to:

https://www.nba.com/article/2019/08/15/report-demarcus-cousins-suffers-possible-knee-injury

Even how good a player is but when he is already prone to injury, his market will value also drop and he is not also getting any younger.
If ever he will be able to come back and play again, he will be almost 30 years old and for me, that's not young anymore, his future is not looking good anymore.

Ergh! It is just so sad to see that this kind of young players are being put down by the NBA management.
His future is getting broken slowly.
That is one problem with large human like him. Remember Bynum? The same thing happened where he became almost no value for the NBA.
It is also why Duncan is one of the greatest big man. Somehow he made thru giving a team a championship despite his height.
Look at the teams now, they are more eyeing on small forwards and letting them do the job of the centers.
Speed and agility had been the focus ever since the game changed to a 3 point game madness.
The 80's kind of game is now lost. It is just Denver Nuggets who have that kind of play by now.

30 isn't really that old considering how in shape athletes are today.  Federer is still dominating and Vince Carter has been able to keep up in his 40s.  Its not the same deterrent it was before with how advanced conditioning and technology is.

There is a rule if the player closes up the season I think. Cousins will surely not play this year and he has hurt his legs so much so far that I think whenever he tries to comeback his legs are just using the parts that are not injured and that part gets overused and he injures that part.

So, he will probably rest until next year which will basically means 14-15 months of no decent basketball for him, maybe just practices. That is why Lakers could get that free cash from salary cap but whoever they want to end up signing, it will cost more so I think it is not really for actual salary cap problem but more about luxury tax, say they are already above, if they sign someone minimum that will be at least 3.5 to 5 million, however if they remove 1.75 from that it means salary cap hit will be just 1.75 to 3.5 and that will have much much less luxury tax as well.

Maybe you are right, but with the injuries he continued to suffer, that will be hard for him as the way I see it, Cousin's have already slowed down, he wasn't as dominant as he was before when still playing with the Sacramento Kings.

If you still remember, Greg Oden, he was the number 1 overall pick back then, played with the Blazers, had a good start but was injured, and that ended his career, he played with the Heat last 2013-2014 after like more than 3 years of rest, but he wasn't effective, now he is completely out in the NBA.

I think, Cousins out for the season does not have much of an impact for the Lakers. As long as LeBron and Davis are healthy, the Lakers would be doing fine. With this current situation for the Lakers, it would only mean they are open for a new opportunity that is more beneficial than having Cousins.

The Lakers already find a replacement for him, remember, they signed Howard and this guy though older is better than Cousins in terms of defense and rebounding. Lakers is still a threat, as long as Lebron is healthy and he will be able to have great chemistry with Davis, it will be hard for them to stop.
Without Durant in the west now, Lakers have a decent chance of winning in the West and who knows, Davis for after so many seasons will finally get his first championship with Lebron.

Also, Davis will not be pressure that much to provide the offense since he is playing with Lebron, and we know that Lebron will always take over in the offense and Davis will just have to help.

Lakers are not a bad team I will agree with that, between rondo/green/lebron/ad/mcgee, they are a good team, mcgee is backed by howard as well so as far as I am concerned they are a good team. However, I feel like they are not gonna be champions because I see at least 3 other teams that could rival them quite easily.

First is rockets, klay will be out all season so warriors are not in my first anymore, Rockets now have westbrook, harden and him have been friends since 10 years old so they know each other and how they play and they are friends, between capela and pj tucker and eric gordon, they will literally have a full team that can rival anyone out there, westbrook and harden can work superb together.

Next is obviously clippers, patrick beverly is known as a beast defender, paul george actually got dpoy votes and Kawhi.. well he is kawhi. Then Warriors, even tho they miss Klay they will still have Curry and on defense draymond and maaaaybe Dlo could help them a bit. That's why I see them as 4th best team so it is gonna be a big challenge for lebron and AD.

You forgot about the Denver Nuggets. We know how strong they are last year and the standings showed it.
They just need more chemistry to be produced and so are their players to improve. It is a young team though so it will happen.

I wont give up with Golden State too.
Yes DLo could be a good help, I mean they took him for that purpose, an exchange for Klay's absence for the mean time.
But it is the heart of GSW which is really left there.
Curry and Green. This two had been creating a great chemistry for a lot of years and this season no one is stopping Curry again. He gave way for KD in two years. Time to shine again.

That's a good plan on helping the adoption of crypto, but he needs to ensure that he will not break any legalities of his plan so he will not be fined by the SEC like what happen to Floyd Mayweather and DJ Khaled  who are just promoting a project that they didn't invest in.

This guy invested in crypto and he is very open about it, so he could be a great help to influence the NBA organization on adopting crypto.

There's no much talk about the Denver Nuggets this season although they've showed great basketball last season because we haven't also heard much talk about Blazers who beat them. People are talking about the LA team which are the Clippers and the Lakers because they made an upgrade of their line up which has now become a championship caliber team.

Right, they still have Green and Curry combination and then some players that can really make a break out performance for them this year. We will definitely see the old Curry since KD is gone and carry the team again. They may have lost Iggy or the likes of Livingston, but they are still a team to reckon this season.

It's a Curry and Thompson combination, expect that both of them will average at least 20 points PPG in the coming season.
Thompson is well motivated now as he got a max contract for the team and I'm pretty sure that their consistent 3 point shooting will help them win more games again. They were the splash brothers who gave success to the team even before Durant, so I think people have to remember that.

And what do you guys think of D-Lo fitting in Warriors backcourt? He's a great offensive player and real killer from downtown but sometimes there's too much of a good thing and I have worries that Warriors can be that case. All the internet is laughing at Rockets that they are going to need a second ball to accommodate Russell and James, but maybe the same problem considers Dubs?

I have to verify your statement as I don't know when exactly he will be back.
According to my research based on this site , https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2843955-report-klay-thompson-undergoes-successful-knee-surgery-to-repair-acl-injury ..... he will be back either february or March next year, so that's still good as long as the Warriors keeps their rank in the top 8 as that will guarantee them a playoff berth.

The new splash brothers will be D'Angelo Russell + Stephen Curry. We don't know how the two are going to blend though, but I'm sure every GSW fans is very excited to see them together playing.
I'm also excited, D'Angelo Russell has improved a lot, in fact he had his first all star appearance last season, so he will be more confident now, especially that he is playing with a great team that had multiple championships.

I'm not saying that it will replace Thompson and Curry but having D'Angelo Russell in the team will bring something new in the table here. No more Durant and it's going to be Steph Curry's team once more.
He won't as Thompson is special, they could be a big 3 in GSW.

D'Angelo adds offensive threat as he really has  the same intensity that Curry's bring this team. With a good chemistry between this 3 shooting guards, the outside percentage is really high. It's the players initiatives to be competitive as the same thing they did when they formed the championship caliber team before.

Curry's standing up will be anticipated this coming season. As the West side of the league really upgraded their squad, without KD to help them, he needs to be there and play well to influence his teammates.

If he will be able to improve his stats, he will be a great contribution to the Warriors.

These are the stats of the best players of the Warriors.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/russeda01.html
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/curryst01.html
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thompkl01.html

They all average at least 20 points per game, and what I like about  D'Angelo Russell is he had a major improvement with the net.
His stats is impressive from, 13, 13, 15, then 21 points per game.
