Charlotte Hornets signed Gordon Hayward to a 4year/120$ million deal, honestly I don't know what Mitch Kupchak is thinking about signing a player who clearly has not recovered from his injury yet to a big deal like this one.
I don't get you wrong, I get you right!  Grin
Damn, that large of a contract for someone who had been sitting with injuries and after recovering didn't really showcase a value to be paid like that.
Waste of salary cap. Whoever his agent is good at marketing him.   Cheesy

If they are planning to tank right now they should at least not make it obvious like they should have spread out that salary and spread it out to several role players. Right now Hornets has a abundance of guards and forwards in their roster that is why signing Hayward is really questionable. It's like the management doesn't want to spend time in the free agency period and contacting dozens of players that is why they wasted it on one player.

We never know but we can judge them when the season will finally start, Hayward is not bad as a player, he can still contribute, in fact Celics were better last playoffs when he came back, but it's just that we can't erase in our mind that on day he will rest again for a while due to an injury, he is too fragile for that contract but that's how it is, even the Warriors now had some problem with Thompson and nets are gambling with Durant.

Anyone surprise by this news? Donovan Mitchell agrees to 5-year, $195M designated rookie max extension with Utah Jazz.

I think he deserves it though, Jazz is building their team around him and I would say that he is the leader, just wish he could stay healthy and reach max potential to bring the Utah on top of the Western Conference. It won't be easy, but with this challenge he can elevate himself to at least on top of the MVP discussion this season.

Not surprised at all because he was the leader of the team. What lacks though is the support cast around him. There is no one to lead the team when he was injured and most of the team are very inconsistent. So they need to surround Mitchell of good bench and role players to put Jazz on notice in the Western Conference.

His performance in the last bubble was enough for the management to make a good decision.

Jazz Star Donovan Mitchell Sets Historic Playoff Record in Game 7 Defeat against Nuggets

I would say the timing is good as he made history in the bubble and it's an automatic max contract.

JaVale McGee goes to Cleveland Cavaliers and they acquired Marc Gasol and the first set of brothers to each play for the Lakers at any point in their careers. I think they acquired a great one here besides from Harrel, Schroder, and Matthews, LeBron is looking for a repeat with this lineup, wish they haven't dumped Danny Green that fast to Thunder and they got play again just like what we've seen on the Raptors but yeah trade do happens and it's always unexpected even to players sometimes.

Nah he was going to get a max contract from anyone.  Jazz have to keep mitchel he's nasty.  If you let go of your superstars when you have them you will never compete.  The salaries might seem crazy but if you don't pay them someone else will.

Lakers becoming a superteam now, Mark Gasol is always a threat in the inside, his defense is superb, have you seen him slowed dump  Embiid? that was really impressive of him, another great find by the Lakers, they are building a team that will dominate the league, unfair. Grin

Just kidding.

We all saw Lakers won a championship without having problems in chemistry.
Frank Vogel is such a huge impact that even players with just 1-year contracts could make a good chemistry with each other.
But if I am to pick, I'd rather choose JaVale over Mark Gasol. They must be aiming for a shooting team instead of more inside plays.

Both of them already become a champion and this time it will be a possible 2 Gasol that had a championship with the Lakers, who knows, if Gasol wins championship next season, he might still stay as the Lakers will continue to dominate.

Lakers are filling with all star players, they have an obvious plan, and that is to win back to back championship.

I'm also surprised to see Javale leave the Lakers, he has improved so much with the team, but yeah I agree that they are looking to be more of a shooting team now, no Javale, no Howard in the middle. So more on a offensive run and gun attack, showtime Lakers. And management wise, it was clearing cap move.

As for Donovan, this guy deserves every cent of that deal, no doubt about that and Jazz make the right decision for giving him that max contract.

Javale and Howard is not a big loss for the Lakers because they have Marc Gasol, him and Davis are quite good enough to improve their defense, just imagine, 3 big guys in the floor who are all good in defense, Gasol, Davis and Lebron James, Lakers still remain to have a big line up.

As for Donovan, this guy deserves every cent of that deal, no doubt about that and Jazz make the right decision for giving him that max contract.
Of course, I hope Donovan Mitchell will just stay loyal with the Jazz though, and wish help good health.

What a good amount for the contract of Vanvleet.
Raptors agree to huge four-year deal with Fred VanVleet
$85-m for his four year contract.
He's worth every penny. He had been improving a lot every year.
As for Donovan, this guy deserves every cent of that deal, no doubt about that and Jazz make the right decision for giving him that max contract.
The same goes for this guy. The meaning of hard work and passion for the game.

With all that is happening in trades.
I may just look at the team rosters after all of this ends.
It is really damn confusing right now that I can't keep up anymore.  Grin

What a good amount for the contract of Vanvleet.
Raptors agree to huge four-year deal with Fred VanVleet
$85-m for his four year contract.
He's worth every penny. He had been improving a lot every year.
Agree with you, he is one of the reason why Raptors had its first championship, and last playoffs, he was very consistent.

Grin

LMAO... lots of trade news now, it looks like in the coming season, we are going to see a new players in a team, we should be aware with this too. The future betting will again be affected with these news, so I think I'll just observe before playing a bet again.

Well, they have too or they will be capped, and with the current situation, they really are clearing it.

They might not. They dumped the "lucky charm" named Danny Green.  Grin
Dude is same as Lebron when it comes to championship in different teams. (3)

JaVale McGee is also the lucky charm that has been dumped, imagine he already got 3 rings more than Kevin Durant has and even more to James Harden hahaha! Just for GAG! Grin I do think McGee is explosive inside but in terms of outside shooting, you can rely on Gasol especially in the perimeter maybe that's the Center they wanted to acquire.

That is a truth that you have said.

But him being a professional, he can cope up with the missed season that he has with last time.

We will see, if it is a great comeback or just a false hope for us, fans.

You can't measure his capability for him being professional, it's the way he plays and if his body will still continue to function as expected to him. Durant is no doubt a great fighter, a hall of famer but we can't just disregard a serious injury, so we can understand if people have a little doubt on him now.
It lessens the expectation of a player like him that just got an injury.

Many times and many great players got an injury and that made the noise for them a little lower and decreased a lot of expectations for them. But I'm sure that he won't be forgotten quickly as long as he can prove himself back again.

If what he need is a team that relies in him then I guess he can prove himself with the Charlotte Hornets as Boston Celtics are playing with a lot of rotation, they changes their plays defending on their opponent but certainly Hornets are like an OKC team who relies on Westbrook or a Rockets team who relies on Harden.

Yes, his improvement can't be ignored through his NBA career. Toronto's taking good care of him. If most of the teams are like this for their players that are contributing very well, they'll get to see better performance from that player.
Good choice for Toronto.

Most players who does not get a good contract yet will always play hard to improve and to impressed the fans so the management would like them and will give them a good contract, but afterwards, that's where some players would take it easy since they already get a good salary, they will not be too aggressive, they'll play soft basketball to stay healthy and still continue to make money.

One bad example is Siakam which was signed at $130 million for 4 years, but look at his performance during the Bubble.

Although his not impressive this year but I think we cannot determine that he's doesn't deserve on his contract, remember he is one of the key component on why raptors win the champ that's why he deserve the contract and maybe for now siakam is afraid on doing a contact to the other people since we know covid-19 still here so maybe that one bothered him so maybe let's excuse him for this season only and just give a verdict on next season if he s play the same then we can tell that he truly not deserve the contract.

He actually deserve the contract he have signed. Siakam is a good addition to any team and his value remains the same even the bad performance in the bubble (which was understandable because of the current pandemic). He was excellent in 2019 NBA finals, I don't think that's a bad contract as the Raptors is keeping him.

No, Nets already had given Durant 1 season to rest, they gamble for that, so since he is back this coming season, they will be expecting that he will play as expected. Nets paid him some serious salary, I don't think they would not expect much from Durant, this is business, he must deliver because they are paying him millions.
