In the other news, Zion Williamson will sit out last preseason game  against NY Knicks due sore knee.He is only 19 yo, i hope that Pelicans won't push him too hard in his first season, you gotta be careful with these kind of players.

Whether he adjust his playing style or he loses weight. His knee will not be able to withstand the pressure of the regular season if he keeps playing the way he does with his current weight. I do not want to see him turn into a top pick bust just because of injury. I want to see his full potential and what he can bring to NBA.

Check this video on why Zion has a high risk of injury. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGRnMIRCtDU

Nice explanation but his style of play is what makes him popular and became the number 1 in the latest draft pick.
I am pretty sure the Pelicans already understands that and if he will not play its full potential the pelicans would not get the full service from him.
All the teams who get the number 1 pick has a high hope that it will take the team to the playoffs and will remain to be a contender, so limiting him might not help the purpose.

Makes no sense for Pelicans to push Zion hard right from the start. They can't do much anyway, why should they endanger potential franchise player?
Remember Greg Oden? He was picked before Durant, experts were comparing him with great bigs like Olajuwon and Shaq, and we know how that ended.
I don't say that Zion is in same danger as Oden had issues even before draft, but with those strong and muscled players you have to be extra careful.

yes, they dominated the Clippers, but PG was not playing and Leonard only played a small number of minutes, preseason games are just exhibition games, it's a no bearing game and starters usually does not play hard to avoid injury.

How should I say it coz uhmm.. I’ve high hopes with what Luka Doncic skills that he have and with a healthy now Kristaps Porzingis that can definitely enough to make in the playoffs, but let’s see how they’ll play in regular season and I rather want to see that they likely to continue dominating each of their game.
I research some article about the playoffs ranking in 2020 and found this one.
https://lwosports.com/2019/10/06/2020-nba-western-conference-playoff-predictions/

Based on its ranking,
1. Los Angeles Clippers, 2. Denver Nuggets, 3. Los Angeles Lakers, 4. Utah Jazz, 5. Houston Rockets, 6. Portland Trail Blazers, 7. Golden State Warriors, 8. San Antonio Spurs

Dallas was not included so they are an underrated team and it would be a surprise if they will make it to the playoffs.

I'm just wishing that no one else would get the extremely injured for this upcoming NBA season. Normally ranking always fail and most often the one who makes in the playoffs are literally not in the list.

To reduce injuries, NBA should seriously reconsider shortening regular part of the season. I know that money is always an issue, and owners and sponsors are worried that they would loose too much money, but what we have now when top players are dosing their playtime during regular season ain't fun either, so many games look like exhibition.
And we all know that real stuff starts at playoff, so in the end we would have more interesting regular season, and healthier players in playoffs. Win-win situation.

Dallas is underrated indeed but looking with how Doncic and Porzingis enjoying each other they can simply build a  good relationship and a kind of leadership this team needs to be more competitive, Back when the time where Kidd and Nowitzki play alongside and create a good chemistry. If Luka and Kris will let their team mates to be more involve and create space by moving without the ball, there's always chances to improve not because you are underrated means that you can't compete it's the leadership of coaches and star players to be combined.

Luol Deng was never really that much of a superstar, even at his best years dude wasn't really a superstar, he scored less than Kyle Kuzma has scored on his peak year (albeit on a slower pace I would agree) and he was a beast defender for sure but that is about it, I would say he was a offensively talented Tony Allen type player, just because he could be a role player to some team on their ring chase doesn't negate the fact that he was so bad at the end that people literally tried to get rid of him, it wasn't just about his contract, if you pay someone a lot of money and it looks like it is too much money, you at least play him a bit to get only a portion of that back, dude didn't get to play at all, he sucked that much.

So, at the end he became a meme among the NBA followers. Sure, he had his good times but I doubt it will erase his bad times.

Luol Deng was another case of a player who failed to evolve as age catches up on him. Careers of players who rely so much on their quickness or explosiveness will not last long. Chicago was kind enough to let him retire peacefully. I hope he got smart with the money he got from playing and not end up broke with life after NBA.

There is no need to lower the NBA games. Why? It's because injury is always there to happen. What gives if we only low the stretches, yes NBA will lose money but these players are enjoying their jobs. They can get fame, money and happiness in one.

The only thing about injuries is to have a good physique. Just look at people that having injury most of the time. The unicorn, Kristaps Porzingis, he's injury prone. He's slim and he's big that's why he is injury prone. If you're big, the best thing to do is to build your body and put some weight to avoid injuries. Injuries are like accidents, it may happen all the time. Even during practices it may occur.

Players being paid by huge amount of money, franchise owners needs to benefits from them. There's no need to change how the league was being manage as you mentioned that it's all about money, Players who are  wise enough to stay healthy will receive more paychecks than to those who are injury prone.

It's business. Players and team owners knows the value of being physically healthy as there's the money belongs.

It is not just about injuries, it is about quality of games as well.

Have you seen some of those back to back games? They look almost as exhibition games. And there are bunch of games like that, where you can see that players are not even trying hard. And that hurts league way more than reducing number of games , in the long run.

There is another big  issue with this-lack of sleep due heavy schedule. ESPN has interesting report regarding that, it is worth checking
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27767289/dirty-little-secret-everybody-knows-about

I don't say that reduction should be huge, but something like 10% cut would be perfectly feasible. And we would get more interesting and competitive regular season instead that exhibition show that we often can see.

I know this much, just judging from the NBA Preseason. I am liking the Chicago Bulls bench. One of there bench guys can shoot hell of 3 pointers. They stomped The Toronto Raptors the other day. I honestly think after last years season the Bulls need to play their bench. It is obviouse they are better!

They might be better but tops they are a #8 or #7 seed in the east.  They need some more pieces to start to contend.  I do like Wendell carter, he is a blue collar type of player every team needs.  I hope he develops into a good player.  Another duke kid who was great to watch in college too.  If they win 41 games this year and break even that is a win for them

This is not a good idea. Injuries are part of the game, where in fact players are payed to give their all no matter the consequences are. Shortening the games of the regular season does not benefit anyone since their revenue will only deteriorate.

Chicago was kind enough to let him retire peacefully. I hope he got smart with the money he got from playing and not end up broke with life after NBA.
Well, that's another case, I wish that he won't be the same as Allen Iverson after the retirement.

I guess that he has enough knowledge on how to deal with the next chapter of his life after his NBA career.

We dont know that.
But if he could afford anything and just requires a good retirement then I guess we could say that he is still in good position financially.

But it doesnt matter anymore, a round of applause after his statement will be remembered forever in Chicago and that is all worth it than money.

Yeah, we have no idea about that but I'm wishing all the best to him and if ever I'll meet him in the future, I'll be glad to approach him and thank him for his contribution because he's part of the generation of NBA superstars.

Hats off to him, I guess we have to move on to next topic.

Best thing to do after retirement is putting up business to sustain the lifestyle they currently have. These NBA veterans probably has a financial advisor (if they choose to, and that's the wisest thing to do.)
I guess its easy for them to put up a basketball clinic and training camps for all ages, since they have played the best basketball league in the world. That idea will most likely to sell a lot.

It looks like we have to postpone seeing Zion play at the start of the Regular Season week because he reportedly suffered a knee injury suffered during the preseason and is expected not playing for several weeks.

This is actually one weakness that I've thought about this kid. His knees won't be able to hold up with that body weight and those high jumps. He should be fine for a couple of years of highly competitive games but his career will probably last less than 10 years if he is not going to change his playing style as he grows older.

I disagree with you, the problem he has is his weight. he doesn't need to change the way he plays or his playing style. Well, one solution for Zion in order to have a long career is to lose weight so as not to hurt his legs again. Weighing now at 285 pounds, one of the toughest players in the NBA.

He will have to change his playing style once he loses his explosiveness or quickness to still become an effective player. Or do you still expect him to rely heavily on those aspects of his game after five years?
