That's after two years. The last time I saw him was the year 2019 and no one took him in. So this is their solution for the increase of health and protocol admitted players. 10-day contracts for players in the G-league just so the games won't be postponed and they can still manage to end the season in time.
It looks like we are going to see different names in different teams. LA Lakers also have 4 players who entered the protocol, 7 for Cleveland Cavaliers, and more. This is not looking good for the league.

Actually what is happening right now in the NBA with the current health protocol gives the other free agents some opportunity to showcase their skills back in the NBA court which is actually good for them because not only their back with a little time in their contract but the scouts are also looking forward to inserting them in their teams where they lacked role players like them. As you can see, the Bulls have also signed Ersan İlyasova to strengthen their reboundings.
And it also makes us wonder what happened to them. I kind of make a lot of research every time I hear someone was signed for a 10-day contract.
I last saw this brother playing with the Bucks and I didn't know what happens next. But I think I saw him wearing a Jazz uniform.
Quote
Ersan Ilyasova: Expected to sign with Utah
Rotowire  MAR 9, 2021
Ilyasova is expected to sign with the Jazz on Wednesday, pending final bloodwork, Jordan Schultz of ESPN reports.

Ilyasova was waived by Milwaukee in November after a trade between the Bucks and Kings involving Bogdan Bogdanovic fell through. He's yet to appear in the NBA this season, but he appears to be headed to the current top team in the Western Conference on a veteran minimum deal. The 33-year-old appeared in 63 games for Milwaukee last season, averaging 6.6 point and 4.8 rebounds per game. He likely won't be in line for many minutes, but he'll at least be able to provide a low-level offensive presence off the bench if coach Quin Snyder calls upon him.
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/555957/ersan-ilyasova/
Thanks to CBS for an updated status of him in 2021 including illness and injuries. I might just check every detail on this website whenever a new face arrives or an old one that had been gone for a long time. Ilyasova could be a good add-on for the Bulls' lack of an inside man. And this is a guy who can also shoot.

Thanks to their great performance in the last two quarters, Phoenix Suns got a very important win against LA Lakers last night by 108-90. It is a really huge victory when we consider that Lebron James and Westbrook were in this game also. Davis couldn't play at Lakers due to knee injury. I think that Lebron and Westbrook still played really great. Lebron got 34 points and 7 rebounds. And Westbrook made a double-double by 22 points and 12 rebounds. Even if Westbrook scored a near amount to Lebron's, Suns would have still won this. They felt the absence of Davis.

Lebron though seems to suffered a injury, Westbrook? he committed a lot of turnovers, Anthony gets ejected, THT like 1/10, so it was really a bad night for the Lakers and I doubt that they can overcome the Suns even before the game.

Phoenix playing good defense too and again Chris Paul showing his experience and veterans move to illicit a foul. Even if Davis is present though, I think the Suns are going to way in my book.

They are going to win it undoubtedly. There are no shooters for the Lakers except for Carmelo Anthony and he was ejected. IT has a rough night too with a bad shooting, every throw just doesn't want to sink in.
Then, Lebron James stepped on the foot of Jae Crowder while landing and it was the dagger that ended the competition. It's just Lebron who was making all the good plays while the others are just following him and with his ankle bothering him there is no way they could win it. Finally, no one can stop Ayton so it had always been an easy deuce for him. 9/11 in the paint.

Things didn't go the way the Lakers wanted too. They have a bad night today because of the defense of the Suns which is by far one of the top defensive teams in the league.
THT and Isaiah Thomas combined for 2/24 FG made which is unacceptable knowing that they are scoring double digits in some of their games.

Davis' absence is felt I agree but I think that before the start, many are thinking the the Suns will win this. Well, I just hope that LeBron will be ok after what happened to him because if he will get injured again then things will not be good with them. Davis is injured and LeBron will be injured as well so how will be the Lakers without Lebron. If he will get injured (hope not) then the chances of them going to the playoffs will drop significantly.

Lakers were so hype within the 1st quarter with James and Westbrooke starts to show off in the first few minutes of the quarter and later on they have been having a hard time catching the Suns. Indeed, they really felt the absence of Davis's asissts and rebounds to catch up the lead. Also, Rondo didn't made a score in his 23 minutes in the court.
The Phoenix Suns was impressive today, especially Booker and Ayton as the lead on tonights game. All thanks to Chris Paul's powerful assists.

Joe Johnson coming out of retirement to sign a 10-day contract with the Celtics at 40 years old is something else.  I wonder if he's going to be able to make an impact and if this is a real signing to improve the team or a precaution because of all the players sitting out constantly with covid related issues.  One thing is for sure, Iso Joe being back in the league is a welcome sight for players and he has been a staple in the league for some time.  I personally will never forgive him for leaving the Suns, but I'm glad he's back.

Wow, this is certainly a name I did not expect to ever hear that is coming back to the NBA. I don't know why exactly but for some reason I was always a pretty big fan of Joe's.  Something about his game always appealed to me. I would imagine covid likely has something to do with it.  Covid is really starting to effect the sports world.  I'm sure you've seen that a couple games for today have been cancelled (including my Bulls).

Nothing but good plays for the Suns, the ball is rotating well and by looking at players' contributions

It can tell how great the coach they've got. It's the player though who competes inside, but the direction or the system is from the
coaching staff, they've done the great job and Kudos to all the men behind.

Lakers on the other hand, there's nothing except for LeBron, who tried everything, but that ankle really bothered him.

Yes, I'm also a big fan of Joe Johnson back in the days, good shooter.

I guess it's because of the health and safety protocols and then players getting injured. And I think it's good though that these players are giving a second chance specially those who have retired already.

And then players having their NBA debut, coming from other leagues to fill the slots as well.

Phoenix Suns are the most stable team in NBA now for two seasons. In the last season, they had a great time and reached even the final series. But they couldn't reach the championship and lost to Milwaukee Bucks by 4-2. But they are still playing very focusedly and we see them as the leader of the Western Conference currently. If they manage to make it to the final series again, I'll be wondering if they will be able to reach the championship this time.

I really wonder what Lakers need to do in order to get better. They have a great roster already, sure they are missing AD right now but not like they were knocking down opponents when AD was there neither. Suns is a good team I am not arguing that they should have beaten Suns, and for some reason since Chris Paul came in, he literally turned that franchise around 180 degrees and I know he is a good player but I do not think that his contribution could be the only reason.

No matter how good Suns are, Lakers were expected to be at the top, or at least around the top, like even 20 wins right now with 12 losses would be fine for them, that is something I could see happening, but back on .500 again? I mean they seriously need to find whatever that "reason" is, and fix that issue. They are a bit old I get that, but they are very talented as well, they should be doing a lot better.

I doubt it.

CP3 is aging like fine wine but aging nonetheless.

I simply don't think that they have the firepower to win it all. They depend a lot on their role players and do not have enough star power outside of an aging point guard and an at times inconsistent SG.

Their roster is great in name only but the reality is it's mostly a group of aging superstars. Their game play is slow which is fitting for veterans but they should bring back young guys into the mix so they can have more options.

I bet this team will have a hard time beating the current Spurs in a seven game series.

As we can see on the points production per game average, it's very low, that means they are slowing the game but without Davis, they might struggle even if Lebron and Westbrook will stay consistent. The struggle continues for the Lakers and we have no idea when it will stop, judging by the way they are playing, their playoffs is not going to be good.

I bet this team will have a hard time beating the current Spurs in a seven game series.
A young Spurs vs an experienced LA Lakers, I'd go with the Lakers.

This 10-day contracts is becoming a thing now which is good for former stars especially after/during a time when their hustles (after NBA) were affected.

I'm just thinking if the Heat will get one, they should probably contact D. Wade Grin I'm pretty sure he'll laugh at the idea but it's his home and it could be fun for him. I remember an article that his agent is telling him to stay in shape even after retiring because he can get calls anytime. This could be the perfect scenario for that.

I guess injuries and bad team chemistry are the main reasons why the Lakers have such unconvincing performance throughout this season. Besides, I don't exclude that coach Vogel might be the problem because sometimes he makes controversial decisions. Anyway, the Lakers still have more than half of the season to fix this situation.

~
They are just good when they are at their prime but right now with their ages, they aren't as dominating as they are years ago or maybe lets exclude LeBron since he is still dominating the league in his own ways.
Howard, Anthony, Jordan. These are just three of the Laker players right now that are dominating the league at their prime but now they can't because they are aging already. Include the fact that they also have injury prone players like Davis and even Lebron. If you will ask me if they have a great roster, I would say yes just by name but in terms of performance I would say average team at least for me.

This is what I'm talking about and in fact, they are the slowest team right now and its because of their ages. Maybe LeBron and Westbrook can still run fast but most of their players? They can't.

For sure, they have found the reasons already, but so far they haven't fix or can't fix the issues.

So it's really hard for them to really maintain that .500 in my opinion. Lebron James is pushing his body to the limits again and it seems he got injured on that losing game against the Suns.

I guess we can't expect the Lakers to win a championship for this year and maybe next year we will see another roster overhaul and this is failed experiment, getting veterans and experience players.

I personally will never forgive him for leaving the Suns, but I'm glad he's back.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/nba-world-reacts-to-the-joe-johnson-news/ar-AAS3YId?ocid=msedgntp
I am a fan back when he was in the Phoenix Suns with Steve, Amare, Quentin, and Hill but I believe it will not be the same as those times. This may be just for that little money but I am sure there will always be fans like me who want to see how he plays even at his age. Will the touch still be there or will he just be an addition to complete the 8 players for the Celtics?
2 minutes, 2 points. I will just enjoy watching him the next game if ever they will give them more minutes.

No impact. He's done for. No offense to his fans but it's just the same as other common players who are drafted by any teams with a short-term contract. He's already 40 years of age so what can we expect. Even the most potential and still young Tacko Fall just become a bench player. Brad Stevens is so strict to his lineup.

A great chance for him however as even for a 10-day contract, there's a designated salary for it.
