In the Miami-Washington game, Miami almost broke Denver's record for most points scored in a single game.
Adebayo scored 83 points, breaking Kobe's record.
36 out of 43 free throws.
It seems ridiculous to me. When Kobe scored 81 points, his team came back from a 20-point deficit to win the game. In this game, Adebayo scored 83 points, but Miami was already overwhelmingly superior to Washington. That many free throws seemed pointless to me. I don't understand if they were trying to break the record.
Adebayo is a good player, but is he good enough to score that many points in one game and break the record? Are there no other players on this team?

It was already an expected fact that Kobe's modern-era scoring record would be broken eventually.

However, the controversial part was that it was Adebayo who did it. nobody was expecting it from him Smiley
I watched the game specifically to see if he actually deserved to break the record. The short answer yes, he deserved it. There was absolutely no situation where they were intentionally fouling just so he could break the record.

I would have expected this record from Jokic or Doncic, but I didn't expect it from Adebayo. That's what surprised me.
He made some great three-pointers in this game, but his 46 free throws were also very interesting. Washington is a bad team, but don't these players practice defense at all?

I've witnessed some very interesting scores and results in the NBA this year. This statistic surprised me. I'm not hiding that.

While watching the Celtics game, we were also following Adebayo's points at the same time. When he scored 31 points in the first quarter, everyone's attention naturally shifted there. First he scored 62nd point and broke the Heat's franchise record. Then he passed 81 and moved into second place. At that point even the broadcaster stopped the Celtics game and showed Adebayo's last points.

I don't care what anyone says. So what if it happened against the Wizards? Aren't they an NBA team too? So what if he stayed in the game in the final stretch to break the record? Others have done that too. No matter what, this is an incredible achievement. Anyone trying to downplay it doesn't understand basketball at all. Who would've thought Adebayo would break this record? But he did it. Congrats Bam!

Of course, he's not as perfect a player as Kobe or Wilt Chamberlain, he's not a superstar who could single-handedly lead a team to a championship. But we can't ignore his achievement. Scoring 83 points is truly a great record. I remember the day Kobe scored 81 points, everyone on TV was talking about it. Bam's record is just as valuable, he achieved a statistic that will be very difficult to break. After all, players like Curry, Kat, and Durant couldn't even come close to this record. We have to respect him Smiley

Ultimately I blame Erik Spoelstra for the Bam disaster.  There was no reason that he should have still been in the game with that large of a lead.  Let alone allowing his team to foul to get extra possessions in a blowout.  I'm surprised the Wizards weren't throwing hands.  It was like they wanted to see Bam do it too.  The unwritten rules of basketball may be gone.  Kobe's legacy taking a shot with this one.

Historic night for Bam Adebayo, as he posted 83 big points, winning 150-129.

I thought no one can touch Kobe's 81 points before, but tonight there is something special,

Quote
Bam Adebayo scored the most points since Wilt Chamberlain's iconic 100-point game in 1962 as the Miami Heat star went for 83 points in a 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

Adebayo went 20 of 43 from the field, 7 of 22 from 3-point range and 36 of 43 from the free throw line. He added nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in just under 42 minutes.

His free throw makes and attempts both set NBA records for a game. The record for attempts was 39 by Dwight Howard -- who got to the line that many times on two occasions. The record for free throws made in a game was 28, set by Wilt Chamberlain and Adrian Dantley.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48168997/bam-adebayo-scores-83-second-most-points-nba-history

I can’t believe it. Sort of messed up that they put him back in the game after they already secured the win to let him get 83 and pass Kobe. I don’t think Bam deserves that record but they got the win and he scored the points… Many at the free throw line. His % was respectable though. Just a shame to see Kobe’s record taken.
Yes, they've already secured their win here, but somewhat Erik wanted to push Bam and to play in the 4th, so I do agree that somewhat Erik to blame here. Not against him, but we all know that in the spirit of sportsmanship, when they have a good lead already, they've rest their starters and bring in the second unit so that they can play as well. But Erik did the opposite here and wanting Bam to break the record of Kobe for sure. It's just a record sure? But how he accomplished it might be the question and it's going to be a long argument about it.

Jesus, H. Christ... 83 points!! I am not going to lie, I did not expected to wake up this morning to something like this at all, it is a wonderful day to be an NBA fan for sure.

And if you told me that someone would break Kobe's record, I would say Steph probably did it, and if you gave me 20 tries to guess and find who did it, I would not have come up with Bam Adebayo no matter how much I tried.

Let me put it this way when I saw his name here, and that statline, I kept looking which one was the points, because my brain rejected the idea that a Centre in todays game managed to score 83 points.

NBA fans are divided though, some are saying that the Heat shouldn't have put Bam to break the record, as they are very comfortable in the lead going into the 4th quarter. And as fans, we don't have to see Kobe's record being broken.

And if you told me that someone would break Kobe's record, I would say Steph probably did it, and if you gave me 20 tries to guess and find who did it, I would not have come up with Bam Adebayo no matter how much I tried.

See, even you can't believed that it will be broken by Bam, no offense to him, we all didn't expect and I agree that there could be better players like Kobe or even Giannis or SGA or Jokic as this guys are known to be a better scorer than Adebayo.

I was shocked and surprised as you are, it was absolutely unbelievable, 83 points is a huge accomplishment for someone to make such record in the NBA, when I saw it I was like who delivered this unbelievable performance.

Even Kobe wouldn’t believe that someone like Adebayo was the one that broke his record, I would obviously think that players like Giannis, Steph Curry, would be the once who will achieve this a milestone.

Congratulations to Bam Adebayo for keeping such a wonderful performance and record, it’s was totally unbelievable.

DANG! you hit it, Even I will never imagine things like this I will go pick Tyler to get that 81 points in a game than Ade,
He might get 30 rebounds in a game but 83 points? wew! thats huge! I hope the league will not issue a drug testing for him after that big night!

Yeah that is an incredible achievement. I mean he was close to breaking it, and his teammates and coaching staff supported it that's why he stayed until the 83rd pts even if it's a blow out game.
I can even remember when Luka had 49 pts, JJ asked him if he wants to stay a little longer to get the 50, but wasn't able to sink that final free throw to make it to 50, lol.I guess it's safe to say everyone wants to have an NBA record, so yeah, others have done what Bam did too.

However, I have a couple of guy I can think that didn't do it when they had the chance to.
The first one was Melo who scored 62 pts and was pulled out early in the 4th (under 8 mins left). He was shooting over 60%, so he could've come closer to 80 if wanted to try it.
The 2nd one was Klay Thompson's 60 pts game, who was strongly considered to have break Kobe's record if he played in the 4th. He didn't played in the final quarter at all, and he's on fire in the 3rd with 40pts in that quarter alone.

Defending Kawhi Leonard has been incredibly difficult in recent games.

Kawhi's 45 points on 75% field goal percentage led the Los Angeles Clippers to their sixth win in their last seven games.
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated Minnesota 152-128.

I wonder how long Kawhi can maintain this level of performance.

I've witnessed some very interesting scores and results in the NBA this year. This statistic surprised me. I'm not hiding that.

Adebayo’s performance is huge regardless. And he deserved it. if you look at the Heat’s injury list, it’s obvious why they’re feeding him every possession. With Herro, Powell, Jovic and Wiggins out, Bam is literally carrying the squad.
But ofc i also would expect this kind of stat line from Jokic. considering Adebayo's previous career high was 41 and he just doubled it.

Momentum Kawhi is a beast. It’s hard to defend him since he is fast and can create space on his own due to his athleticism. He just not consistently playing like this due to his injuries and probably he doesn’t feel to perform an extra effort.

Expect him to be consistent during playoffs run since he is always carrying the team when he needed the most.

He is good both defense and offense.

As long as he won't get injured, I think we will see like a prime Kawhi in this season for the Clippers. And when Harden left or traded, he really took everything in his shoulder and carry the Clippers and this could be the first time that they might make it to the playoffs only the West is really tight as we enter the last stretch of the regular season.

Just to bad for Minnesota to lose this much against the Clippers, I thought at least it could be close but they have a bad shooting night and it's obvious that they are off tonight against Kawhi.

The dude is one of the best players in the league as long as he’s not injured. It’s rare for superstars nowadays to be good at both offense and defense. I still remember their playoff run last year. Although they didn’t win or make it to the conference finals, it proved they are a threat. I don’t know why he’s still getting booed in the Spurs’ home arena years after he left the team. The dude is a likable player, he doesn’t do unnecessary theatrics, doesn’t act or beg for calls, he just plays and does his best. That makes him different from other star players.

There are people hate about what happen because they just can't accept that Adebayo broke the record of Kobe Bryant. Many says Kobe is more better but people should accept it since its clear that everything happen due to effort made by Adebayo.

Regardless which team he did it and how controversial his performance still people should give huge credit to that amazing performance he made for that day. Well Jokic maybe can do that and its time for those stars to perform well and try to broke those record gotten by those players on the list.

Mathurin and Garland are really good trades for Clippers man... We saw it once again last night. They can both still called young as well. Especially Garland impressed me more with 5 3-PT made.
Mathurin has been playing very well with the Clippers ever since he joined the team, and you can really see the team getting stronger because of that.
Also it looks like Garland is back to his old form. He was traded before after losing consistency when he got injured, but now it seems he’s playing much better again.
Beating the Wolves in a blowout like that is huge in my opinion.

Kawhi is already a legend in my heart... If he didn't deal with serious injuries I believe he would absolutely be one of MVP candidates for regular season this year. 45 PTS, 6 3-PT and 75% FG!

This is not surprising IMO, let’s just hope he stays healthy especially when the playoffs come.
Slowly we didn’t even notice it but the Clippers have already moved up to rank 6 now.

Jesus, H. Christ...

DANG! you hit it, Even I will never imagine things like this I will go pick Tyler to get that 81 points in a game than Ade,
He might get 30 rebounds in a game but 83 points? wew! thats huge! I hope the league will not issue a drug testing for him after that big night!

They jus brought attention to Miami and look everyone buys the news and for sure they've succeed if that's part of their plans, hahaha but kidding aside I also agree to what you have said, having 30+ rebounds will not surprise fans knowing how powerful Bam inside but throwing and making that 83 points breaking Kobe's record that really something and surely it take time for fans and social media to cater this news and keep spreading what he added to his career's achievements.

DANG! you hit it, Even I will never imagine things like this I will go pick Tyler to get that 81 points in a game than Ade,
He might get 30 rebounds in a game but 83 points? wew!

Watching the game is so tiring for Adebayo. He just keeps jumping for the rebound and shoot a lot as in a lot since he missed a lot of shots too just to come up with that high scoring night.

People comparing this game with Kobe high scoring but most of Bam score is from free throws snd his team is already not playing to score rather leave the scoring to Adebayo just for breaking the record.

I doubt Tyler can do that kind of game.

In NBA drama news. Luka Doncic apparently has been putting all of his assets in his Mother’s name so when his wife filed for divorce she was shocked to learn what she would be getting or the lack thereof. She’s now trying to get full custody of the kids so she has an income, which is why Luka is upset. Crazy that these athletes have to do stuff like this to beat gold diggers at their own game.
