Although, I live in a major city in Europe, my friends and my colleagues are not familiar with the idea of bitcoins. This was also the case with my family that see my involvement as a hobby and nothing more. When i tried to discuss about it in recent past, with my friends and co-workers some of them began to laugh and others were completely negative. To a large extent this happens because there is no good information. But what will the media? or the state?

Yes, I agree with this one, that even experienced and educated persons do not know what is bitcoin.
So in my case what do people around me thinking about bitcoin? They know a little of it, because they heard it from that I am earning
using this currency

After reading some comments I realize that my story is not that much different, most people think of bitcoin as the currency of criminals or think is to complicated to use, but it is their loss since they are not going to be there when the price rises.
Well we needed to provide them right knowledge about bitcoin i guess giving them right and positive information about this will change their minds and start to research about this currency and for sure they will begin investing as well.
That is not easy, a lot of people are sheep, the believe whatever they are told, and they don't take the time to research for themselves if what they are hearing and seeing is true or not.

the media are the most important way to mintage public opinion
so if you have acquaintance or connection in your local media
just try ask them to discuss or just mention about bitcoin
i have tried too here in my local place , i start from the online radio inform everyone about bitcoin.

I dont really know what they think about bitcoin, but as far as i know only few of the people knows the use of bitcoin, what bitcoin is all about and the benefits that can we get through it. Even the users of bitcoin, they don't know they "all abouts" of bitcoin, even myself, there are something that i don't know about it. But if people do some research and if they are interested about it, then no doubt all people in the country or people around me knows the what are the advantage and disadvantages of bitcoin.

People around me specially my friends thinks that bitcoin is just a points earned from online games they don't have full knowledge that you can use it as your source of financial needs. Some neighbors of mine said that it may lead them to scammers, and then said to them that they are wrong and i advice and discuss with them the importance of bitcoin so that they may understand what btc is. Hopefully bicoin in our country will do have transaction booth in the public so that people will be eager to earn and use bitcoin if they learned soon.

Great question!
My family really don't have a clue about bitcoin, won't listen to me about it and i think they are sick of hearing me talk about it but i won't stop.
Some friends are interested but most don't trust it because they don't understand bitcoin or take the time to look into it a little more for themselves.

If more people knew how the fed prints money at will and about the way the whole fiat system really works then i am sure they would all be looking for an alternative like bitcoin.

for sure mate if they can understand how powerful bitcoin can be with the full function and with the easy way how to deal with it, just a simple knowledge and for sure they can understand it the way we did, bitcoin is not just an investment but also a easiest way to transfer money with just small fees.

So, what do people around you (relatives, co-workers, co-ed, friends...) think about Bitcoin ? Please, indicate your country, so this way I'll be able to make a synthesis about what people think about Bitcoin.

For me : I come from France. My relatives think that it's criminals' tool and that since they can't touch money they don't trust it (note that those same persons are pro-banks, where you can't touch money). My friends think that it is useless and that it has no future. Both of them agree that scare them the most is the Bictoin's price volatibility.

So not so positive Undecided. I hope that you aren't in the same situation.
ya nearly same of you . i am from indonesian bitcoin is looking a gambling . in my country say about bitcoin is weird .

Most of the people around me are not yet aware of bitcoin because all they know is social media like facebook, posting, sharing, liking all day. I told them to just explore because we can really make money online but still they don't care maybe I don't have the power of encouragement. By the way, I'm from Philippines.

I am also from the same country as you, I noticed too that people are busy with social media and sharing hoax news. What I notice is that some of us love those "too good to be true", and MLM's and things like that, but if you told them that they could earn with bitcoin, they are in doubt and if they believe you, it would only take days and leave and back to browsing facebook instead of earning. But anyway, my family already know what is bitcoin since I already told them what it is, they are not asking me anything anymore, so it might mean that they are not interested.

It's because most people want to do little work and earn a lot. Networking AKA MLM is still going on in the Philippines. After being warned so many times, people still believe that they're going to earn from MLM. Well, yes you would earn from that if you're a manipulative person and were able to recruit a lot of people. Otherwise, you just gave them donations.

I have friends that begged their parents for money just to join MLM and earned nothing but never want to take a little amount of money out of their pocket to buy bitcoins even when they see that I'm earning money out of this.

30-40 % people around me know about Bitcoin. Recently, it has also got much publicity in newspapers my country. I live in India. Recently, a great step was taken by our government to ban big notes and replace them with new ones.
In this transition, our Prime Minister has encouraged to get online for transactions

1-2 years back, people around me only knew about how Bitcoins were used by terrorists and in illegal activities.
Now the picture is different. It is being viewed as a replacement for bank transactions.

I must agree that the image in the media about bitcoin has turned, at least a little.
A few years go most news in mainstream meadia about bitcoin was bad.
It was like bitcoin was made responsible for the crimes people committed when bitcoin was involved as the way to move money.
Now I still read mostly about crimes when bitcoins are mentioned, but the focus of the story is back on the crime, not on bitcoin anymore.
I get the feeling that for the media it does not matter anymore if a criminal wants cash or bitcoin.

We looks so same. Most of my friends and family think that bitcoin is illegal because it was once said mode of payment in dark market.

Actually, my perspective in bitcoin is same as my relatives know. But because of my friend that uses bitcoin a year ago, I was encouraged by him.

It is very sad to hear about that. I think they must at least know how bitcoin truly work instead of nothing. It can be considered as a crime if someone claims that bitcoin is useless  Angry have you try to convince them yet ?
Well friend its same around me too, I tried to tell a few friends of mine who gamble all the day among themselves that they can easily bet with bitcoins and take their profits instantly but they made fun of me and said that they do not trust any online currency. Well, I was pretty upset and never discussed with them again.

I am from South Africa and about 60-70% around me know about bitcoin. That being mainly because I am at university so more people would discuss bitcoin (or at least heard about it). However with regards to my family I would say about 20-30% know about bitcoin and feel that bitcoin is a gimmick and not real. They can't seem to grasp the concept of cryptocurrency.

In my environment, there are only a few people that really knows about bitcoin. They learned it from me anyway. I haven't gotten to meet someone that already knows bitcoin. I want to meet interesting people that think of Bitcoin as a chance of profit or investment in a way or just thinks of bitcoin as a way of life, always using it on a day to day basis.

End note: No one around me currently knows Bitcoin up to my knowledge.

Even well experienced and educated teacher also don't know what bitcoin is
and when they hear about it they think that is useless and so they don't care about it.

And also when I gave them the idea what is bitcoin, they were enlightened that this kind of currency is not illegal
like other knows, then now thay want too to make this kind of money in their wallet.
