i think slow(turn intensity) it down or use the updated miner  from oc miner , which suits your rig. myself, 650ti ,lol, im 130mhs . but without longpoll i am still =/- .10%. i do get some unknown work , i think is houd turn it up from  i-4

That error Message comes from an outdated version of cgminer. Just use the last official version, I believe version 0.0.3 and you are fine.

sweet longpol activated . ready for some mining. still pumping along , 130mhs   650ti, just think how it would go if i a had  better vid card or a real rig set up .

if you really mean cpu, then it is possible, but even in the beginning it will be nearly useless.
look at the testnet, yesterday there were 75gh/s, now there are 45gh/s and i guess this is far away from the peek in the beginning.
